Her Beauty Glimmered Before Meadow Flowers Died

Her beauty glimmered before meadow flowers died
I saw her, night her golden tears fell as she cried
Blossoms fell to grace ravenously her bare feet
With her by his side, no man could know sad defeat

Only time could lessen her magnificent glow
Her touch equal to all Spring's bounty could sow
Golden relief sprung up from her beautiful gaze
She the treasure only a true angel could raise

Now lost memories attempt to dim her soft kiss
Her gentle laugh my sad soul shall forever miss
Why we parted, tis now within a dark black haze
My sad-dreams now lose her in midnight's deepest maze

Her beauty glimmered before meadow flowers died
I saw her, night her golden tears fell as she cried

As Ye Seek, So Shall Poetry Send In Measure

Alas! Set aside not poetry and its worth,
With lower thoughts and wickedest gleam in thine eyes
Look thee to great clowns and court jesters for thy mirth
And moonlit serenades, from majestic skies!

Where truest Poetry sends, joy to thy seeking mind,
Let deeper knowledge walk with thee in faithful tune
Allow not great ignorance to thy soul thus bind
Thy heart to shallow words, as if they are great boon!

Rejoice! If thy soul finds poetry a fine gift
For thy true, searching heart will seek out all the more
Its most treasured words presented to thee to uplift
Enter thy spirit through poetry's golden door!

Alas! Abandon not poems and their treasure
As ye seek, so shall poetry send in measure!

Claiming Fate, Dark Fate Gifts, His Sad Afflictions

They forced him, build sandcastles on barren beaches
They were his addictions, those beautiful leeches
Saw his false shadows, like hell he resented it
Ripped his true heart each damn time he presented it
Fat with soul-wrecking love, they bleached his weary bones
Nights he was weak, begging please, for their dark tones
Each new dawn, he swore oaths to send them far away
And backed down, when angry echoes came back to play
When he fought back, razor teeth ate into his brain
Until his aching soul, broke from their blackest strain
They clung to him like sweat on a hot, hot June day
Even if he tried, he could not send them away
Giving up, he surrendered to drug addictions
Claiming Fate, dark Fate gifts, his sad afflictions

    Old Note- Deleted.

New Note. Written shortly after a good friend drove his car into a tree, dying that night.
We never knew for sure but they said he did it on purpose. I saw him the week before at a wild party.
He asked me, would I come to his funeral if he died. I laughed and said, " sure I would, to tell you to pay me that 60 bucks you owe me .....
One just never knows, the depth of pain some are in....

Leave This Sad Heart, I Can Take No More Pain

Vastness of blue skies, called forth depths of this soul
Past times, sad cries, images engraved into my mind
O' misery, emitting from that huge black hole
Life tis now pitting, dear joy against heart now blind.

Blinded by memories, thoughts in darkest sad blues
Tragic shock to now find, false tales in my gold
Should have known should have seen the sad, terrible clues
A damn wicked thing, to only see when too old.

There once was glory, in those past radiant dreams
There twas magic, in those loves that went so damn wrong
Ah, but Fate and Love both do so wickedly scheme
Far more than enough to break this spirit so strong.

Alas! That truth that I honored and cherished so.
Now rages with desires to destroy my last goal!

    Robert Lindley,
    Nov, 19th, 1991

Old Note: I may survive this but its gonna leave one damn big scar.

New Note: I see and feel that scar every damn day. Time to bring this out of my private writes and perhaps cleanse it to get relief. Never think, that I have not endured the deepest depths of epic pain.....

When Mother Nature Heals A Broken Soul

Walk in Nature, to give it a visit
stroll its epic beauty, maybe kiss it
Touch ancient trees, rest in coolest shades
purge my saddened heart with deep forest raids

Don't tell my blue-shadow for it would cry
thinking it had failed not knowing the why
Pretending each path, journey into dreams
fleeing fish swimming in clearest of streams

As sun shines, see glory's majestic hues
find over again, those welcoming clues
Sing out loud, Mother Nature please, please bring
soft, joyous views to destroy heartache's sting

Sit in palaces of fallen red oak leaves
Heal this, my aching soul, as it slow grieves.

Hold This Saving Knowledge Close To Thy Breast

Thy solace lies in finding love's treasures
Gifts far greater than pleasures in greed's lust
If found such gleaming pearls do not measure
For such eager desires show lack of trust
Hold thy heart, in white clouds fast streaming by
With wisdom gained, thy path may thus unfold
In vapor trails gracing dawn's newborn sky
Into paradise where Love is not sold

Walk thee, in sacred halls where Love 's truth sought
With thy renewed soul and glad, lightened heart
Be thee given, if only faith was brought
Paradise there, tis not on any chart

Hold this saving knowledge close to thy breast
Embrace faith and love, God will do the rest

When A Very Angry Muse Dares To Speak

So you compose and think to fill my shoes
Your feeble dream, you think yourself my muse
Sad, as a writer you seek without clues
Tis, I your muse paying the heavy dues!

When you beautiful wife gives you great praise
You embrace it in a false, shallow craze
Without my help you'd be lost in a maze
Abandon now, this your false glory phase.

These words your poetic hand now scribes
Clearly sent forth by way of my great vibes
I hold only membership in Muse tribe
As Caissa rejects your pitiful bribes!

I, your ruling muse, now tell you to cease.
Holding glory for words from my release!

