Underground Will Chill Eat Into Thy Bones

Death comes, sometimes ends miserable pain,
shatters dark chains that bind the living soul
What of life shall death allow to remain,
Pretty daises in old broken bowl?

Underground will chill eat into thy bones,
Bitter cold still cursing with deep soul aches
Will blowing wind hear thy sad, pleading moans
If ALL thy loved, falls in decay and breaks?

How is one to know, alone in the dark,
JUST AS DEAD AS ALL ANCIENT EARTHLY STONE
IS THERE, NEW CALLING FOR A SAVING MARK
Or merciful light sent there to be shown?

Sun and sky above, on all still give this,
Chance of living love, the dead surely miss!

    Questions Of Love And Life

    Where does lost love hide
in dry deserts filled with pride
    Behind mountains of hard stone
where traces of white are shown?

    Where does love stand aloof
In hot flames of a burning roof
    Beneath stones on cold ground
    within deep thoughts too profound?

Where will hope give dear relief
in dreams that speak of true belief
Upon seashells on a sandy beach
or warm fires within easy reach?

When will man, find life that shall hold
warmth for each from all the cold?

Like Shadows In My Tired Mind

Like shadows in my tired mind
you danced in wisps of cool breeze.
Your deep treasure I did find
yet you left me with such ease.
I had found thorns on your rose
    holes in your dancing shoes.
Large cuts on your pretty toes
dark truth in your bad news.

Like shadows in my tired mind
you danced in wisps of cool breeze.
Your deep treasure I did find
yet you left me with such ease.

    Such ease, heart finally shattered.
To you- had it ever mattered?

Written mere minutes ago...a challenging request given me from the contest sponsor in a pm at my poetry site.
Asking would I consider writing and entering her new contest -offered only late last night- after her year long absence from sponsoring contests.
Of course I agreed, first because she is a friend, a very kind lady, very talented poetess herself and its her first contest now that she has returned to sponsoring after a lengthy illness.
Here it is , although hastily written --this may not need any edits.
I shall return tomorrow to review it with afresh mind. -Tyr

    A Gem , A Ruby-Red For My Sweet Rose

How great, red rose cheeks of my dancing queen
ruby ring to seal our binding love vows
Fairest of fair, rare jewel to be seen
love given her as deep as life allows

Sparkles from jewels sent to her blue eyes
radiant red glow warmth matching our hearts
Down on my knees, beneath sunny skies
loving ring given as our romance starts

Rarest of reds, deep ruby lips that tease
her soft hand, newly adorned holding mine
Holding her, nothing more could ever please
her lips, color matching ring- both so fine

Ruby red chosen, to match red-hot love
She the angel, sent from heaven above.

    FOR CONTEST-
Ruby - GLOWING RED FIRE- - chosen because to me, no other gem matches the beauty of a large, dark red ruby.
And yes, I once gave a beautiful, dainty ruby-red ring to a lady that meant ALL the world to me.

Thou Art Bright Crimson-In Rose Red-lit Bloom

Thou art bright crimson-in rose red-lit bloom
candles shine to adorn window's full moon
Fragrance of both, rests in thy love's perfume
rare music of romance's most precious tune.

Thy voice sings angel soft, harmonic dreams
taking world worries from defeated souls
Thy glow surpasses lights of fairy queens
soothing as sailing with gentle sea rolls

Immortal thoughts reside within thy breasts
true bounty of thy deeply loving heart
    Romantic moonlight, all it manifests
mirrors thy dear face- treasured work of art.

Shall my quest seek greater than thy touch
I shall refuse - that is a boon too much.

Ten Bucks In His Left Shoe, Bold In His Steps
    (Walking Traveler of Hope)

Walking, each life mile-straight as the crow flies
dancing when fair weather graced bright skies.
Ten bucks in his left shoe, bold in his steps
enemy to world's hatred and dark lies.

Traveler, seeking naught but joy and peace
sworn to defend those seeking hope's release.
Ten bucks in his left shoe, bold in his steps
vowing to make truth his life's centerpiece.

