If Last Poet Sent Last Verse Out To Fly

If last poet sent last verse out to fly
would man vanish into swallowing sky.
Or would Nature then act as it renews
with new birth to paint earth in rainbow hues.

If man lost this art in his great errors
wading into abyss of woeful blight.
Would life reek of agony and terrors
compounded by wicked pains in dark of night.

If last poet saw pen and muse perish
could Nature and earth stand the massive void.
In this life, poets gift us words to cherish,
sweet fruits in which many are overjoyed.

If last poet, failed mankind in despair
Could mother earth and Nature then repair?

For This Journey Seeks To, Like An Eagle Fly

If for thee, this poet's words are inspiring
read with clear seeing eyes and hear with thine ears,
for I write with my mind's heart perspiring,
too often with trepidation and great fears!

For this journey seeks, to like an eagle fly
all about- words in rhyme rising to obey,
those night stars in a most glittering sky
and rest to play under bright sun each day!

If in thy longings, romance seeks thy hands
words in poetic verse may yet set thee free,
often we poets write in our word launching bands
with heart, soul and inspiration the key!

Grant mercy, for our lonely, mysteries roads
In heart of hearts we may write in ancient codes.

Regrets And Bitter Memories Echoing Again

Such a crazy-wild young life, sad sad tale
stubborn in wicked ways brought on pure hell.
Never saw danger, I afraid to face
sought out thrills in many an evil place.
Same ole story, life wild as hell and free
Same bad results, worst costs paid back by me!
I forgot dad's story, how stones don't fly
live the moment just for the me and my.

Flights of fancy, pretty gals rewards
to foolish to see darkness in the cards
Once sure, life was just another tough fight
now seeing blessings wasted in hindsight
Looking back, I find myself much older
fires long dead, O' how they do smoulder.

In My Old Age, I See With Sunshades Too Bright

In my old age, I see with sunshades too bright
I need much darker to hide past gritty stains.
In my old age, I feel down , not at all light
I need forget that stuff pills for my mental pains.

In my night dreams, I talk to shadow creatures
I need tape recorder to prove how they scream.
In my night dreams, nothing but rerun features
I need a dam, to block such never ending streams.

In my writings, I speak of ancient lost times
I need sweet mercy, for my sins are so great.
In my writings, wall clock rarely ever chimes
I need much faster pens, so as to not be late.

In my old age, every damn thing begs its spotlight.
I need a telescope for all seems out of sight.

    The Prayer

I bared my soul within warmth of thy hot flame
needing comfort of lovingly sent relief.
Knew thy gentle spirit yet not thy true name
thy kindness came because of faithful belief.

With tenderness in grace I had rarely seen
healing angels were sent on thy sweet command.
Heavy burdens gone, soul feeling so serene
Thy light of lights caused me to soon understand.

Now in prayer, forgiven heart gives its thanks
for thy dear mercy granted this once lost soul.
Only by faith's deep love do I join thy ranks
what was once broken, thy love has now made whole.

May thy mercy sweep through this dark, barren land.
Thy saving grace rain down, much as we can stand.

If Dancing Barefoot, Watch For Broken Glass

Shot straight arrow into a crooked sky
to find if it washed upon me black rain.
Strange that Fate decreed then, I would not die
at least not until later, not in vain.

Time flew into shadows upon dead plains
my quiver empty, my heart cut to shreds.
We all have our secrets and some dark stains
while others sleep with ghosts in bloody beds.

Times of despair, hard choices must be made
if dancing barefoot, watch for broken glass.
Beware for heavy dues, they must be paid
there is no hidden splendor in the grass.

My bow now silent and cracked due to age.
All shot out- words sent from wizened old sage.

O' Broken Heart, Tis Now Thy Time To Mend

Decades past, when free love was all the rage
we were not told, bait for the golden cage.
In our race to grab wild hearts from the skies
we ate the sweet dessert and believed the lies.

O' lasting regret, where does thy pain dwell
when my body sleeps, my soul is in hell.
Years ago, my pride led me so far astray
now these later years cause me to kneel to pray.

O' broken heart, tis now thy time to mend
life is not over, time can be thy friend.
Sing again, love can return with its sweet glee
soft kisses, her loving hands can set me free.

Future promise, grace me with clear new skies
send no more tears to flood with my saddened cries.

    Both Willing Victims Of Romance

Shall we dance this romantic dance?
With moonlight beaming on thy hair
Was it fate or just by pure chance,
    We both found ourselves there?

    Both willing victims of romance.

I shall not lose thee this sweet night
When this moment sent me reeling
Why does thou shine so very bright,
    Thy glow radiates love feelings?

Thou art my first heavenly sight.

Can we find that lost paradise?
Open treasure chest with no key.
For thee I will pay any price,
Begging thy love forth on my knees.

    Thy charms, ardor does entice.

Shall we dance this romantic dance?
With moonlight beaming on thy hair
Was it fate or just by pure chance,
    We both found ourselves there?

    Both willing victims of romance.

Temptation Itches On All Living Things

Temptation itches on all living things
often nobody knows just how it stings,
not the icky-glues in its sticky pastes
nor the rotten fruits in its wasted wastes.

She the vixen nobody could resist
her vanishing pleasures - elusive mists,
long legs descend from heavenly skies
later, such dark pains in lamented cries.

