AP Bias, in Black and White

Two breaking stories today, one of a decades-old crime alleged by the KKK, another about a decades-old crime alleged by the Black Panthers.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — They'd long since exchanged the radical idealism of their youth for comparatively quiet lives — a janitor, a job counselor, a youth baseball coach. They'd become husbands, fathers and grandfathers.

But memories of a violent era in American history came rushing back this week when eight men with ties to the Black Panther Party were arrested in the 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer.

As a deacon at Bunkley Baptist Church, Charles Marcus Edwards was responsible for opening up for Sunday school. And so on that sultry Mississippi morning, he and his wife were the first to arrive at the tiny brick chapel.

A minivan pulled into the gravel drive behind them. A black man got out of the van and approached, followed by a younger white man carrying a video camera. Betty Edwards gave them a friendly wave.

''Mr. Edwards,'' the black man said, extending a hand with a sealed manila envelope. ``I have something for you, sir.''

''What is this?'' the 72-year-old deacon asked, bemused.

Inside were pages from an unfinished story.

It's apparent from reading both that the focus is on the blacks. The KKK story is about... the black victims. And the Black Panther story is about... the black perpetrators. Both black victims and perpetrators are portrayed as honest, righteous, etc. Whites don't even figure in either story as actual human beings, good, bad or otherwise.

The Ap has been bias on everything for a very long time. I don't trust anything they have to say about any news. They aren't known as the AwtP for nothing.
