Old Sailor's Heartfelt Plea To Lost Love

Thou hast torn fine sails from anchored ship's mast
In harbor previously thought true safe.
Thy sudden change has left my heart aghast
now thy poison arrows, this body strafe.

With thy dark, longbow and its hard flung hits
thee hast sent this soul to hellish, black pits.
Nay! Thy dread-wrath could not be any worse!
Found not, the answer to thy evil curse!

With thy words, black skies crushed sweet life from me
I beseech, thy raging heart to repent.
Join again! Set sail to gentle blue sea
Find thou, that mercy can truly be sent!

If thou can yet, grasp love now forgotten.
Find thee, hateful curse sent ill begotten!

    Not for contest..
This was inspired by my reading at my home poetry site, a truly superb (English) sonnet this morn!
The artist, caused me to strive to better in my writings.
I pray that this humble effort has proven to be a fruitful attempt at that goal...
Know this, a great many poets there have me truly amazed at their talent, inspiration kind souls, and giving hearts...

How In This Racing World Life Balances Out

How in this racing world life balances out
Lose love, seek thee sincere, find another.
World sends hell on thee, watch it turn about
Feel alone, hug thy sister or brother!

If rains beats hard upon thy weathered brow
wait, another day bright sun will reward
Fence storm damaged, lost is thy lone milk cow
read solace words from thy favorite bard!

When home is too crowded and far too loud
yard is overgrown and thy best axe broke.
Wait future days, when those kids make you proud
YOUR TEARS FLOW AND YOUR CRACKING VOICE WILL CHOKE!

So friend, in the end it all balances out
Hold tight loved family, sing with a shout!

Note- Got the urge to compose one more sonnet today.

A Southern Man Proud And True

There was truest Southern red-blood in his veins
Left this world with its darkness, dirty stains
A Southern man, born ready, bred to fight
Hard at work by day yet tender at night
In old age he found few needs for amends
Those he made were to family and friends

A lover of hope and sweet Southern dawns
Loved Nature and sight of new speckled fawns
Biggest heart ever, worn on his long sleeve
Lover of life, restarts each New Year's eve
Once healed of daggers, plunged to the hilt
Having known dark and hate he had some guilt

Never claimed perfect by any degree
Standing tall, proud, handsome and boldly free

Note- After having recently been made aware of the death of my close friend, I began contemplating life and its brevity.
I saw the greatest tragedy in my life, when at age 15 years old, I witnessed my father dying from cancer(he was 68 and died on morning of his birthday).
So I wrote this poem this morn, about my father and with my deceased friend in mind as my friend was himself, Southern born and bred.-Tyr

    The underlined especially fascinated me.

    Sorry, Tyr.

Sometimes sadness and tragedy leads to very good writing. It has a way of changing how one thinks and looks at things, and of course drawing out emotions and memories. I wish I could write like you sometimes.

Unfortunately this is the Nature of our life. It is very difficult to be through it, but this is a Life. The real, unbearable grief is when you bury your own children. God forbid anyone to experience it.

I am very happy that I have a chance to speak with you and some others from this board. It is a great help for me to understand nowadays Americans, in addition to my personal experience when I worked in your country and came across and got acquainted with many Americans of that time.

If Thee Would But Remember Me, Remember Me

If Thee Would But Remember Me, Remember Me

Remember me to your children and newfound friends
moments of hope hold my imaginary hand.
We were raving dancers breaking out with new trends
our romantic death I could never understand.
If my loss, caused you to make much needed amends
Remember me to your children and newfound friends.

In shadows that gather upon that high plateau
moments you feel dawn's soft breeze that reminds of me
We were singers in life's grandest parade, we two
bare footed, fantastic lovers and so care free
If my loss, caused you to make much needed amends
Remember me to your children and newfound friends.

Remember me, remember as deep, cool night winds
Remember me to your children and newfound friends

As Did Our Beautiful, Dearest Mothers

Life should not be about hiding from storms
far better, learn to dance in pouring rains.
For your feet moving has its happy charms
which embraced may remove your blue-felt pains.

When future dark winds arrive to ill blow
set hardened hands to withstand the results.
If winter's beauty brings too heavy snow
SUCH MAY HIT LIKE STONES TOSSED FROM CATAPULTS!

Life should be more about honest living
time spent sharing love and song with others.
For this one must set true heart to giving
as did our beautiful, dearest mothers!

In this life, if blessed we get to choose
do so with blind hearts, you too often lose!

I Write As Of Old, On Paper In Ink

After reading poems, I get started
I write as of old, on paper in ink.
Hours pass, before pen and I are parted
olden ways used, give greater depths to think!

After reading fine verse, this heart then speaks
on things that just may give, some sweet relief.
Wheel sooner gets its oil, louder it squeaks
scribe true and often, is my firm belief.

After writing poems, soul finds comfort
in strangest way, very hard to describe.
Tis sweet pleasure, giving my best effort
gift is in your reading, no need to bribe!

New poems read, both happy and some sad
caused this poem, be it good or it bad.

What In Life, Can We Truly Ever Hold

What of life, brings us such great thrilling calls
Weeks dancing about, floating on cloud nine
Remember as children huge red beach balls
And ice cream eating, strawberry was fine!

Why does time, take away more than it gives
Starting with loved family and dear pets
Could it be, that life devours as it lives
And we wrongly try to cover all bets!

Remember when jukebox songs cost a dime
Double header movies just fifty cents
Back when we had more joy and far less crime
Time was plentiful, so easily spent!

What in life, can we truly ever hold
Other than memories when we grow old!

A Sonnet On Pompous Poet Critics

When evil green-eyed monster sights you in
you may suddenly find, having less friends.
Sure, only just another day's slow pace
No, some jerks hit, but never face to face.

Let a poet, in truthful words speak out,
wicked stabs come silent, with not a shout.
Curse cold snobbery of pompous elite
walking on four rather than on two feet.

I will speak bold truth in poetic words
their edicts, just more garbage for the birds
In my anger I write about those fools
truth is, they are just shallow, witless tools!

When evil green-eyed monster, sinks its teeth
Walk the high road, not the dark one beneath.

    Note-
Arrogance and jealous ego go hand in hand.
Never seen greater than in certain poets, that dare to set terms , demand adoration that others must follow-or else they plot and stab from hidden places.
Never considering the truth, depth and quality of the poems of poets they target..
This sorry treatment, some few have done to a very dear friend of mine, a poetess that writes magnificently!
I beg her to give me their names but she refuses to do so- not wanting me to get harmed because of her troubles.
Sorry little shallow people in their fantasy filled, self-aggrandized world.-Tyr

Yet Walk Thee, Into Dawn's Sweet Renewing Rays

Once lost, what hell else better have you got?
Two broken feet, treading on molded rot
Nay! Cry thee not for some whimsical muse
More the worst for darker world to abuse!

Set thee, hardest task of destroying thrones
Slicing thy bread, rest not thy weary bones
Take rare days, to thy colder heart amuse
Let not Fate's handmaidens force thee to choose!

Once lost, what hell else better have you got?
Than skin and teeth, sad memories to trot
Best thee, look for better weapons to use
When life seeks only early death to use!

Yet walk thee, into dawn's sweet renewing rays
Faith in saving face of Hope, always pays!

Note: Struggled today to not write, but my muse cut for blood, until the pain demanded an answer.
Tis not as bad as it may sound, as healing forces me to walk away from the new darkness that my weaker soul seeks to accustom itself...
Thus the birth of this dark and somber sonnet....
