Where Sky Begs To Touch Paradise Grounds

Sun beams down, flower blossoms open wide
Nature's artistry in its glory and pride
Where fair pools trickle forth into clear streams
Nature sings in rhythm with sun warming beams
Flows beauty, sparkled splash of rainbow trout
Listen with inner ear, hear each joyous shout
Spy above, jumping life in green-clad trees
Walk meadows wide-spread colors, with busy bees
With epic delight wade into cool brooks
To feel wade, can not be felt by reading books
Nothing measures up to Nature's splendor
Be grateful, with praise be an open sender
Where sky begs to touch paradise grounds
Nature joins the two and happily surrounds

I started this sonnet last month, finally stopped being lazy and finished it today..
Rare for me to leave sonnets unfinished and I can not remember why I left this one about half complete..
Now that it is finished, I can only hope it may bring something positive/inspirational to its readers..-Tyr

The Old Man, In Sight Of White Foaming Sea

Of its beauty the old man was quite fond
breadth and depth of that massive ancient pond
Great sea rolling with its foaming white turf
behemoths on which daring young men surf

Old man sitting on favorite low hill
gazed down at sandy beach feeling that thrill
To be young with ice waters in his veins
rather than so lost in his daily pains

Brief moment, his heart saw young love again
with carefree life, no worries about sin
O' what gambles his heart would again take
but never her true love, would he forsake

As red-sun set, one final look taken
at first love, for his wife, now forsaken

Death Taps Gently, Reminding Us Of Our Mortality

Forty years have flown by; as a brief sigh
busy years, full of hustle bustle and joy.
Yes, friends old age says end is near and nigh
I look back to my happy times as a young boy.

The magic of golden silence in wooded glens
soft whispers of clumps of swaying pines.
Blessed days spent with beloved family and friends
delicious meals, celebrated with the best wines.

Living in this land that gift wondrous scenes
watching night skies speak to heart and soul.
O'the wonders of love's mysteries explored in my teens
always lusting for that most elusive goal.

Again, great mystery begs its final call.
It is now late winter, far flung from last Fall.

When Darkness Came, We Ignored Its Powers

When red-dust turns into solid hard stone
my words and I shall be content alone.
Grieve thee not for my long sad solitude
once I danced with happy multitude.

Then my muse embraced me with dear sweet love
now I want touch of her velvet glove.
Now I find darkness, her in binding chains
drought consumes me, decades no needed rains.

When darkness came, we ignored its powers
now dying of thirst we pray for showers.
Alas! No longer does my dear muse cry
at the black and O' so foreboding sky.

Will my poetic words dare stand alone?
When this mortal flesh is long dead and gone?

Was New Dawn, He Woke Amidst Newborn Rays

Was new dawn, he woke amidst newborn rays
an old timer and deep woods were his home.
Air chilly, he kneels and quietly prays,
For Nature's gift and no more need to roam.

Rising he sees new sun, feels its new shine
drinks, sweet cool water from clear flowing stream.
In joy, he wonders why life is so fine
as to bless his soul with this treasured dream.

To walk and talk in Nature's paradise
his furry friends scampering all about.
Song birds flew to eat his first, wild grown rice
each new color and sound a joyful shout.

Night came, slowly taking its welcomed place,
at peace he slept with broad smile on his face.

Ok, had to try to saddle up to write..
Easiest for me would be the sonnet form(my favorite) on my favorite subject the deep woods, Nature and mankind's relationship with its beauty and divinely given gifts..
My muse still fled, was nowhere to be found. I trudged into this alone.
Once done, I saw that my own words (as oft happens) needed not her advice or censor!- -Tyr

In Land of the Blind, Children Are Taught Hate

In Land of the Blind, song-birds are muted,
trees are small, thorny and never fruited.
Hate and indifference race hand in hand,
in deep chasms in Eternal night land.

In Land of the Blind, clashing clouds ooze pain
everything smells of evil's wretched stain.
Wells are filled with filthy creatures and slime
goodness is sweet victory in hate crimes.

In Land of the Blind, children are taught Hate
vengeance the law, decreed by wicked Fate.
Ground is broken glass to cut out all love
no saving grace allowed from God Above.

In Land of the Blind, all are sad, lost souls,
envy and rabid hate are daily goals.

Note- Land of the Blind, term is based upon hatred being blind, in no way connected to those truly blind due to lack of eyesight. Tis a sad and dark mental condition not a physical one...
As a child, my dog was deliberately ran over by a guy that was consumed with such epic and fierce hatred of dogs(later he did this all his life--kill dogs)....
Recently I found out that he died about 15 year ago--lonely without a friend in this world and racked with pain due to a lengthy malignant illness.

Now As Midnight Strikes Its Late Sounding Note

Yet again, this aching lost soul cries out
down in dark valleys of vengeful despair.
No longer does spirit roar and joy shout
since Fate decided we are not a pair.

Oceans no longer send forth gentle waves
or dare provide their epic scenic views.
My love, we are lost in sad living graves
deprived of our romantic right to choose.

Now as midnight strikes its late sounding note
my heart feels lonely by its slashing knives.
Passionately kiss last letter you wrote
and pray for love's renewal in our lives.

Far off, upon paradise's sweetest shore
I see us, happily walking once more.

When All Hope And Relief Seems Gone

Today my sad spirit rides long dark rails
as massive storms lash and churn great blue seas
Lost in deepest of blues, Hope's sweet hand fails
as I crash on broken and jagged trees.

Far beneath a once great and mighty perch
as Achille's fate approaches my life
I recall divine words from father's church
"seek thee, love in our dear Lord, during strife"!

I crawl in forests dark, wickedly deep
smell of evil, death and destruction burns
I cry for safety and warm place to sleep
relief from broken heart's many returns.

