Wisdom Found, Upon A Stone Once Cast

Night creeps in, shadows do their dark deeds
So much favors that blackness in night
Nourish the evil hiding in its darkened seeds
too often no gentle mercies and no respite

Where once lay love in a true heart
darkness may slide in to dance and play
A small mischief for a sneaky start
saving the very worst for a future day

Read deeper into this poem and behold
wisdom found, upon a stone once cast
Youth once wasted, regrets when too old
tis small relief, cherishing loves of the past

Night creeps in, shadows do their dark deeds
If truly lost, upon your soul evil feeds

When All Your Dreams Are But Dust

When deep regret meets the day
    rainbows seed no more awe
As one grabbed, thoughtless to pay
no seeing through a crystal ball

Life and love, mysteries to be found
    colors often dimmed by greed
Time the obstacle, no way around
    fruits harvested from darkest seed

Fate in this world, mercy rarely given
knobs on doors with no keys
Life brings bad, when its blind liven'
    no regrowing hollow burnt trees

When all your dreams are but dust
You are brittle iron covered in red rust

Yet Hope Promises A New Dawn Each Day

I have forgotten when I lost my way
was it clear of morn or deep dark of night,
my mind wanders so far back to replay
images that may in some way bring the light.
Journey into haze of past hopes and dreams
there, descending into dark pits to fight,
memories of lost love and futile schemes
yet still in blindness not knowing whats right.
Lost, looking up, begging for heaven's hand
beaten beggar, crying out in sad pleas
Remembering once , music in life's band
free sailing upon youth's gentle blue seas

I have forgotten when I lost my way
Yet hope promises a new dawn each day

Life Is Not Pie Nor Blessings From A Wishing Well

Shall I be punished, for riding my horse into Hell
for spurring into blazing fires to feel the hot burn
Life is not pie nor blessings from a wishing well
often its the good from which confused hearts turn.

Shall I be exalted, for the little good I have done
for feeble gifts given even with sincere heart
Or chastised, for times fear caused me to run
denying love that promised a happy new start.

Will Fate ever give, that final answer to my dreams
or keep me as is, lost in wilderness, crying there
Racing on, forever wading in muddy streams
looking for that true love, beyond compare.

Once a rose kissed me and its touch was so divine
in mad hunger, I sought another on which to dine.

A Look At Death And Old Age

Death is but change into another form
passing on through an ancient weathered veil
Warrior will bravely fight that coming storm
seeking more water from life's magic well

Death just may be a blessing in disguise
relief from hard labors on this sweet earth
If searched deeply, a lesson to the wise
a man fights to live for all he is worth

Death, is but hand servant its master Fate
grabbing souls as Time demands highest pay
Looking back , one finds its always too late
to repair great mistakes of yesterday

Death, you will not take me as gentle lamb
For a fighter, true warrior I am

    That Relentless Struggle

A man may desperately fight his inner self
beat himself senseless until nothing is left
Such inward slashing leaves no visible scar
yet wounds as deep as any found in war

A struggle to defeat real and worse, imaginary foes
adding to, miserably increasing tragic woes
A fight I find myself engaging in on troubled nights
slashing, gashing and delivering bloody sights

As that struggle gets bloody and unrelentingly fierce
heart, soul and mind darkness may pierce
When that ancient battle is about to be done
time brings on brilliant rays of morning sun

When soul struggles to walk back into true light
Life becomes epic battles fought in dead of night

Who Is So Wise As Never To Do Such

Blind drunk, bereft of any semblance of leadership
my mind grows cold and dark skies call out.
A poet has heart and soul even if no readership
enjoys drinking fine wine or dark ale too stout.

What grows and spills ink onto blank page
inspiration, communing with her as she mused
If only, we all could learn from the wisest sage
that if we dare open up- we will be abused.

Blind drunk, bereft of any semblance of leadership
my mind grows cold and dark skies call out.
A poet has heart and soul even if no readership
enjoys drinking fine wine or dark ale too stout.

Perhaps wise, not to feel or drink too damn much
yet who is so wise as never to do such?

Seeing Deep Pain, In Watering Blue Eyes

I was not brave, I did not dare to ask
why she cried, hid behind her weeping mask
Seeing deep pain, in watering blue eyes
matching rainfall from dark, cloudy skies

I had not courage, to find out her plight
nor wisdom -to see evil in plain sight
Her shattered heart, crushed by a cruel fiend
she now lost, nobody dare intervene

If we had met before deep heartbreak struck
I would now hold her and thank my good luck
There she sat, crying outside that June dance
to broken to give her NEW LOVE a chance

Then she saw me and gave a tiny smile
Courage came, I crossed that last fearful mile

To Set Steel To My Heartbroken Resolve

With spirit damaged, I did what I must
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
thereby preventing metal in my blood
from eroding and turning into rust

With heart cut that deep, no true hope remained
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
    keep desirous memory from fading
this sad ole soul, I have forever stained

Loving dreams crushed, I fell into despair
to set steel to my heartbroken resolve,
hold memories just as long as I can
cherish images of your smile and dark hair

Now Time has diminished my great resolve
so die I must, to finally evolve

Note- I hope the reader may enjoy and find something of value in this poem , written about a very sad ending to a most romantic time in my young life.
Written to hold fast a memory although quite sad still a very cherished one, about a lost love from many decades past .
A beautiful lady that was just as wild, as I once was myself.
Dedicated to her memory as she passed away in 2001, almost three decades after our time together ended....

