Poetic Words Given To Today's Youth

If each bite of this world is so bitter tasted
Youthful years have flow on by, most of them wasted
And your deepest dreams that fruited, are now dying
You will find, to little avails your sad crying.

If breaking heartache has become your bosom friend
Life drags on, its merciless curses never end
And in dead of dark nights, dread eats into your soul
Look back at your trashed hours and your lone empty bowl.

If you beg for more years to waste as a blind fool
Each day, you prove you are a worthless sorry tool
And you know you have hurt many in your heyday
You will have only one course, bow your head and pray.

These words they may appear too hard and maybe trite.
Yet the blind may only see if they regain sight.

Each New Dawn, I Beg Morn's Light To Erase

Of what darkness does this dreadful beast hail
with its sharp fangs, long claws and pointy tail
is it from midnight realm Poe created
or a curse of which my soul is fated?

On special nights it both growls and loud speaks
about how Death will be come in mere weeks
then how it will kill all those I cherish
curse sent, that all my beloved perish!

Each new dawn, I beg morn's Light to erase
this dark thing that spits venom in my face
or cast back into pits of hell's making
swear my vices to soon be forsaking!

No word comes back me to give me good cheer
Could it be, beast is my own mind, in fear?

Note: I have again restarted my drive to get some my old poems out of the dark and into the light of day.
The ones that are in my private journals and have only ever been seen by me and many of those not seen
even by me in decades. This one is a dark sonnet inspired by a dream, rather a nightmare..
Back in 79' I often drank a glass of fine whiskey before hitting the bed to sleep. Just to take the edge off
you know. Looking back now, I believe that it only replaced the edge into my dream realm it seems..- lol -Tyr

Presenting two new sonnets to this thread this morn. One was written this morn, while the other was written 25 years ago.
I hope you may read and enjoy both. -Tyr

    (1.)

Where Beams Forth, Return Of Lifesaving Light

Great sorrows that press upon weeping chests
weigh in deep the heartache of dear Hope lost
from highest of shining mountaintop crests
cast into abyss, at pain's greatest cost.

As despair sails forth in black-masted ship
over salty tears, fallen from ones soul
as misery, causes courage to slip
and agony digs deeper, its black hole.

    Trepidation and midnight cries abound
as malignant horror grows from sad moans
there is no new hope, no paradise found
    just music, unforgettable tones.

Where beams forth, return of lifesaving light
As calamity eats up the long night?

    (2.)

I That Troddeth Through Flames Of Hades To Burn

I that troddeth through flames of Hades to burn
Sheddeth my blacken, snakelike and scaly skin
As glowing embers scorch me, this I did learn
Man has no other course but to wallow in sin.

This dark world, its ungodly gifting of pleasure
Holds sweetest, that taste of our depraving lusts
As evil enfolds life and casts its false treasures
Its blackened winds destroy with their hidden gusts!

Pray tell, which saving grace awaits one's reaching hand
And will wield power, to a long, lost soul rescue
Doom and gloom are true shadows within this land
As rushing storms fly forth to envelope me and you!

As I pray, will you understand my great woe?
Should I run far away, will you too, dare to go?

    Sonnet Doubles, Forty Year Span

What Great Love, Our Memory Shall Remain

What is left when I am buried and dust
ancient grave upon which a white-stone rests
vanished shades of a future we did trust
as if that one great wave would never crest!

What great love or memory shall remain
when deepest of sleep, centuries accrue
will it matter wealth, worthless earthly gain
as paying of the pied piper comes due?

What truth, shall weigh in as ones repentance
when exposing light shines its judging gleams
will sad regrets reduce final sentence
or give power to mercy graving dreams?

Pray tell, can great sorrows yield forgiveness?
Birthing mercy a gift, divine kindness?

Fate Peeled Back Its Deepest Dark Curtain

Fate peeled back its deepest dark curtain
leaving nothing to chance, all certain
this year the bravest of heroes dies
golden streets flooded with angel cries.
What justice, one so young shall perish
midst of love of those he so cherish
roars not a harder, greater anguish
than living through and in pain languish
With hunger for life, for love's sweet touch
so cursed and sadly fated such
Fate, its massive powers so decreed
    greatest hero on battlefield bleeds
    steps into eternity, no seeds
grave now hidden by overgrown weeds!

Earth's Porch, Beyond Its Heavy Gate
    Sonnet number I of XII

From dawn, its rays boldly gleaming,
    spring flowers covering new fields,
Nature, beasts and plants both teeming
their bounty true, as treasured yields.

In this world, sun gifts us power
tho' we oft waste its deep treasures.
From its passing we judge our hours,
    while racing seeking more pleasures.

Upon night's falling, its black veil
Lo! The blackness and its dark walls
Fear, we see black as its own hell
and inside rings low ghostly calls.

Earth's porch, beyond its heavy gate.
Arms of fury held, Time awaits.

