I think the one point I want to emphasise is that, regardless of precisely how it looks, Logroller is posting, to a great extent, according to a pattern I've found familiar over the years ... it's far more 'formulaic' than it looks. Left wingers will use truth and solid substance to their arguments when it suits them, and will recognise it, WHEN IT SUITS THEIR AGENDA. But when it doesn't, they'll use whatever diversionary tactic they can think of to win out, part of the object being to consolidate thoughts, opinions, gut reactions in people, any way they can to force the result they want.

Logroller faced statements of fact he couldn't directly refute. BUT, those statements fell outside of anything his brand of politics could ever take on board. As he couldn't defy his opposition through direct and substantial means, so it was that all which followed was pitched on a more emotive level, instead, in a way meant to condition the reactions he wanted others to identify with.

It's 'good' tactics ... IF you aren't constrained by fairness or decency. And if you're intent on leading others by the nose.

Unfortunately for Logroller, Conservatives are better than that .... WAY better. So he's been called out on it.

Case in point , the attack upon myself(by logroller) using insults about my family! Neither my mother nor my wife are to be subjects insultingly used in heated debates as they are not here to defend themselves nor should they have to be. A major board Rule was broken and that by a former Mod!
Yet I have never insulted any member's family here at this site or anywhere else. For Jim's "family is off limit rule" has been my rule my entire life.

It's a rare Left Winger, in my experience, who GENUINELY has decency as his or her guide. Many try to copy it, for effect, and some have the gall to claim it for themselves. But to peddle what they do, and to have no conscience about it, tells its own story. Socialism doesn't respect the individual, so, why would any loyal follower of it ?

Logroller is simply an example of that. He was unconstrained by a basic standard of decency which should've told him that attacks against a person's family wasn't remotely acceptable.

If you look at the very bottom of every page in every thread, it shows who has read the thread thus far. Invisible rules apply, so you won't see those who are invisible. Staff members obviously can see all visitors. Anyway, Log doesn't have his account set to invisible anyway. The point I'm making - he hasn't even read this thread. It's possible he has read it as a guest, but logged in he has not entered this thread. A lot of people follow the board by the recent posts at the top of the board, or from the new posts option, and sometimes from the activity stream option - but the cage won't show up in any of them. The only way to see now posts in here is to manually check.

First let me say one thing. If Logroller went out of his way to make a direct statement towards Tyr's mother, there is no way to defend that. The reason that this didn't reach the level of a banning? I honestly don't know the intent, and he has no history of anything even remotely close to that. I was hoping he would follow up after I made my post in that thread. It could have been a lame joke, but even lame jokes about family are lame and unacceptable. A lot of people use 'old lady' to refer to another persons wife. If that were the case, still unacceptable whether joking or not, but just to a different person. Was it said in a 'jest' manner, with no direction, just a "get your slippers from your momma" with no thought of the person used within the joke, but directed at the member here? Possible of course. But like I said earlier, we have to be careful when joking, as sometimes we may mean something one way, and it comes off another. When 2 people don't like one another, obviously some 'jokes' come off differently and take a more serious meaning. I can't find any ways to defend his joke. It was wrong, no matter the seriousness level. I was hoping he would explain and give an apology on the momma part. No matter how it was meant, it hurt the person receiving it, and that alone makes the apology a "right thing to do" moment. I personally like Logroller a lot, always have, and I think he's much smarter than he leads on here at times. This is NOT about his stances. I disagree with him vehemently on things like Islam, fucking with the police solely to record, war on terrorism issues...

You can be a friend with someone and still despise some of their stances.

I just hate to see someone I was friends with for so long feel he has to leave the board. There are always ways to fix issues without having to leave. Address the issue with Tyr, then one can use the ignore feature. I know a handful of you will disagree with me on this issue, but that's cool with me, I fully understand. I have friends "in the real world" where other friends don't get it. But their issues are between them, and mine are mine.

I disagree with Log and what transpired in that thread. I disagree with him on quite a few stances that many others amongst us agree on. I acknowledge that there are mutual beefs with him and other members here. I'm just saying that "I" like Logroller and will miss him if he doesn't return. He was a friend. I don't like losing friends. I would say the same about his enemies in a heartbeat! This isn't taking sides.

Jim , I have no problem with your post or how you handle
this case. It is your board and you know I did not pm
you making either a banning demand or a banning request.
Your house, you make and enforce the rules. I do agree
that an apology is owed to myself/my family but make no
demand the he do so or that he leave.
