God's Poetry Of Stars And Its Deep Verse

God's poetry of stars, and its deep verse
a play HE need not ever rehearse.
    Heavens filled with stars shining,
poets sweetly writing ,loving and opining.

God's poetry of earth, and its deep verse
healthy love and life needing no nurse.
Majestic rivers, lakes and cool, cool streams
endless wonders and heads filled with dreams.

God's poetry of mankind, and its deep verse
ever forward, no need to reverse
Roads to travel, love and promised paradise
needing no more, such will surely suffice.

God's poetry of earth, a well for our thirst.
God's poetry of earth, in his Love we are first!

    Robert J. Lindley, 08-09-2015

Tempests That Eat Upon This Stony Shore

There lay hidden, shadows in that great storm
tempests that eat upon this stony shore.
Night hides devils wrecking such great harm
destroying that our hearts most adore!

Waves crash into massive rocks that so shield
soft play grounds of white sanded beaches.
Harsh winds beat the flowers in bright field
all are savaged as its darkness reaches!

Memories hold treasures we pray remain safe
flashes of beauty existing only hours before.
Fast stormy missiles blast all as they strafe
wrecking havoc and destruction ever more!

Save our souls, we deeply, earnestly do pray
Give us this gift, that we again see light of day!

    Robert J. Lindley, 09-16-2015

Note-This poem was written by me back in early 90's.
I decided to bring it from my private journal and present it here with a very minor edit.
In the last verse, I changed the word "joy" to --"gift"...

Heeding The Wisdom Of Ancient Sages

Spit on the blinded world in denial
walking hastily the straight and narrow.
Waste not time drinking from poison vial
plant destiny's seeds with better harrow.

Preparing the soil in its sweet splendor
never wasting time in useless pleasures.
Achieve something great to children render
    other than usual earthly treasures.

Waking to morn's glow by the sun's bright light
heeding the wisdom of ancient sages.
Find your mountain, climb to its greatest height
looking downward and backward through the ages.

Spit on the blinded world in denial.
Waste not time drinking from poison vial.

    "APHRODITE"

I flew to Olympus, to find its heart
armor intact against Hades' dark wrath.
At birth the power of light made its start
as Homer's ghost sent me upon my path!

Yet there I found only an empty throne
where mighty Zeus in honor firmly reigned.
So sad! For no lighted wisdom was shown.
Such that grievous and blue, my heart was pained!

The God of ancient Greece had lost its might,
surrendered sacred glory, and his crown,
Love destroyed at Aphrodite's first sight.
No escape from pain; my heart’s sorrow drown.

My fate was cursed by her passions lure,
ashen remains of a heart once so pure.

Note: Note: It was my great and sincere pleasure
collaborating with my friend Teppo Gren on this poem.
His contribution and poetic insight was truly amazing
    and concluding verses astounding.
My friend, you have my sincere thanks.

Tinge Of Purple Rests Within My Heart

A tinge of purple rests within my heart
Soft touches of a tired old soul.
Now pulling mightily on a heavy empty cart
Often my world seems to be a lump of coal.

I hear thumps of acorns falling down
That majestic oak sheds its great seeds.
Old age has me feeling like a sad clown
Longing to ride yet again, runaway steeds.

Tis winter! Culprit bringing its bleak cold
Seeds resting secure in the frozen ground.
Spring will come and out they come so bold
And yet again life comes right on around!

Nature teaches me that it will be alright.
Life and death matches, like day and night!

    Robert J. Lindley, 1-26-2016

Note: My muse woke me at 4 am to write this.
I told her no but she nagged until I rose to
do the deed. I' tell ya , I want to strangle her
sometimes but then at other times love her to
    death..

Note: repetition of the word "heavy" is intentional and used for effect, both the old soul and its life's burdens are currently found to be very heavy to bear. Norm be damned says I. Poet's prerogative quite aptly applied.

Nature's Wonders Never Seem To Grow Old

    I saw the beautiful scene in great awe;
    As sun's last lights beat down red-gold;
Such was Nature's sweet visual call-
Nature's wonders never seem to grow old.

Those last few moments set my heart alight,
In heaven and earth's soft meeting fold.
Such scenic views appearing just before night-
Insure Nature's gifts never grow too old.

    The night's stars came to glorify the trees;
    Another gift that heaven sent, I am told;
Where heaven and earth both use beauty's keys-
Nature's wonders never seem to grow old.

The joys of Nature's wonders never grow old.
On that beauty and blessing I am dearly sold!

Where Green Forests Wrap Desirous Land

A cross the midnight divide in a shroud,
this soul sails upon glistening gold wings.
There with vanity, what pride allowed,
my seeking heart wanders and sings.

Beneath snow covered summit my joy shouts
where green forests wrap the desirous land.
To find me, hire the greatest Native scouts
for I move with the animal band.

Along the nearest flowing river's banks
each morn I rise giving eternal praise.
There, I give my Native American thanks,
in escape from dark cities wretched haze!

Across that deep divide my spirit dwells,
no longer enduring man's living hells.

Sonnet, for a single contest as I no longer try to do the many contests.

    Revised- final version

Where Green Forests Wrap Desirous Land

Across the midnight divide in a shroud,
this soul sails upon glistening gold wings.
There with vanity and what pride allowed,
my seeking heart wanders along and sings.

Beneath snow covered summit my joy shouts
where green forests wrap the desirous land.
To find me, hire the greatest Native scouts
for I move on with the animal band.

Near to the sweetest flowing river's banks
each morn I rise to give eternal praise.
Give this, my Native American thanks,
escaped I, from dark cities wretched haze!

Deep in that huge divide my spirit dwells,
no longer enduring man's living hells.