Victim once thought to be heavenly bound
    lost, voiceless, no understandable sound,
finds temptress, sexy wares designed to win
she that siren alluring to all men.

You scratch that itch, risking your own peril,
finding wounds that can never be sterile!

    The Warrior In My Blood

What has happened to the warrior in my blood
when did he vanish into this red clay mud?
O' the pains I've taken to keep in me the fight
and whiskey given up, to keep my sharp eyesight.

What has happened to the power in this man
when he feels tired and hopes for no stand
O' the heartache that cuts so damn deep
and the tears splattering, when I now weep.

What has happened to fierce fight in my soul
when sleeping late is now my cherished goal
O' the misery in finding my courage gone
and the depths in feeling, so damn alone.

What has happened to young spirit I once had
and to raw anger that once made me so bad?

Folks, I truly do not know if is better for me to be this weak in my happiness.
Sometimes I dream of needing that extra power for a great future battle and its not there! And can no longer be summoned!

Summer Nights With A Stone-Cold Fox

Cool summer night in nineteen seventy-three.
She became a goddess to a boy like me.
Her long golden locks, hair begging -Please touch!
Bite this apple baby, never get too much!

Sexy dream that walked in skin tight blue-jeans.
Had to have her and that meant by any means.
Curves galore, no markings on that pretty box!
She was the hottest, a brand new, stone-cold fox!

Her shortest shorts, tighter than bark on a tree.
Seventies chick, prettiest fish in the sea.
With the night birds we sang our deepest tunes!
Air was fire-hot, night sky had two full moons!

    Walked away,tidal waves crashing ashore
LEFT BEHIND A BAD BOY, STILL BEGGING FOR MORE!

    Dark Spells

As a clock running in black circles down
Distant stars lighting reddish fairy gowns,
Earthen pastures in darkness all aglow,
Awaiting dawn's eager cock to thrice crow.

Two wagging tails on huge fantastic birds
flying with dust stirring African herds,
For life in wailing pain must thus this bring,
curses spun from magical, hellish ring.

Night-winds ill blowing with green, nasty stench
    coming calamity, sure-fire cinch,
Time and Fate conspire with evil blood-lusts
removing hope and adding deep the rusts.

Dragon pair emerging to life consume.
Old hag weaving spells on wicked loom.

Youth Cries Out, We Can Rest When We Are Long Dead

Out of fleeting shadows, words creep within
Out of deep, lonesome blue-nights aches appear
Youth chase gaily after pleasures and sins
When "forever weather" ahead looks clear.

No visions of future hurts fly into view
No visions of pains that strip bare the heart
Forever away, those payments come due
Youth knowing, knows its footloose dance is smart.

Where crimson dreams, spring up rainbow splashed lakes
Where crimson dreams, color life with purest joy
Youth fevers, too hot to ever dare forsake
Youth fevers, that always seem to annoy.

Great and dear mysteries lay in wait ahead
Youth cries out, we can rest when we are long dead!

I SHOULD KNOW THE TRUTH OF THAT.
For I lived it for 16 long, wild and fast paced years--18 to 34...
In those 16 years, I lived at least 80 years worth.
For from age 18, I lived as if I'd never make age 30...
A true miracle that I ever did that and 32+ more years, so far.. -- --Tyr

Your Gold Hair Hung Just Right On Your Shoulders

You enticed bright moonlight to shine brighter
upon your bare shoulders beaming so white.
I dreamed of love and held you much tighter
memory forever held in my sight.

Your gold hair hung just right on your shoulders
soft twinkles graced deeply your blue, blue eyes.
My racing heart screamed, " you be much bolder"
you have enough help from summer skies!

You felt my quickened and hotter breathing
with gentle touch you said, its alright.
This day, Fate decided you are leaving
I fight back welling tears with all my might.

Your passing, sent my lost world down crashing.
Our love, our time, my heart keeps rehashing.

Note- Sonnet bug bit me, so I cranked one out before hitting the hay tonight.
Had I refused, I would have woke up around 2 A.M. with my Muse cursing me endlessly until I got up to do this task.

Great Charm In Her Cool Southern Grace

All is blessed wonder, sweet time to me
    tall trees waving in Southern summer wind;
there rests happy, where bare feet met cool sea
true love and hope's heart just around the bend!

My gentle darling back in Atlanta
    with gold braids in her shining jet-black hair;
she was there drinking cold, orange Fanta
and slyly gave me that, "come to me stare"!

Sea waves sang out and my toes felt the surge
    HOT SAND TOLD ME TO RACE BACK TO THE SHADE;
where her red lips gave me that kissing urge
memory found sweet, love she always made!

There was great charm in her cool Southern grace
fire in her eyes, set her pretty face!

O' Dear Poets, Let True Pens Dance

O' dear poets, hold sweet and true to thy calls
Let not rejection's dark, lead hearts astray
Not into realms of drought stricken pitfalls
Nor in shallow vessels of weakened clay!

Stay dear poets, with kindness sent this sad world
Keen unto love, hope and mercy's great gifts
Pen to let magnificent words be hurled
In soul's fine music that cheers and uplifts!

O' dear poets, grace us with joyful heart's glee
Dance below moon's gleam cast lights thus given
For these gifts setting us apart and free
Bring us to gates of paradise liven'!

O' dear poets, buckle belts, greet all as friend
We are waves splashing hope until the end!
