I think that you are NOT many, and for the USA you are a lucky exception rather than the common rule.Then I would like to remind you about one serious obstacle - the language barrier. Americans do not khow foreign languages and the attempts to understad anything without this knowledge can give you only a surrogate which may be very far from reality. And NO interpreter will be able to manage this problem. Besides not everyone would like to speak with you via interpreter. More over, if to believe Margaret Spellings' (US Secretary of Education 2005-2009) interview, 20% grown up Americans are simply illiterate, i.e. they CAN NOT read and wright.