Agony Of Truth Kept The Two Apart

Darkness in her heart, sadly found too late
appearing to come from black pits of Hell
or perhaps evil, random acts of Fate
    unfortunate victim, rarely can tell

Magnificent glow, her clever face mask
    totally believable words she said
an answer for each question one would ask
yet her hidden heart was cold and quite dead

Too late, pain found, she killed the one needed
for all her power could not take back time
    cast into light--SHE truthfully pleaded
her regretful words then not worth a dime

When the Light banished darkness in her heart
agony of truth kept the two apart

Clear Streams And Dreams Dried Into Ghostly Dust

    I have cried in the silent dark of night;
cut deeply by despair and savage Fate.
Dearest love lost is worse than deathly fright
for its depths brought in misery and hate.

    Where, screaming nightmares in howling wind blow;
silent footsteps remind of foolish deeds.
When once, my great pride demanded brutal show,
darkness reign casting its sad, bitter seeds.

    What answer, to greatest treasure once lost;
clear streams and dreams dried into ghostly dust.
Can I, buy back at any future cost
deepest of true love and her faithful trust?

Her image, I see in mind cast in gold,
valueless, for such my heart can not hold.

Love and Forever, Words I Thought Of Thee

A time once, when your faithful heart held mine,
When morning dew sparkled in your blue eyes,
You the banquet - on which my soul did dine
Moon in my heart's dancing midnight skies.

Love and Forever, words I thought of thee
Before death raced forth taking you away
Now my sad tears could fill an empty sea
You gone, no sunshine in my lonesome day.

I seek and fear to never again find,
velvet touch, softness of your sweet hand
Misery reigns supreme in this tired mind,
bringing darkness and drought to this parched land.

Time once, when bright sun and moon united,
now hell's pain of love long unrequited.

Sitting In Darkness, Demons Are The Hosts

On edge, can not see CLEAR sun as it shines
rather seek blood letting from prickly vines
No rhyme or reason, enters such lost mind
just misery and pain- of the worst kind
Into deep valleys, filled with raging ghosts
sitting in darkness, demons are the hosts
Foraging for rope- to hang, end it all
there, unmindful of any healing call
Found, greatest bliss in saturating pain
praying, another desert with no rain
When last shadow brings WITH IT, that last chance
ask for no music but get up and dance

On edge, can not see dear Life as it shines
Step back on the Path, leave those prickly vines

ONE TREE HILL, LIFE THEN JUST A THRILL

One tree hill, life then just a thrill
so long before I dared to roam
In youth Fate delivered no bill
seas so calm , no dark raging foam

When fleeting years had raced away
time when joy ranked over the bad
Springtime, we lived and dared to play
long before bitter brought the sad

One tree hill, now barren- alone
winter gave its shadows and grief
Cold so deep, down into the bone
praying for Spring to bring relief

    Alone- life shows regretful pains
Can Spring wash away such great stains?

Poem written this morn, inspired by the 8 syllable poem written by my very good friend Peter Duggan .-Tyr

    Olive Trees Of Gold

The Olive trees are dressed in gold
It’s morning time the day is cold
The sun beams down upon these trees
That dance upon fresh morning breeze

It’s such a lovely sight to see
These trees brim filled with mystery
How they give to me such pleasure
Dawn it is to me a treasure

    Azaleas in lovely pink
They charm my eyes and make me think
    Of everything that’s beautiful
Sweet mother nature has it all

Enriched I am as I sit here
Beneath a sky so blue, and clear

May Your Chains Be But Rotten Rope

    Of sorrows past, nightly regrets
    empty glasses and barren fields
Vast dying seas and empty nets
broken swords, dead lain upon shields
Sits there, beasts with gleaming green eyes
    waiting another hellish feast
    Below, shackles of moon skies
shining for armies from the East.

Hold tight your dreams of future hope
warmth of home's blazing hot fires
May your chains be but rotten rope
    love blessings before soul expires.

If accosted, stop fast to kneel
resting soul, high looms that next hill

What Fallen Apple Dare One Take Sweet Bite

What value an oracle that denies
Time and Fate both join to join, to create
rich dessert with man's miserable lies
and dish it all up on a dirty plate.

What steady course to set sail on if known
one that in the calm harbor remains safe
Or through stormy skies, there gaily blown
like upward drawn dregs of useless wheat chaff.

What fallen apple dare one take sweet bite
as if sweet happiness would thus be found
for nowhere in mankind's long, futile flight
is paradise sold by penny or pound.

What hope rewards seekers that blessed key
What Light shines forth any and all to see
