I have seen this numerous times, what is worse is the truck pulling away from the Dock as the lift is coming on or off, they go straight to the pavement, many have gotten hurt and even killed that way. Most places now a days have a lock that locks your trailer to the dock, but some of the older places still go with hand signals, even with the locks some forklift drivers would hit the button and unlock ya and give ya the green light and then run back on for one thing or another, myself I always walked back and made sure the door to the warehouse was closed but even doing that I had close calls ( that one last piece they try to rush on before the truck moves ) and yes you can feel the lift going on and off but it feels a lot like pulling the trailer off the lock and if you are loaded heavy than it is hard to feel at all.
