Closer We Get, The Farther We Look Back

Sad dying embers of yesterday's feast
interest and feed me not in the least
For the hearty joys that future shall give
heartens me to strive forever to live

Great memories of my family's past
flow blessedly with me until the last
Into the dark void my soul may soon fly
my past good and bad I will not deny

Returning often in my long night dreams
she of ravishing beauty, skin of creams
Memories of loves that took a wrong turn
yet with it all, my restless mind still yearns

Closer we get, the farther we look back
cherish our memories we stay on track

This Aching Heart Cracked Like A Weathered Stone

This aching heart cracked like a weathered stone
fissures though lean muscle and solid bone.
There once dwelt love deep and never ending
now just faded memories rescinding.

There was pure joy in our romantic time
like sweetest rhythm in poetic rhyme.
Never ending nights cast heavenly spells
of truest romance and our planned wedding bells.

Now darkness rides me like a broken horse
while you are racing forth with no remorse.
I miss your soft touch and giving smiles
now time has you away a million miles.

Decades now and my understanding grown
Soul repaired that badly weathered stone.

She-Devil

She never was one to fight
deep depths of anger laced with pain
There were darkness some nights
and red blotches that made a heavy stain

Below was the dreaded empty pit
lair to monsters in ravenous need
Fear ate her heart but she would not admit
her desire to jump on in to feed

Black thoughts raced into her longing mind
where strong currents were fed
There she could walk about naked and blind
or defeat the monsters in her head

Night leaps forth, her hands grew razor claws
she has raw red-meat between her hungry jaws

Sexiest Legs Ever In Her Short Mini-skirt

Sexiest legs ever in her short mini-skirt,
new teacher's sexy appeal made we young boys hurt.
Sixty-nine and seeing more was a young lad's dream
we were all on that dedicated lust-filled team.

Three fantastic female teachers, each broke the mold
we were still naive young boys at fifteen years old.
Our sexual desires were programmed in too deep
O' what dreams we had in our fitful sex-crazed sleep!

Looking back, our live were eager learning curves then
we knowing much but not yet able bodied men.
Magical thoughts of passionate nights interludes
with those young sexy new teachers, none were old prudes.

Our childish little lusting thoughts, trash to be burned.
Big changing world too big, so much to be learned.

Note-- In 1969, our school had three new teachers, fresh from college
hired to teach. Each one was not only drop dead gorgeous but each one
dressed sexy and wore short, short mini-skirts a couple days a week.
We freshmen, most 15 years old, a few at 16 -all were put into a frenzy
and often found it hard to walk to the chalkboard when called to do a math problem..

Reaping Whatever Dark Gods Decreed

Did we dare too much thus reap the bitter wind?
Dark, greedy days creep by, our lives grown far apart
Is this how such treasured and deep love dares to end?
Like cast away trash in a street beggar's cart?

Did we fail, reaping whatever dark Gods decreed?
Penny a ton, garbage flowing into a dump?
Nay my love! We both found our lost, bitter seed.
Fallen from a well-worn, broken treeless stump!

Why did we abandon the blazing heat of our lust?
Step into dark regions to satisfy morbid dreams.
We are thus decayed, our metal eaten with rust.
Joined Fates, destined to be on separate teams!

Yet my love, all you had to do was believe in me.
We both sharing truth from the same golden tree.

Vainly Built Fires

Was it best that we demanded far too much?
Quiet corner to count our blessed days
Or waste away long childish hours and such
like still winds whipping across open bays.

Finding time, the enemy we all feared
We raced along hoping it would not come
Children their bawling eyes frozen and teared
full of conceit , arrogant and just dumb.

Time came on and plowed deep its fertile field
cutting down old, dried wheat and windblown weeds
Forever, its opposition it yields
to that ever growing new crops of seeds.

Man seeking eternal fleshly desires,
perishes in own vainly built fires.

Memory Lost To Honor's Dismay?

Life passed into flowing mystical veil
his time of love and life a mere storm flash.
Fighting in the great war was truly hell
duty and honor thus served, not for cash

Battles with blood and gore steady nightmares
never ending thoughts of his war-lost friends
Buried now six, with no more worldly cares
Perhaps rejoined with his brave soldier friends.

Look back and his bravery thus revealed
what may he have said about discord today.
A hero, he served and now his fate sealed
his memory lost to honor's dismay.

Long life has passed into that unknown world
he valiant standing with his flag unfurled.

Wisdom, Found In Looking Back

Ages ago, what fish might one have dared caught,
with bright rainbow nets and stronger bone hooks.
Adventure found , was such too highly bought
living so wild- rips more than shown in books!

