When Sweet And Soft Morn No Longer Calls Out

When heart is broken, ocean is drained
All becomes sad-blue, all life is stained
Dawn brings epic sorrows, no real relief
Ripped and torn, shattered some beliefs
Midnight moon casts down that terrible blue
    Everything sad even shining new.

When heart is broken, ocean is drained
All becomes sad-blue, all life is stained

When sweet and soft morn no longer calls out
And life cries for hope, with dark mourning shout
Hours flow forth like whimpering aches of day
All the green blades of grass seem morbid gray
Hurt promises to let other shoe drop
And mind wonders shall this agony stop.

    Robert J, Lindley, 9-14-2022
    Sonnet

Born from a poet's heart that has seen too much sorrow and loss.
Dedicated to those lost. And to my dear friend Connie Marcum.
I truly think she would have loved this one.
As she saw the merits in sad, dark and truth in life should be represented in poetry.

Hurry destiny cries it is too late,
Strolling deep within, horrific the sounds
So strangely pungent the circling winds

Now so afraid, through weeping years I trod
Yet pushed, ever onward, I dare tread
My shield, simply faith in Light and my God

Haven't heard from Robert since mid-September. He also stopped posting on the poetry site that he belonged to. No response from an email to what he has on record but can't know for sure if that is still used or not.

His brother and his wife passing took it's toll on him, I know that from msg'ing with him. I just hope and pray that he is fine and just taking a long break. He's had me concerned for a few months now.

Under Golden Moonlight, The Monster Met Its Match

    Having recuperated the hero,
With sword drawn cut the massive monster deep
Saying to the beast, " that one is for keeps "
As flowing blood spilled like a hard rain
Hero called out, " now don't you go to sleep"
No hurting pain my friend, no newfound gain
The beast then stood up, and growled out a scream
Are you puny man a ghost or bad dream
Hero replying, feels like a bad dream
At that moment the cut monster slashed out
But he was slow hero stepped about
Plunged his sharp saber in even deeper
He then cut off the monster's massive head
Watch as its body fell and bled bloody red.

Reprieve, A Return From Ashes And Dust

When heart dares to live again seek
Hope comes gifting a little peek
Over rainbow and a bit beyond
Out far past shores of ones' small pond
Beyond mountains found in our dreams
Beyond greed and our worldly schemes
A return from ashes and dust
    Finding happiness is a must
For there is no life without joy
    Returning, one must this employ
    Courage to risk falling apart
So hard to repair broken heart
Dawn cries out, rise to love renew
Others have done that, so can you!

    Robert J. Lindley, 7-12-2022
    Sonnet

    Note:
    Riverbank, watching waters flow
Living with aching pains in tow
    Golden moon above shining down
    Heaven above, its glowing gown
I ask, Lord what is left of me
Am I truly this fallen tree
Then heard is a clear booming shout
Open your eyes, look all about
Again strive to see, light is free
You do have a true friend in me.

What Lies In The Betwixt And The Between

What lies in the betwixt and the between
Heaven and hell, this world's darkest of scenes
Mankind wallows in the deepest of sin
Parades in blackest deeds, from early teens
Dare we to such foul actions then decry
Whilst our own deep darkness we seek to hide
As we walk under the malevolent moon
Into a land devoid, absent of sky
From this dastardly dream, this nightmare I woke
My legs still broken, my tongue cut off
And a whisper carried from far away
Suffer some more, for this curse is no joke.

As my mind then realize I was fast asleep.
I thought something learned was very deep.

Are We To Believe Lies Dark World Has Told

When I hope for goodness to always win,
Ride my old horse well before break of dawn,
While nature gifts its beauty of a fawn
Am I to be chastised for my sins
" Doth our God his blessed rewards withhold" ?
Mother sky sends its hardest lightning blasts
Shining glory its gleaming arrives at last
Dare we not with this exposure be sold
Can the written word its powers yet give
As poet or a sane man declares
Is it not Holy of Heaven that cares?
Are we not to love life and thus we live.

Am I now just a vessel too damn old?
Are we to believe lies dark world has told?

Born With Stone-Chips In My Ancient Viking Blood

I stand against the world and its most evil wrongs
Born with stone-chips in my ancient Viking blood
My greatest heroes immortalized in great songs
As they eliminated those of barbaric crude
All had magical shields and a flaming hot sword
Words given to them by higher power beings
Enough victorious battles as not to be bored
And illumination from Heaven for their seeing
Achilles hero, was one of greater fable fame
His life was destined to die as a brave man
All of this world has now learned his noted name
So many more heroes had such amazing plans
Life is so massive, history tells not the all
Vast armies of such evil dastardly ruffians
Marched forth to innocent people maim and kill
Only to be stopped by brave feats of Christians.

    Robert J. Lindley, 6-20-2023

Whispering Shadows Are Waltzing To That Undulating Beat

Moon by day is a faintly cast glow, a poetic dance
If Love's hand in play, it is a fabulous gold romance
Spinning round the sky for the audience's delicious glee
Oh, my lover that is the beauty for both you and me
As we enjoy and watch the parade in Mother sky
Yet quite oft a message resides within asking the why
Whispering shadows are waltzing to that undulating beat
As humanity rejoices in finding new ways to cheat
Alas! There always is a very steep-set price to pay
For Heaven always has the final, truer, righteous say
Our Lord rejoices when we heed those biblical held laws
Else we in deep pain, wake up to deep slashing devil's claws!

Dare we in blind ignorance walk a sad crooked trail?
Follow loud, baying hell-hounds right into unholy hell?

Mother Nature Showed Me Many Styles

Yesterday, I walked a thousand miles
Over hill and dale, through the verdant wood
Saw baby ducks walk by in quacking file
Did not stop to rest or maybe I should
Came to the old elm, now looks to be dead
But the bird nest above looks to be new
This old mind searching to get rid of dread
Then I thought I heard a soft voice but who
Searching about but nothing could I find
But Mother Nature and her great wonders
Just enough to appease wondering mind
I next sat down to that odd thought ponder.

Yesterday, I walked a thousand miles.
Mother Nature showed me many styles.
