If I post a short story of a portion of one, what happens if somebody takes my idea/story and uses it? Anyone worried about that?

“… the greatest detractor from high performance is fear: fear that you are not prepared, fear that you are in over your head, fear that you are not worthy, and ultimately, fear of failure. If you can eliminate that fear—not through arrogance or just wishing difficulties away, but through hard work and preparation—you will put yourself in an incredibly powerful position to take on the challenges you face" - Pete Carroll.
The poetry site I am a paid member of copyrights every poem I post there. Its in the membership fee contractually. I do however often post poems here first but then shortly afterward post at that site getting the copyright in effect.
However , if concerned a member can always edit to time stamp the post as added insurance. Or apply for copyright..
My friend that just authored a new book has agreed to allow his Rosalia series to be presented in the Creative Writing form.
We are now discussing how it may be presented and when he can get time to do so after he joins this forum!
Many of my poems are even from long ago and time stamped at that old forum.
Good thinking , as one never knows and someday such could have far greater value than we place on it ourselves in the here and now.. -Tyr

Copyrights wont stop anything that isnt caught.

Copyscape is great for checking to see if someone robbed you. Their premium software you setup on your site I believe and it monitors live time. At least a head start into who is stealing your content.

“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colin." Need I say more?” - Chris Rock
I don't think the act of copyrighting adds much to your protection.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyrig...cing_copyrightIn all countries where the Berne Convention standards apply, copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office. Once an idea has been reduced to tangible form, for example by securing it in a fixed medium (such as a drawing, sheet music, photograph, a videotape, or a computer file), the copyright holder is entitled to enforce his or her exclusive rights.[12]However, while registration isn't needed to exercise copyright, in jurisdictions where the laws provide for registration, it serves as prima facie evidence of a valid copyright and enables the copyright holder to seek statutory damages and attorney's fees. (In the USA, registering after an infringement only enables one to receive actual damages and lost profits.)
I believe that's true for any intellectual property. Courts will enforce the IP but nobody is protecting you.

Yup, and I think proving that is pretty tough based on my imperfect recollected hearsay of such suits.Copyright law recognizes the right of an author based on whether the work actually is an original creation, rather than based on whether it is unique; two authors may own copyright on two substantially identical works, if it is determined that the duplication was coincidental, and neither was copied from the other.

THERE IS NO PRIVACY on the Internet. Everyone should know by now. Whatever you say, photo's, documents, opinions, statements, poems, idea's, and any form of personal information that is placed on the Internet.
NEVER EVER GOES AWAY. NEVER!
You may believe you are secure in all that you do here. That's what the experts want you to believe.
But...IT JUST AIN'T SO.
If it was typed onto a screen from a keyboard, downloaded, uploaded, or saved anywhere on a PC or APPLE.
IT IS THERE FOREVER! Period.
BY THE WAY. China has been stealing U.S. Govt. information for years.
Does anyone really think they can't steal from common American citizens like us?

^^^^ *The thief lies ..-TyrThe poem is about two people that don't get to meet because they are self-conscious.
Lies and Sad Eyes
Your huge eyes appear bright, blue and so sad
why after all the those rich men you have had
There was that guy that owned a jewelry store
he gave you so much yet you stole so much more
There was the dude that owned nine car lots
he figured you out after I showed your spots
Other cat's parents left him massive wealth
you took all he had and ruined his health
Your big eyes now appear swollen and so very red
Told you I'd endure and torment your silly head
Now you cry and moan for riches you think your due
Life is about family and love yet you haven't a clue
I gave my all and everything hence you never learned to love
Karma bites you while rewarding blessings for me ever since from above

I thought the slam poem was really funny and good.
Performance
I think that I could have made the presentation more colorful but I think I did good. Its important to do tasks in drama because that is what drama is.

#5. Shining Fruits From A Solid Tree (by Robert J. Lindley)
As I rest on this high mountaintop
blessings come, they never stop
All my family are blessings to me
shining fruits from a solid tree
The clouds parting early each dawn
sunshine on flowers on the lawn
Looking closer I am content to see
smooth waves upon my family sea
^^^^ Here the thief stopped without posting the remaining part of the poem..
Maybe he thought its ok to only steal part of the poem.-Tyr