Of Hope, knowing man had such in his heart
belief and wisdom he sought to impart
Ten bucks in his left shoe, bold in his steps
    truth's weapon, overcame evil ramparts

Walking Traveler of Hope, peace his goal.
All that he served, their grateful hearts he stole.

    When Courage Faithfully Flies

Where man's soul and brave heart meets
hope sends great power there to save
Life from death that often cheats
the weak that could be so brave
When faith filled prayer saves man
    truth comes forth and regains
    Happiness- life and love plans
    absent the dirty stains

Where man's soul and brave heart meets
hope sends great power there to save
Life from death that often cheats
the weak that could be so brave

Look to heaven for its power
Man knows not his last day or hour

    *** *** ***

Your loyal words of faith fly
To heart that death so often cheats
With loss that makes her soul sigh
    In painful hopeless heartbeats
Could the weak again be brave
    When faith does not remain?
    Heaven's truth descends to save
    And cleanse sin's darkened stain.

Your loyal words of faith fly
To heart that life so often cheats
With loss that makes her soul sigh
    In painful hopeless heartbeats

Heart now so brave finds new power
New hope gives courage in this hour.

That Silent Storm, No Mortal Man Can Stop

Like a great storm crushing out a desperate sigh
such is unstoppable force when death draws nigh.
In myriad forms that dark angel tramps this world
oblivious to sad pleas mankind may hurl.

Death slays even the strong young or very weak old
stopped not by vows, gems or great hordes of King's gold.
That great sickle cuts anything known to mankind
no hiding place can mortal man ever find.

When that dearest life has flown by, old and quite gray
expect a visit night or sunny bright day.
Death cares not man nor beauty of songbirds on wing
seeking naught but final death of everything.

In your human soul, hold dear this treasure of life.
For this world is dark-old and full of deadly strife.

Should One Bemoan Treasures Stolen Away

Should one bemoan treasures stolen away
    memories fated to forever die?
What of golden touch from yesterday
that longed for embrace, warm as sunny sky.

Under pale moon, dreams ebb into vast space
cherished nights eat into a dark abyss.
O' the soft beauty of her dear sweet face
treasure found best, I will forever miss.

Can such epic loss destroy one's sad mind
turn life into chambers of tormented pains?
What depth despair, losing one of a kind
where love's faintest of hope barely remains.

Life and love, both treasures beyond compare.
What measures needed, even foul or fair?

Valhalla's Hall Holds His Forgiven Heart

Valhalla's Hall Holds His Forgiven Heart

Fallen warrior, his dreams exist no more
just a lone grave in a circle of trees
Great victories, only he kept the score
better had life given him calmer seas.

Across the field shields lay broken and stained
remnants of big clashes harder than stones
Old relics and tales all that remained
his grave now empty, war dogs stole his bones.

Night-winds blow on his lonely resting place
fate's reward for heart fallen and so true
His life, a savage trek with no disgrace
    paradise found, even if overdue.

Death is but a storm that has blown apart.
Valhalla's hall holds his forgiven heart.

Felt like writing this morn--slammed this one out, first draft.

Hold Those Tears Falling From Sullen Skies

Hold those tears falling from sullen skies
floods below, drown the sorrows of lost men.
Enough that mother earth hears thy sad cries
angelic sorrow, weep thou not in sin.

Remain thee stalwart, life may reverse tides
heaping on thee, joy in sweet future times.
Sun again shines, ending dark, stormy rides
thee shall picnic far off in fairer climes.

When mortal spirits race on foolish paths
happiness flows away as morning dew.
Embrace thee not, misdeeds bring evil wraths
walk faithful course, one that is truly new.

Live life, Fate has no power in Hope's lands.
For even Fate yields to angelic hands.

    In My Dreams Of Death

In my dreams of death, my desires create
not a bright, merciful angel there brought.
Dread of death instills fears that permeate
this tired mind and dark trap in which its caught.
Alas! No waking wisdom can there sway
lost soul to embrace blessed saving light.
For power of night's dark defeats bright day
as black shadows rage forth to slash and bite.
Battle starts, alone with two empty hands
night-fear bellows out, you have no power.
Look at these massive monsters night commands
while you cowardly beg dawn's coming hour!