Earth's Porch, Beyond Its Spinning Turns
    Sonnet number II of XII

From its Heavens, moon, starry nights
    glistening rays that set afire,
Hope and heart, dancing twins in flight
    to humanity thus inspire.

Within Time and longings that stir
dreams entwined in soul's loving dance
Rests love's great cause, in finding her
    angel of true fated romance.

Among the throngs that planet hold
its ripe apples ready to eat
Are those rare gems, ones never sold
    treasure, if victory thus greets.

Earth's porch, resting in wondrous awe.
Destiny of man is to fall.

Earth's Porch, Beyond Its Fallen State
    Sonnet number III of XII

Bright the hopes of dawn's new reprieves
blessing some days with so much more,
World rebels, with its lies deceives
    all of man's weaknesses explore.

Not enough, earn ones daily bread
    world adds, vile insatiable greed
    Darkest paths it promotes instead
selling such false steps as great needs.

    Warmth, flickering flames oft inspires
gluttony of flesh and dark acts
Wanting much more, greed never tires
    black-trails made into virgin tracts.

    Earth's porch, looking into abyss
    Humanity begs more of this.

Earth's Porch, Within Its Spinning Storms,
    Sonnet number IV of XII

    Sad days of great calamities
within spinning storms, of lost hope
    Man cries out, his infirmities
begs to be hung by a new rope.

World gifts many its meager meal
its stale loaves on shattered plates
Kids joining gangs, with new friends steal
    only starving can one relate.

Alas! Greater dark eats its share
    spreading hatred in its parades
    Innocence bellows, its not fair
the ease of these savage charades.

    Earth's porch, looking into abyss
    Humanity begs more of this.

    Earth's Porch, Embracing Spring's Rebirths,
    Sonnet number V of XII

Mark the blessings of Spring's new rains
cascade of showers and new life
Start of relief, from winter's pains
true gift of fading away strife.

From glowing of gems comes bright smiles
hope and joy in this season's birth
Joining of delight, to walk miles
have newfound faith for all its worth.

For he that shuns not loving light,
may learn yet again to re-see
Open eyes to far greater sight
beauty of heart's gifts, shade of tree

    Earth's porch, looking into abyss
    Humanity begs more of this.

Earth's Porch, Sunny, Sweet Summer Breeze,
    Sonnet number VI of XII

Barefoot and walking white beach sands
    waves meeting shore gentle splashing
    Sandcastles built, kids busy hands
all about, they with smiles flashing

Beauty of Life, this glowing scene
    peaceful calm enters eager soul
    Seeking more, those rambunctious teens
yet unaware of world's great toll

Feeling cool winds, deep need to pray
for this dear happiness will flee
Ask God's love, be blessed to stay
with full faith in the trinity

    Earth's porch, looking into abyss
    Humanity begs more of this.

As I Walk Hard Narrow Path, Dust In My Mouth

I walk hard narrow path, dust in my mouth
Just a poor farm-boy, born in the dear South,
With edges slippery and turns so quick
Oft so weary, too often so damn sick.

Trudging on through, into midnight's dark cast
Praying my courage will forever last,
And in my dreams, I meet my angel here
She of sweetest heart and devoid of fear.

Each new sunset , I watch those red-burnt rays
Muttering words, as only poor boy prays,
In wind's soft blows, I hear, "patience rewards"
Step thee lively, avoid the broken shards!

I walk hard narrow path, dust in my mouth
Just a poor farm-boy, born in the dear South.

This My Heart Cries Out, Is But A Sad Song

I shall drinketh not of Life's poison draught
Nor when famished, yield to its pleading thirst
Of Hope, goodness in Life, I was this taught
    What ego so swells, it will also burst;
As man walks in darkness his steps faltered
In that weaken heart, black enters and grows,
He becomes a horse so firmly haltered
It rests between death's first destroying rows.
This my heart cries out, is but a sad song-
Man is a creature doomed to his demise,
He walketh edge of abyss, helped along
By each tempting lust evil can devise.
When sorrows demand, I death must embrace
I speaketh true,- "nay, such is a disgrace"!

Sweetest Of Moans, From Her Desirous Lips

Sweetest of moans, from her desirous lips
echoes night's glory, its fruits partaken
we had collided as love seeking ships
that each, our sad pasts, we had forsaken.

With cargo born, heart's resplendent fires
our search, with its sweetest treasures thus found
gave us cause to join in love's hot desires
and with fervor beg for chains to be bound.

Now in paradise berth, we each swore all
of deep passions to entwine in love's grip
to fight this hard world, united stand tall
swearing to never let true romance slip.

Docked and riding such sweet and peaceful waves.
We gave thanks, to a Love that truly saves.

One Of The Deepest Mysteries Of Life

If the wistful wind sighs, and I take my last breath
will my mortal soul weep only at this, my death?
Can man live, our existence ever understand
death is natural, its living we must withstand?