Awaiting But The Echoes Of Our Calls

Shall I race into paradise, my dreams
Breeze into another world of thy love
O' that it was as easy as it seems
When prayers are answered from heaven above

There my dear, shall I call out thy sweet name
    Await radiance of thy arrival
I fear, my darling, would not be the same
For truth in our love is its survival

Thus I will find another way to thee
Tho' it may cost me my life and my all
In that serenity rests Love's true tree
Awaiting but the echoes of our call

Shall I race into paradise, my dreams
O' that it was as easy as it seems

After reading again the contest requirements, I had to drastically edit the original poem.
This is only the 4th time in a bit over four years that I have done so- as usually , I just post my poem -ignoring the contest.
However, I am good friends with the sponsor , having collaborated with her a couple times- thus want to enter her contest--since is required--no author's name be on the poem that is entered !

Here is the poem now entered. And trust me on this , the contest requirements met caused it to be less in quality over that of the original poem first presented, IMHO.--Tyr

The Deepest Depths Of Epic Pain

The scars of life unveil the weight of lies,
lest it be the torment of moral sin,
wherein the guiltless suffer wounds and cries
of love’s deceit as heartless notions win.

The evil whims of wicked fancy shows
no mercy for those crossed by hands of fate
when magic dreams are cast by darkened clouds
which turns the morbid sorrow into hate.

In rage of fervor, passions zeal is lost,
oft destroyed by life's dire tribulations,
as sunning rays vacates dawn's gleaming frost
    human frailties blind truth's revelations.

Within hope destroyed and life's darkest stain
remains the deepest depths of epic pain.

For They Had Deep Faith And True Loving Hearts

Snow was seven feet deep, it was still falling
Life was brutal and crying for frozen feet
Grandfather heard echoes miles away calling
He starving alone, nothing at all to eat

Settler's cabin ahead was his saving grace
For he knew in faith, they had good Christian souls
With faith filled love for those of his redskin race
True mercy, helping others their cherished goals

With no memory of how he had made it
His failing legs got him to that cabin door
Through snowdrifts, not knowing how he had made it
A miracle, he had prayed for nothing more

    Suddenly, safe inside, cheerfully greeted
With warm food and their sincere prayers repeated

Note: True story, as we were told by our Indian grandfather and our mother.

A brief narrative written in short, sonnet form, telling of how my Indian grandfather, Julius Parks, was once saved from freezing to death in a brutally cold and massive winter storm, by a Christian family living deep in the woods..
He would finish the story by telling us, kids those people are in HEAVEN RIGHT NOW.
FOR THEY HAD DEEP FAITH AND TRUE LOVING HEARTS!!!!

Oh How Bright Your Eyes Did Shine
(by Michael P Clarke and Robert J. Lindley)

Oh How Bright Your Eyes Did Shine that morning,
I held you so close and the world was mine,
we shared our love as the day was dawning,
I drank from your goblet, our love divine.

Sunlit echoes played to our beating hearts,
precious, very precious our love-held Time.
We had it all and all that bliss imparts,
our days and nights joyous, dreams so sublime.

Our song it was sung our hearts love displayed,
love was our journey a heaven divine,
now in our hearts memories we replay,
Love in our summer that ever did shine.

May forever, dawns wake us together.
In true depths of love, bid us fair weather.

Michael P Clarke and Robert J. Lindley collaboration.

Truly was an honor and great pleasure to collaborate with my very talented friend, Micheal P. Clark on this sonnet..
Such inspiring verses Michael presented for me to write to ..
    Any time my friend...

Transition From Deep Dark To Brightest Light
    (Chained Sonnet--100 words)

Within dreams sent into this world of shades
shades full of heartaches and long slashing blades
blades severing sleeping rest on soft nights
nights of diminished hope and sharpest pains.
Pains of death at this sad door now knocking
knocking that promise evil in the flesh
flesh burnt hot, flayed back exposing raw nerves
nerves once made of black iron and hard steel.
Steel born of ancient warrior's deepest pride
pride in truth, honoring family name
name reminding one of future promise
promise of blessings and rewarded fame.
    Fame's generosity and greater love
Love pure, in serving only God above

Where Hard Rocky Crags Meet White Foamy Sea

Where hard rocky crags meet white foamy sea
rip-roaring splashes, sing softly to me.
Under starlit heavens, big yellow moon
Our fleeting lives vanish far, far too soon!

Where waiting sands absorb bold, mighty waves
further out lay, lost ships and lone sea graves.
Yet sadness can not diminish this view
Or hide the spot where I proposed to you!

I see again, star glow in your bright eyes
and hear that quick yes and your happy cries.
My darling, in this, our sweet tale lays bound
unbreakable vows, true love we both found!

Where hard rocky crags meet white foamy sea
rip-roaring splashes, remind me of thee!

With Beauty Greater Than A Peacock's Preen

Of all the great new dawns, Spring gifts the best
With sunbeams racing to glisten new green.
In all of Nature, she survives each test
With beauty greater than a peacock's preen.
Thy teeming wildlife, most welcomed minions
O' friend, thy gifts sing in so many ways.
With sweet Hope and Truth thy bold companions
From day's promise to final ending rays.
When new grass sings its highest gracing songs
Thy miracle, telling this world to bow.
Thy birth, taught all that all truly belongs
To the whole, future promise and the now.

Of all the great new dawns, Spring takes the cake.
Why not celebrate each, for goodness sake?

    Note--
Once, many centuries ago, it now seems.
Life begged to be nurtured and loved.
Now what treasure looking back at clear streams.
With thoughts of fantasy flying in blue skies above.