Where hides Light's most beautiful saving rays
Dusk comes, no help for man that falls and prays!

Drink Thee, Cool Water From Hope's Bright, Clear Streams

Hope soars so far above earth's highest peak
miracles given the strong and the weak.
Rest thy weary soul in Hope's dear reprieves
not in man's vanity that so deceives.

In Love and Mercy's realms, Hope's truth resides
maintain thee faith to make colossal strides.
Obey thy heart, hold true to thy sweet dreams
drink thee, cool water from Hope's bright, clear streams.

Look forward in that O' so brilliant Light
walk thee not in blindness of despair's night.
In heart's deep desire, rests Hope's great treasure
by deep faith, receive thy fullest measure.

With candle lit, fear not night and dark pain.
On that true path, Hope will always remain.

When Sun Burns Too Hotly And Blue Sky Melts

Our secret pond laughing and wading there
our hearts joined in Nature's beauty divine.
That we might lose our joy, gave us a scare
thought of loss, destroyed future -hers and mine.

Summer came, we forgot about that fright
for bliss was to be had with each soft kiss.
Dancing our days, romancing through each night
darling, that and so much more I so miss.

With no saving miracle, our joy lost
we in our great love soared too long, too high.
We dared too deep and paid the heavy cost
now our hearts find only sad, empty sky.

Such memories although old and faded
reveal Fate's hand can not be evaded.

Note: Great care must be taken to hold such a deep and precious treasure...
For omission brings such tragic costs.
Yet destiny may later bring greater reward if one but maintains Hope, and faith in walking a clear and just path.
For Hope and future are open to change if one reverses course from a dark path and willingly embarks upon a journey to find Light and Truth....

This sonnet the fifth of the five written on the Treasures of Hope tells of Hope lost because Hope was never grasped and held tight.
I deliberately did not use the word hope in any verse because the narrative presents its ABSENCE AND THE DIRE CONSEQUENCES OF DANCING IN MOMENTS OF BLISSFUL DARKNESS.
The six sonnet on Hope is the one I am now living with my wonderful family.
As it is Hope realized and held ever so firm..

Heaven Was Now Empty, Nothing Above

An old cobbler, with nails, soles and new shoes
Who could have guessed his deep, malignant blues?
Sign on his shop, "welcome all, come on in"
Happy to serve you and be your new friend.
With his old weathered hands and long grey hair
Voice spoke gentle but one felt sad pain there
Fire took his family, his true love
Heaven was now empty, nothing above.
Days he hammered in nails, new "soles" put on
What could he do, when his was sadly gone?
Heavy heart, he put up his clever veil
Hiding from all, his miserable hell
Why had Fate taken wife and child away
Over each new pair, cobbler cries and prays.

Note- Written about an old man my father knew well , an old cobbler that had lost his young wife and daughter in a house fire(many decades before) while he was in the hospital due to a car accident....
I still remember those sad, sad eyes. And even as a child of eight I could hear the sadness in his voice and see the veil he put up!
I was fourteen years old when my father told me about why the old cobbler was so sad and had been that way for over 43 years....
FOURTEEN YEARS OLD, MY DAD DIED THE NEXT YEAR AND I FOUND OUT WHY THE OLD COBBLER LIVED IN THE SADDEST WORLD KNOWN TO MAN..
Now I know, my father was preparing me for his own death and saying to me, that one can survive despite even the deepest sadness known to man. One must go on living.....

Sorry. I have been sick these last few days and not writing or caring about anything at all. Seems recovering from my mother's death will take a long time...
As I find myself thrown back into bouts of saddest depressions.
I wrote this poem today after a mail from one of my dearest poet finds and considering the words he said.
His, "Get thee back up and write! Get back in the saddle and leave some dust as you fly."
Show this sad world the light and let them see poetry, truth given and the why...
I drank a large cup of coffee with three good shots of whiskey in it and sat down to write this piece. Hope you may enjoy..-Tyr

Be Not Tempted By Gold's Glittering Brights

Where couldst man find rest when heart has deceived
loved ones he wouldst happily give his all,
whilst on dark paths, false laurels thus received
profits only fools under fallen walls!

Shadows presenting wicked and false lights
can oft penetrate even truest of hearts,
find only false moons on blackest of nights
sailing on festered seas with lying charts!

Hold firm sweet truth, know its blessings are fair
life is far more than wealth gotten with schemes,
its love and family with friends to share
treasures and bounty from realized dreams!

Be not tempted by gold's glittering brights.
Embracing such greed brings saddest of plights.

This Day, Greatest Losses, Blood Soaked Sands

Day to remember, honor for its gain
loss reminds us never, never again.
Neptune shook the sea, watched cannons fire
sandy beach blown apart, war's raging ire.
Courage, grit, sand, water, death and red-blood
ahead lay bloody roads and blood soaked mud.
D- Day, sacrifices where took heavy tolls
soldiers knew and thought that is how it rolls.
Beach, water and death with dark blood soaked sand
courage embraced to take back all that land.
On and on they came, rushing, dying waves
war had its feast, that feast it always craves.
Great loss, but victory is rarely free
they died to save all, all and you and me!

Weary Of Mind, Sad Fancies Loom Quite Large

Weary of mind, sad fancies loom quite large
Against innocence, many a false charge.
That not controlled often falls to wicked blades
With darkness dancing in false lit charades.

Those hearts so bruised, find no saving relief
Anguish in black-caverns of deepest grief.
Where daunting night skies rain down epic pain
Fates darkest powers nothing can restrain.

Fate and its dark destinies have such powers
Man finds such sorrow in its midnight hours.
Yet one must live, to live on and be free
Fate's weapons, far greater than you and me.

Yet even Fate yields to One great power
That gives rain and blessings both in showers.
