My personal opinion is that it's abnormal. It's a perversion. That definition won't be changing. But I admit it is entirely possible that the masses become more accepting to allowing folks to be abnormal if that's what they want. Sad, but whatever.

And them same folks talk about transgenders being abnormal. And now we're being told it's wrong if we don't want a fat hair man in the ladies room, just because he claims to be transgender.

Yes, a few decades ago folks didn't even know what the word "scat" meant. But today, look at Japan for example, far too many over there find this to be "normal" in their worlds. Who knows, maybe 50 years down the road from now it will be a "normal" act to some.

Anyway, views and support for queer marriage doesn't make it any less abnormal, IMO.

Why are you fixated on sexual abnormalities? We all do abnormal things. It's what makes life interesting and people different. Everything you do is normal? To every culture? Sometimes I put ketchup in my oatmeal. Is that normal? Where are the pitchforks and torches for that?

Actually it does in the broad scheme of things which of course is the point of the data from Pew. The younger people have less of a problem than the older folks and even the older folks views are changing.

Pete, look at the thread you are in, it's about gays. And it was you who used the word perversion, to which I simply responded to. So no fixation here, sorry!

And nope, not everything I do is normal. And of those things, I have no issue in admitting what is and what is not abnormal. But there's a big difference between being abnormal, for having tattoos for example, and being abnormal because one likes a sausage up their butt!

What you posted is about gay marriage. One can very easily be on that side, saying that they deserve to get married as well - and still say that their perversions involving sex are abnormal.

I still think a bit of tolerance is a good thing, I'd love my kid even if they told me they were gay. OTOH, I don't think there's a need to announce one's preferences all over the land. It's me. I find folks that talk about sexual activities with their significant others, pretty weird and not much good at boundaries. PDA from those out of HS are pretty goofy too-not speaking of holding hands or quick smooches, but well you get it.

Never saw a reason for the whole gay marriage thing, but here we are. Doesn't effect me, so I'm not going crazy over it. I guess if I got an invite from a close friend/relative I'd go, but still think it weird.

And you think there would be a substantive difference in trends? How much data that says similar do you need?

I think folks can be a little more tolerant, so long as "I don't have to see or know about it" type of attitude. "Let them marry if that's what they really want". So yes, I can see folks being a little more accepting. But that hardly means they sit back and say "Oh, well then in that case, it's completely normal for a hot dog to end up in my butt".

And I can even add from my own view. I can deal with gay marriage or civil unions. I disagree, but whatever, the law is the law. But no matter how much they push, I will never see the gay perversions as "normal".

I agree. With that said, if everyone would stop demanding crud and just go about living, I'd never give their sex lives a thought. Really.