If years eat away at eager heart, soul and mind
can true love and moonlight stroll release such a bind?
Shall warm kisses found under bright glistening stars
banish sad memories, remove deepest of scars?

If sent, will blessings renew hope and faithful thought
on the correctness of Love, the kind never bought?
When whispering winds proclaim Life is too cruel
know this, Love is the most magnificent jewel.

If heart and soul can unite to dear romance seek.
Into vagaries of Life and Fate we may peak.

Hold Thy Judgment, Truth Is Not So Well Seen

Hold thy judgment, truth is not so well seen,
Thou, that sits in luxuries and decides!
Fate and Time, can both, off the path careen
Into deep hellish dark, that life oft hides
While this teeming world, its course wildly sets,
Mere mortals must walk upon broken glass!
Far too oft, we are forced to take our bets
On when to stop our race, when to fly pass.

If thy heart seeks truth, its binding powers,
Light thee brighter candles, to see life clear.
Walk without fear of black shadow towers
And within thine own heart strive thee to hear,
Striking notes of love's romance sounding clock
Even should it send, that which mind so shocks!

Holmes And Baskerville Both Had Vicious Hounds
Sonnet Doubles, A Poet's Deeper Thoughts

I Will Not Fiddle To New Hollow Tunes

I will not play fiddle to hollow tune
nor beg day, be lit by pale light of moon
life to have worth, must not be so deceived
for with truth suffering can be relieved.
This heart has much dark's evil eluded
will not now, its cover be denuded.

I will not dance to vanities now set
nor walk wicked paths such as life begets
living happy, requires morals and pride
not lies which others behind now hide.
This heart has much dark's evil eluded
will not now, its cover be denuded.

I will not bow to today's false new course
Too oft such error leads to great remorse.

Holmes And Baskerville Both Had Vicious Hounds

Writing into dark is not out of bounds
Holmes* and Baskerville* both had vicious hounds
Life is far, far more than our blinded eyes can see
Composing poems, now major part of me.

Into that deep, oft hides creative spark
Shadows that play or lurk in the black dark
In such realms, great imagination swells
Be it of woe'some nightmares born of hells!

Oft there is master Poe, Raven and me
Making darker verse portraits, just we three
Scary tales of death, red blood, spilled guts
Fantasy so deep, others may think nuts!

So please join master Poe, Raven and me
As we ride into deeper born fantasies!

The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Originally serialized in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902, it is set largely on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country and tells the story of an attempted murder inspired by the legend of a fearsome, diabolical hound of supernatural origin. Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr. Watson investigate the case. This was the first appearance of Holmes since his apparent death in "The Final Problem", and the success of The Hound of the Baskervilles led to the character's eventual revival.[2]

One of the most famous stories ever written,[2] in 2003, the book was listed as number 128 of 200 on the BBC's The Big Read poll of the UK's "best-loved novel."[3] In 1999, it was listed as the top Holmes novel, with a perfect rating from Sherlockian scholars of 100.[4]

As He Still Sees, Poison Arrow In Flight
    (Sonnet doubles series,)

For Only Inflamed Passion, Can This Death Explain

She hung a huge millstone around my neck
breaking my world asunder, my life wreck
I first found love's glory in her dark eyes
later to found out our love she denies!

Bound fast and trapped in her sexy allure
lost in ardor thinking her angel pure
I walked for her a torn, jagged mile
all for a kiss and her promising smile!

With swirling world shattered she laughed at me
her ample bosom swelling up with glee
All the more my immense desires raged on
until I slow bled out cut to the bone!

Yes, her sexy body drove me insane
Only inflamed passion, this death explains.

As He Still Sees, Poison Arrow In Flight

As that poison arrow his heart entered
he saw love broken, as its truth splintered
only seconds to think he cried out loud
it is you my love under that black shroud.

She shuttered, her heart about to explode
light exposed terrible lies she had told
he saw her evil and wanted to leave
she would play her part and soon truly grieve.

She bent over and kissed his dying brow
asking, can you my evil- see it now
Last words, uttered in heartbroken pain
Yes love, and your dark will always remain.

They say his grave deep-moans on moonlit nights
As he still sees, poison arrow in flight.

    Chosen Quote:
"Delicious tears! The heart's own dew."
    Letitia Elizabeth Landon.

    Beautiful Sadness

As morn births bold new welcoming relief
in dawn's deepest gasping of wonderment
Life thrives upon true love, not morbid grief
for beauty's depths are purest contentment.

Whether tears are falling from joy or pains
heart and soul together, sweet as morn's dew
    with happiness Life's serenity gains
magnificent fruits of treasure come due!

True and so delicious such worthy meals
rewarding our fortitude, hopes and dreams
within such bliss sweetest pleasure we feel
flows forth as clearest waters in cool streams!

When mortal heart, true master will obey
Faithfulness is born, that will never stray!
