Imagination Says, A New Vagabond I Shall Be

Longing for beauty, I walk amidst the flowers
An olden warrior, free from fallen towers
Yet soul in me, glorious peace simply cannot find
For lonesome heart weeps deeply into troubled mind
In a moment, eyes spot a hungry little bee
Gathering its load, mindless of the lonesome me
Lost in a new world, ruled by this unruly heart
I realize this, how that little bee is so smart

With newfound knowledge, being busy is the golden key.
Onward I trek, renewed spirit resting within me.

With heart that has from its unrelenting pains found its relief.
All this beauty surrounding- releases this soul from grief.

For prison chains have been broken, redemption has found me.
Imagination says, a new vagabond I shall be.

    Personal Note:
    Waking from an afternoon dream,
After my reading my newfound book, titled
Plato, Epictetus , Marcus Aurelius from The
Harvard Classics, Deluxe Edition, I had this
moment of clarity, a voice said- now write,
Please do something this not so Sad and Dark.
My muse laughed, and then far away she fled.
Next to my front porch I very hurriedly went
Could this composing truly be its own blessing,
By a stroke of dreaming, precious time well spent?

Excellent! And so relatable my friend. I love the way you put certain things into words to express things from your heart.
“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colin." Need I say more?” - Chris Rock

Well, with 52 years of writing poetry one learns a few things, my friend.
Like how if one writes poetry, the heart's truth must be inked. Or else
what is the use, the purpose of composing poetry if it be to only feed
    a growing ego?
Instead one should be composing to give to others, that they may see
and learn that life is precious and even men(tough men) have heart...-Tyr

As This Heart Wakes To Your Soft Touch

Sounding a change a call to arms
    echoes in heart's beatings
    waging battles against world's harm
    found within dawn's greetings
    battle yields to heroic light
    blessings send, strength to fight

    to find a bountiful treasure
    wake to again truth see
by love, can one truly measure
    life by a sound decree
for 'tis written, heart can renew
    again, true love in you

'pon a night of moon's soft glowing
    from Heavenly skies cast
    spirals of love's sweetest showing
    true love forever lasts
    dear angel, hold this thought
    love's gems we gaily caught

as this heart wakes to your soft touch
    dawn its bright waking sings
our deep love held so very much
    as flowers are to Spring
darling, await I for night dreams
    and your falling moonbeams.

Awakened At Last, Newborn Soul Sails New Seas

Hearing call of Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Angels in tune singing, beauty can you hear it
A melody that soothes heart, body and ones' soul
Relieving us from this wicked world's tragic tolls
With awaking eyes, spirit understands life anew
Penetrating Light shows what to Heaven is due.

A new flame gifted, its radiant treasures brings
From above gems start to flow, given with no strings
Suddenly, world into a new horizon flees
Awakened at last, newborn soul sails new seas
Crystal blue waters and towards paradise shores
Renewed life a different world then explores.

Dawn, hearing again beauty as bright songbirds sing
Morn and life have become such a wonderful thing
Sunset, red-gold rays take on a new flaming shine
As heart, soul and spirit, drink of truth's Holy wine
Night no longer holds those evil, ghastly sent fears
For that golden treasure, rewards ones' coming years!

Hearing call of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Angels in tune singing, beauty can you hear it?

Hold On Tightly, When Life Takes Its Great Leaps And Bounds

Hold on tightly, when life takes its great leaps and bounds
this old blue marble is not all sweet virgin ground
strewn about are horrendously nasty pitfalls
awaiting the fruits of world's constant tempting calls
to dive right on in and never mind the dark sin
after all, are we not modern, enlightened men?

As wise, old philosophers great advice once gave.
" Be wise now, for waits only a dark lonely grave".

Hold on tightly, raging world ever faster spins
as its current master, the dark one sits and grins
but modern man believes not in such fairy tales
or an afterlife, or chasing a Holy Grail
so dive right in, these waters are so very fine
and on your new, bright golden plates you too shall dine!

As wise, old philosophers great advice once gave.
" Be wise now, for waits only a dark lonely grave".

An Early Morn Stroll Into Heavenly Sent Bliss

A New Light, Bright Rays That Are Sent To Heall

New light, brighter rays bequeathed to heal
those deep aching fears, terrors of the night,
those wicked world uses to sweet joy kill
in its evil nature uses to blind.

New sight, a soft-cast wind sent to fill sails
those gifts of hope given and life anew
those sweeter dawns, that dark cannot assail
impregnable, new shield given to you.

New faith, a glory Heaven has thus sent
those pearls of wisdom that defeats dark fears
those words healing what was so torn and rent
wiping away sorrows and falling tears.

New light, new sight, new faith, a true godsend.
To a lost and blinded heart heal and mend.

O' Land How I Long To Tread Those Dear, Waiting Shores

O' earthen sorrows, so unwelcomed are thy pains
Gives as treasures, promised sweetened tomorrows
Not calamity of gold stolen, ill-gotten gains
Nor coming woes of heart-torn and regretful stains.

