Default Do people pick up on deliberate errors as a put-down?

If for example you refer to lesbians as Lebanese, call someone named Jim "Jeremy", or refer to someone from Scientology as a "neurologist", does it successfully communicate that you think the person isn't worth learning to identify correctly? Just wondering.

    I'm thinking they're not guessing.

I don't know, tailbeans, what do you think?
