one of the biggest finds. we've all seen the dramatic video of that B-24 Liberator that lost its left wing. it appears now, with the help of islanders its been found. in Palau



and a son is reunited with his long lost dad

Namvet. Great story. And this doesn't even mention the thousands of B-17 crews that were intentionally sent over Germany without fighter protection. Most young Americans today have little, if any idea about the great toll of life WWII took on the U.S.A.

But then. Ask them about SNOOP DOG's last hit, or Miley's excuse for not showing up, and that's HISTORIC for them.

Those pilots back then had STEEL...Not IRON, Not Aluminum, but STEEL running through their bodies. Thanks for the photos.

actually AT, Bush flew the TBM avenger. he was shot down over chichi Jima during the Iwo Jima fight. he claims he rowed for his life because Japanese were after him. the OIC on chichi was later acused of eating the livers of downed pilots. they caught his ass after the war and he swung for it

I always thought that the video of the B-24 getting its wing blown off, happened over the Ploesti oil refinery in Rumania. But now, looking at the background in that video, the "ground" doesn't look very refinery-like to me. Looks more like some heavily treed islands, sorta like Palau.....

Was it definitely in Palau?

Little-Acorn, and Namvet. I have the DVD collection of all 26 weeks of VICTORY AT SEA. And when you look at them. Many photo's, and films from the 2nd W.W. present (in black and white), countless views of such things.
The Music for Victory At Sea has always been number One for me.

funny i thought so to. but you can clearly see the islands below. and it fell to the Palau's. I suspect it was Peleliu island since that's where the main fight was and bombers and fighters provided support.

i have the collection to. the music score was by Richard Rogers and The RCA Victor Orchestra. i think that was released in 51 or 52. as a kid i watched it with my late dad and uncle. they had it on film. remember the ole pull down screens???

but in 73 a more detailed version of it came out called the world at war. I have that to. released by the imperial war mueseum in England. over the years they collected far more info. old photos, video.

of course I don't get the militay channel. wish i did. I went because dad and uncle said so. period. they served in the USN In WW2. so it was that ole family tradition.