O' wizen sage, share gems of thy wisdom with me
A poor lad born a life of great hardship and toil
Dare I mourn being sailor roaming darken sea
And not that lad planting crops in soft virgin soil.

O' solitude, song I now cry to proudly sing
Whilst raging black-clad storm angrily dares to cast
Soul into that foaming pit, thus my ending bring
Or laugh crushing me under ship's fast falling mast.

O' land how I long to tread those dear, waiting shores
With its safety, and dullness I once thought so bores.

Dearest Sunlight, I Wait With Bated Breath

Dearest sunlight has thy glow ran away
Into a hideous canyon to hide
Please to dawn's glorious hour this I pray
Return, forgive me my arrogant pride
I watch night sky, its vast, glittering glows
Yet this lonely soul inward deeply cries
Beauty abounds as a heavenly show
Whilst on this sadden earth, love too oft dies.

Dearest sunlight, have mercy, please return
Life without you leaves but a bitter taste
And in these consuming fires heart so burns
While once so happy now all seems a waste.

Dearest sunlight, I wait with bated breath.
Life without you, tis but a fearsome death.

An Early Morn Stroll Into Heavenly Sent Bliss

    Emerald waters, wanted, invitingly cool
Sad, silly, many think love just another tool
An implement to further their dark, selfish aims
As if all life is but a mere win or lose game
A gamble, way to cheat, a way to conquer all
Such evil, immense folly before coming fall.

    Emerald waters, wanted invitingly cool
Love is life, truth, beauty, swim in a happy pool
An early morn stroll into heavenly sent bliss
Midnight scene, complete with eager ravenous kiss
A joining of heart, soul and two desirous minds
Steamy afternoon, when time comes to close the blinds.

An early morn stroll into heavenly sent bliss .
Midnight scene, complete with eager ravenous kiss.

As Her Love Lives Forever In This Heaving Breast

Wisdom, its great truths, that treasure, my newest quest.
As her love lives forever in this heaving breast.

As sun was waiting its glorious rise
I woke again, what a shocking surprise
Room was pitch black and clock stared at me
Blinking rapidly I began to see
A thin sliver of light enter the room
Rapidly it ran away the gloom
Thus without fear I ventured to speak
As into house a happy thought did sneak
Could this new day bring my desired goal
Live again, forgetting life's heavy tolls.

Wisdom, its great truths, that treasure, my newest quest.
As her love lives forever in this heaving breast.

As sun illumination seeds the earth
Dare we mortals rise above lowly birth
Bask in the truth that pure love transcends all
There in the future awaits golden halls.

Wisdom, its great truths, that treasure, my newest quest.
As her love lives forever in this heaving breast.

On Nature's Beauty Soul Has Fed

    Riverbank, watching waters flow
Living with aching pains in tow
    Golden moon above shining down
    Heaven above, its glowing gown
I ask, Lord what is left of me
Am I truly this fallen tree
Then heard is a clear booming shout
Open your eyes, look all about
Again strive to see, light is free
You do have a true friend in me.

    Soothing, sounds of waters racing.
    Shall beauty, I start embracing.

    Riverbank, soothing wind blowing
    Idly sitting, nowhere going
Far away night's glory has fled
On Nature's beauty soul has fed
    Awaiting rays of rising sun
Seeing vast waters as they run
I but now a speck of old dust
Life again, life to again trust
On that river, hope is my raft
    Inking verse, poetry my craft.

    Soothing, sounds of waters racing.
    Shall beauty, I start embracing.

    Riverbank, shall I again fish
Dare enjoy life, make a new wish
That peace and love again I find
Wake to leave this state of deep blind
Walk forth, back into the sunlight
Into life, watching stars at night
Rise to herald birth of new day
Cast off morbid cloak of deep gray
Leave after my prayers are said
Defeat this cloud of dreaded dread.

    Soothing, sounds of waters racing.
    Shall beauty, I start embracing.

Default Somehow reminded me of when I was a young boy.

Loved it Robt. Made me think of my young days playing Tom Sawyer along our river where we built a raft using two halves of telephone poles, and pallets during the Summer. The poem is Amazing.

I may be older than most. I may say things not everybody will like.
But despite all of that. I will never lower myself to the level of Liars, Haters, Cheats, and Hypocrites.

My friend, your comment is truly a fine gift.
As poets we cherish such feedback and it reinforces our desire to continue to write, continue to give of self, in hope that such may in some way benefit others.

Realize We All Have Gifts We May Impart

To take flight with well splashed and flung ink
See and to live with hope, nod and a wink
Follow course through with a passionate heart
Realize we all have gifts we may impart
Unto others and pray that gives some aid
Again have cheer, hear music well played
Give and in doing so yet live life true
By giving, our fallen spirits renew.

Take flight, let our muse set the newfound course
That from world's darkness, we need a divorce
Hear that loud call from our Savior above
Fine the cheering warmth and hope that is love
Present ripen fruits from a healing tree
In so doing, from our chains become free.

