Where Led That Path Not Taken

Where led that path not taken
a tramp into a mist of waving grain
    Away from this God forsaken
racing for ever more foolish gain

    How stands the present crop
thistles and thorns by the wayside
    Will this marathon stop
    seeking my shelter calm Bay-side

    Will time dare to yield
    harvest of sweet, delightful fruits
Can I drop my old shield
steady in faith of my parental roots

Where led that path not taken
a tramp into a mist of waving grain
    Away from this God forsaken
racing for ever more foolish gain

Lost And Too Blind To Ever Again See

We gaily danced the long night away,
    images emerged of kisses deep,
Brilliance songs our love did convey,
a joy that makes hearts weep.

Happiness flew about for a little while,
    as life granted heavenly bliss,
    Walking upon Love's golden mile,
our turn somehow we did miss.

We forgot to hold on so very tight,
with words of love not spoken,
Soon we parted without a fight,
both our souls split and broken.

Alas, healing was simply not to be,
    love had abandoned it's thrill,
Lost and too blind to ever again see,
    saving light upon Romance hill.

Yes, an amazing talent and one to be noticed.

    The Chronicle of the Versemaker

    1818
He hears with his ear, used to do it,
    A whistle;
    He marks, by expiration lurid,
    The scripts;
Then reads to people, very busy,
    His soap;
Then prints – and into waves of Lethe –
    Plop!

He wrote primarily in lyrical poetry but had started writing in prose last few years of his life.
Perhaps the top Russian poetry writer of his era or even any era as many would declare!
I have read perhaps a dozen or more of his poems. Always greatly admired his fantastic talent. -Tyr

It may be interesting to you that Pushkin's language became Russian literary standard. He wrote not only poems, but literary novels too.

Yes, I knew about the novels but my interest lies primarily in poetry.
Tons of great Russian literature thats not been translated, I suspect Russian poetry too that has not been translated into English.-Tyr

It's a great pity that nowadays the majority of children do not read as much as we did in their ages. And they must be pushed and forced to not to become ignorant, narrow minded and one-dimensional. I compare nowadays school program and that of my time and I am really disappointed. Thanks to Lord that I have a home library of hundreds volumes, collected for dozens years. It was a great help to give an additional "home education" to my children and grand children. Besides, I forced I forced them to attend musical school. My son and my daughter are already grateful for this. Grand children are not yet. The time has not come yet.

She Was Twenty-One And Sexy As Hell

She was twenty-one and sexy as hell
her curves rang my lusting bell.
Hair that hung to her slim waist,
her lips so pretty I wanted a taste!

Legs that promised a higher delight
girl I desired every single night.
Eyes that shouted out loving blue,
just promising hot nights with you!

Sweet voice that shouted sexy is me
I the willing flower, you are my bee.
That walk, her hips swinging in rhyme,
caused me to promise her all my time!

First night my eager mind was blown
that body slew me when it was shown.
She then taught me I needed much more,
a big job but she was up to the chore!

Second night,I just barely could move
she had worn out my mightiest groove.
Delights that sear my mind even today,
a hot baby and more I dare not say!

She was twenty-one and sexy as hell
her curves rang my lusting bell.
Hair that hung to her slim waist,
her lips so pretty I wanted a taste!

    Robert J. Lindley

Note: Written long ago about a hot gal
I have never forgotten and could never forget
Yes, she was one of those! She moved to Cali, I lost track
    of her after that..

My poem was featured at my poetry site last week and I never even knew about . I've been busy with personal business and the death of my mother-in-law in the Philippines during that time.

Here is the poem and comments about it being featured . I did not post all the comments when it won second place in a contest before that. -Tyr

Majesty Of The Bird Of Prey

Majesty Of The Bird Of Prey
    (Eyes of the Hawk)

In wilderness flies the bird of prey
above the earthly fight and battle
Far from immense foaming ocean spray
far above pastures and fat cattle
Gliding along spying for its meal
with those sharp all seeing eyes
Blessed with sharp claws of steel
marauder of the gentle blue skies
Soaring in wait for its coming kill
be it furry animal, fowl or fish
Nature blesses with awe, good or ill
such meaty meals, what a tasty dish

To its victims what a monster it may be
A wonder to we that can much further see.

    Robert J. Lindley

Note: The splendor and beauty of Nature awes us but there is the savage
side to be seen too. And that savage side teaches us that sacrifices to
survive require the ending of life of others.
Nowhere is that better seen or understood than in the actions of the
earth's predators. Those that fly interest me more, for as young boy
I dreamed of flying thousands of times.

The Bloom Off The Flower,The Dying Rose

Old,blind and very ill, they wait to die
Growing cold with chill they sadly lie
Ravages of Time eats away heart and might
Until sunny day becomes a darkened night

In this world Time brings on that spirit
Savaging body,so silent we never hear it
Broken down, resting in an old folk's home
Sad dying souls never again to ever roam

As Death arrives there is no ringing bell
only the one way trip,to Heaven or Hell
Or the trip into a dark and long dirt nap
buried deep into the grave's earthen trap

What was once singing, love and solid gold
now is sin's judgment on these dying old
The bloom off the flower, the dying rose
cries all face it,venturing where it goes!

    Robert J. Lindley, 06-18-2015

    Sea Tumbling With Contentment

    Beyond the time of complaining
in the fogs of future regrets
    Dreaming of short days remaining
and great loves not known yet

    Crossing the land of wonderment
could one so in love find
    The comfort of soul's placement
or ease of a rested mind

    Yet deeper in that enchantment
    What is greater than Love
    A sea tumbling with contentment
    blessing sent from above

    Shadows Resting On Stones

I follow the birds of night seeking a roost,
place to rest my old, weary head on high.
Looking down below for my heart's big boost,
as the lonely eerie darkness drifts on by!

I follow red racing lines of my future fate,
on paths strewn with big jagged boulders.
Seeking deeper knowledge of life not too late,
fill this head resting upon my shoulders!

I follow a ghost of her soft, sweetest caress,
thin mystical veil of gently mercy sent.
Behind the wail of all that I dare confess,
sins, pains and past life so ill spent!

I follow the shadow of a fleeing old man.
From the boiling pot into the frying pan!

    Hope Cooks Its Morning Meal

Dark shadows of death it enshrouds,
    roaring lightning in storming clouds
Flames it destroys as it dares burn
Hope lives and truly enjoys its turn

Sunset may cloak beauty of the hills
    long before creeping dawn-time chills
Yet its mercy screams out very loud
candlelight given unto good and proud

Deep in morn's lingering misty fogs
echoes songs of glistening waking frogs
Far above the ancient nighttime croaks
    angels remove earthly blinding cloaks

At the head of the cool, gurgling brooks
Hope sits to eat lively, the meal it cooks!

    A Shadow Emerges

    As light was shining bright
    a shadow crossed the scene
A curse in the day and night
    bile spilled from the spleen;
    Sickness invades a absent mind
    doubts attack with no reprieve
    Thoughts invade,darkest kind,
Hell acts daily we must believe

Shadow has now taken its form
    light's splendor it now deforms!