Casting nets to gather more the huge blasts,
nights of love and mornings with deep remorse.
Nothing-not a damn loved thing ever lasts
yet one never knows Fate's wide, hurling course.

And such fine fish, spread in such glowing pools,
each always ripe to be plucked in due time.
Love lost, bitter pain for romantic fools
always searching for new land, better clime.

What of the deeper pools one never finds
saddest regrets, eat old and lonely minds.

Across Earthen Sky And Mystical Realms

And where was the light of truth and spirit?
Parading forth hot, chariots wheels in fires.
The Light sublime, flees when one but nears it
its glowing path vanished as it retires.

Across earthen sky and mystical realms
speeding eagle flies into kingdoms not born.
Such breath of awe, rebels and overwhelms
the soul that finds its deep solitude torn.

Did Greek Gods dare warn of man's futile quests
with deceptive hearts, minds loaded with greed
If in a pure giving heart one invests,
comes forth the fruits of a heavenly seed.

Fruits of paradise, grow in thoughts sublime
man's quest should be more than seeking more time.

I Fight To Know That My Mind Can Still See

I fight to slay dark beasts in broken fields
walking in red-fire and burn like Hell
What is life that such misery it yields
broken souls on pain laden shadow trails.

Where fallen- have angels dared fear to tread
among the ancient ruins of destroyed hope
Nightmares that slow-bleed in warm winter beds
so unhappy to be hung with new rope.

I fight to write words that sing true and shout
of dead fish in currents of poisoned streams
Old souls in darkness dancing all about
longing again their broken shattered dreams.

I fight to know that my mind can still see
this sad spirit still screaming deep in me.

Where Vultures Await Victims On Which To Dine

Where darkness reigned, mercy found no home
Life there is but a blood bath and a game
Every mountain , cries out displaying its red dome
Every slave walks alone, with one leg lame.

The whole is an island with no sun to shine
Deserts with wicked thorns and no soothing shade
Where vultures await victims on which to dine
And every traveler is blinded and easily played.

Burning rains, soak into rapid decaying bones
fanged monsters hide in every dark cave
No lights, no television, computers or phones
just false promises greedy fools forever grave.

At journey's end, red-hot fire searing away rotten skin
exposing evil in hidden darkness in hearts of fallen men

Time Runs On Past Every Bend

Down new trail with purpose and gentle ease
chasing hope and new morn's glowing smile.
Flowing along with a sunrise breeze
heart stopping awe, every once in a while.

Branches overhead wrapped in deep forest green
bird songs filling this emerald isle.
Sun gracing the screaming sky blue sheen
above this leaf carpeted aisle.

Hoping time here never dares to end
as wanting heart finds its needed glow.
Yet find that time runs on past every bend
and brings Nature's all, along in tow.

Whiskey Was Burning, Talking In Third Rate Time

Bloody fist in a broken glass window this sad night
she was willing but my whiskey only wanted to fight.
Stair steps swirling, waiting so far down below
winter was freezing long before this hellish snow.

Midnight has caught me frozen near half to death
her cries were icy and pain in her every breath.
Moon bellowed forth, stick it, twist it in deep
dagger needs its blood before this night's sleep.

Whiskey was burning, talking in third rate time
my soul was broken, not worth a damn dime.
Her heart was cut and her blood ran so cold
She is a devil and my fevered brain now too old.

Each Falls As A Rain Drop From Spider's Web

Within black streams flow and great red-tide's ebb
are ill given fates that linger and play
Each falls as a rain drop from spider's web
for no man may know the hour or the day

On great wheel, life spins in revolutions
heedless of evil human wants and needs
Man spirit, walks not from evolution
rather by true design from blessed seeds

Life and this world filled with harassing winds
nights given into sad, anguishing sleep
Fate flies on and great storms too often sends
black-winds, mankind sinks in far, far too deep

Blind, so lost, man seeks no true solution
Way of the world, raining its pollution

In Spring, far below snowy mountain peak
sun shines bright gifting more abundant life
As massive forest green begins to speak
soon forgotten, is bleak-cold winter strife

Fertile valley blossoms as a Spring child
clear streams flowing filled with colorful fish
Glorious days, tramping into this wild
living within a dream's paradise wish

New crops emerge from blessed valley soil
Nature's castle covers this special place
Reaping reward from new life and hard toil
smiles beaming forth from every happy face

Find such and let your high spirit there fly
Brief is that hour, long is the by and by