In my dreams of death, my desires create
not a bright, merciful angel there brought.

Note- Written and offered in the spirit of the Halloween season and with my admiration of the greatest dark poetry ever written--that of Edgar Allen Poe.

For I Am Not That Brave

Sombre calls, echoes from memories and lost days
Images appearing only to bring on deep heartache.
Nights envisioned in a daze- her charming ways
such that feelings, break stones for lost love's sake.

Alas! No touch and kiss can ever be allowed
for her ghostly image touches no true earth.
She rare, delicious fruit of rich fertile fields plowed
heavenly rose in bloom from first day of birth.

No more! Epic loss now invades these wishful dreams
light of reality shows dead flowers on her grave.
Never again, seeing her dancing within moonbeams
nor my now joining her, for I am not that brave!

Each night, longing to dance with her once again
knowing when dream ends, comes back far greater pain!

Seeds Sprouted From Deep Within Mother Earth

Where watered are roots from my ancestral tree
in fields sown with pain and bitter harvests
Strong, brave-hearted once truly proud and free
sprouted mighty eagles from fledglings in a nest

Clear streams flowing, deep forests their paradise
the red-man lived life and sang happy songs
Long before whites came with deceit and vice
building towns filled with their lost greedy throngs

Seeds sprouted from deep within mother earth
freedom had its price but gave deep treasures
Living , loving and fighting for all his worth
red-man fought fire with full equal measures

Fate rewarded its deceivers with stolen goods
Now, Nature weeps when whites cuts down ancient woods

Shall We Believe In That Promise Forsworn

Let not hate blind thee to love's true powers
    for within its realm rests treasures untold;
man's walk, missiles are thrown from dark towers
with greater frequency as we get old.
What shields dare we in our hope ever seek,
which sharp swords do we carry to defend
the righteous, the innocent and the meek.
What fruitful crops do we thus truly tend?

As the final winds on setting sun blow
    with no new dawn to give future reprieve;
Spring waters are no longer born from snow
we perish, from world designed to deceive.

Shall we believe in that promise forsworn
when all the world heaps it with utter scorn?

No Longer Will I, Beg For More Sweet Life

No longer will I fight summoning call
refuse to see the nearness of the end.
Mustang racing forth from old empty stall
seeking safe shelter around the next bend.

Never will I fight hoping for dawn's light
lonely broken shell washed by raging tides.
Stay away, you last hope in darkest night
let me leap in bravely where death resides.

Soon will I embrace ghost that loudly cries
reach out, touch those dark, echoing moans.
Find out what such valiant bravery buys
be buried six feet deep covered in stones.

No longer will I, beg for more sweet life.
Find my honor and leave this endless strife.

Where Weeping Willows In Silent Peace Grow

Where weeping willows in silent peace grow
clear mountain streams feed beauty of Snow lake.
Spring rushes down waters from melting snow
earth's most natural, nothing there is fake.

When blue sky smiles upon cabin below
contented man wakes to enjoy the scene.
Nature and its great wonders do so glow
in blue lake waters, ducks swim, feed and preen.

Down to lake shore he goes to catch his meals
    adventurer basking in Nature's sights.
This is just how treasured paradise feels
satisfied days, heaven's bright star filled nights.

Where weeping willows in solitude dance
such a sight can put a man in a trance.

Embrace Again, Thy Vow To Our Love Hold

Send that comfort that in pure heart so swells
sweet desires wherein truest love's faith so dwells
Bind deep in touch with thy seeking lips
where heart's passion over all may eclipse.

Allow thy charm, the power to thus heal
sadness and heartache my mind now does feel
In doing, melt tortured darkness away
thus holding my darkest demons at bay.

Gift the blessed warmth of thy smile's bright glow
recalling our walk in first Christmas snow
Embrace again, thy vow to our love hold
let our union be strong as life unfolds.

As morn races forth to find thy night's best
side by side, may in love both our heads rest.