Some verse born from a gift that was given
Thus found, hope and truth- new life worth livin'
In this chaotic world oft gone stark mad
Light vanquishing what was so very sad.

    Note: 2
My friend, from your words a seed was planted, a new poem was born....
A godsend, into a world that has now been so ripped and deeply torn...

Come To Me Shadow, Your Breath I No Longer Fear

Come to me shadow, life-dancing has gone awry
Earth's rotation has slowed, pale has grown weeping sky
Even dawn and its glory dares to hesitate
For what more is life, than a heavy anchor of Fate?

So goes the passing of time, mankind's turbulent flow.
Dare we acknowledge death's hand, its heart-wrenching blows?

Come to me shadow, your breath I no longer fear
For your powers fades away with my streaming tears
In deep sadness, you were a foe fearsomely great
Yet in my ravenous thirst, your powers I ate.

So goes the passing of time, mankind's turbulent flow.
Dare we acknowledge death's hand, its heart-wrenching blows?

Come to me shadow, that I may lop off your head
Punishment for agony you have oft me fed
Know this, conquering you was my faithful vow
Thus with newfound light and life, I live again now.

So goes the passing of time, mankind's turbulent flow.
Dare we acknowledge death's hand, its heart-wrenching blows?

Dearest Sunlight, I Wait With Bated Breath

Dearest sunlight has thy glow ran away
Into a hideous canyon to hide
Please to dawn's glorious hour this I pray
Return, forgive me my arrogant pride
I watch night sky, its vast, glittering glows
Yet this lonely soul inward deeply cries
Beauty abounds as a heavenly show
Whilst on this sadden earth, love too oft dies.

Dearest sunlight, have mercy, please return
Life without you leaves but a bitter taste
And in these consuming fires heart so burns
While once so happy now all seems a waste.

Dearest sunlight, I wait with bated breath.
Life without you, tis but a fearsome death.

    Robert J. Lindley, 7-07-2022
    Sonnet

Note : Composed early this morn,
    born from a dream.

As the dawn comes, it heart pleading for peace
flies morning dove, love borne with its release
but mankind blinded by world's scathing lies
walks a doomed path, such truth thus denies.

Neither shall ignorance, such dark defend,
When evil was clasped as busom friend

In The Refreshing Springtime, When The Breeze Was Cool

I used to go by the lake, sit on the old fallen oak
In the refreshing Springtime, when the breeze was cool
Later in the hot summer, there I would take a long soak
As a younger happy lad I was certainly no fool.

Then when ten years flew by, I was smarter and bit older
I met her a sweet, ravishing beauty beyond the scope
I had grown into a man, stronger and much, much bolder
Full of delirious dreams and often that magical hope.

But know this important thing, I aways backed my friends
I was wise enough to never buy a pig in a poke
Alway prudent with my money, always could met the ends
When speaking of bravery, my friends said I was no joke.

I used to go by the lake, sit on the old fallen oak
Later in the hot summer, there I would take a long soak
In the refreshing Springtime, when the breeze was cool
As a younger happy lad I was certainly no fool.

But Truth Is Life And Love Is So Very Much More

But Truth Is Life And Love Is So Very Much More

Yes, these words do fly away from a poet's heart
As I give mind, soul and my all, so let us start
First comes is, world is evil and the earth is round
Lightning strikes well before you hear the blasting sound
Let us carry on with a few poetic words
About life and this wide, wide world's vast teeming herds
And this thing called humanity and its ways
Maybe toss in Shakespeare and his fantastic plays
Or not, since many think that wrong and thus object
Poetry should be more than a fancy subject
So we jump on to truth about Nature et al
The resounding beauty of it in the late Fall
How a walk in the woods can heal a troubled soul
And ponder the why Life oft takes a heavy toll
Or happiness is treasure that we know it be
Our nation is a gem from sea to shining sea
Why we seek a soulmate, we look for a true love
And if we are smart we pray to our God above
If worthy, we may live unto a ripe old age
If greatly blessed, we may become an old sage
That will gift the darken world in wisdom he shares
Maybe write a bestselling book if anybody cares.
A story well told about wild ways of ones' youth
Must be presented with the wildness of its truth
How so much was great fun but also was some bad
Maybe its strange even with its joys and some sad
But all in all, a poet many things may tell
About this space down here between Heaven and Hell
Lest I forget there are some that do not believe
Live life as a gamble, with spaded ace up the sleeve
Thinking it fable, so they can do as they please
Or else play games ready made to deceive
Life and love, a topic most people know about
A great many live it all without a shout
Some might even say, it is a beautiful thing
They write their loving songs and so joyously sing
But truth is life and love is so very much more
A human has a soul so deep, deep in his core
To more words and other written meanderings
Any poet must know first his own beating heart
Sharing the real truth first would always be his start
I lived wild back then and loved with my all
So when poetry summoned I answered its call
Now to bring these meanderings to conclusion
This mirage just shows, we are all an illusion.
