This Night Under Pale And Pallid New Moon

In pale moonlight I mourn for thy soft hand
for your loss, is more than I can withstand
you were my all, orchard's sweet fruited bough
alone in hollow realm, this heart weeps now.

This night under pale and pallid new moon
waiting in your favorite month of June
each gust of your gentle breeze a godsend
upon this eager face, hope never ends.

Come swiftly my love, eternity calls
from its golden depths, its most loving halls
I hear your sweet voice and beg your dear touch
no other treasure bequeaths me so much
as does this fleeting hour you and I meet
with prayer, I again fall at your feet.

Understand, Life Is Not All Sweet Bread And Roses

Yes we that write and boldly do so with deep dark
often fire our volleys, in verses bold and stark
using mythology and its heroes and beasts
hungry poets, we dare dine on fantastic feasts!

Walking through ancient castles, with deep murky moats
with courage swimming in our true poetic oats
Living dreams, splashing ink upon freer page
venting from heart, expelling vile from raging rage!

Yes, such is true, tis not for those of kinder stock
those of more timid fare, that such verses so shock
yet this poetic soul, its search, its true calling
must walk a truer path, else face its down falling!

Understand, life is not all sweet bread and roses
Should we ink it, only as honey-dip posies?

I Went Out Into The Naked City

I went out into the naked city
to watch splattering and pouring wet rain
times in life things are a damn sad pity
when epic loss runs hard against the grain.

I danced in the lonesome low moonlight
with nerves frayed deep into these broken bones
beneath heaven's glory, rushed soft starlight
as Time echoed its lost sadden tones.

I drank darkness, to birth new falling stars
for new love was hiding deep within me
refugee from hurt's fleeing bitter scars
with hope and heart both begging to be free.

I found new beginnings, in that sweet roar
Love swore to find me, through that open door!

Seeking Honor And Rectitude In This Dark World

When pen was, a mighty razor-sharp blade
pulled from scabbard, made from bright-red blood
legion were deep cuts, its slashes once made
to separate true Life, from Earthen crude.

If these veins could again birth sweeter ink
no longer stain virgin paper with dread
soul renew, not further into dark sink
in caverns reserved for walking dead!

No longer can sorrows drive praying heart
nor grasp fortitude to seek hope's dreams
Life held, when poetry played its part
winning battles over mere mortal schemes.

Alas! Pen now finds its ink hard frozen
Death of poet's spirit Fate has chosen!

Eggs He Ate Thinking, Life Is Just Not Fair

When high noon rays waken a sleeping man
window's glare never thought into his plan
just another problem in a broken life
blends with misery since he lost his wife.

With angry scowl, rises to pull the shade
thinking damn that bright sun that God hath made
then stomach cries feed me you lazy bum
be quick about it, do not act so dumb.

Into kitchen, dirty dishes and all
once it was spotless, before Love's great fall
there by the table lay her wedding ring
bitter broken memory, great the sting.

Yet noonday sun, its rays having no care
Eggs he ate thinking, Life is just not fair.

    R.J. Lindley, 7-08- 1976
Sonnet, ( Divorce, Waking To Its Sad Aftermath )

    Old Note: Deleted...

    New Note:
Decades flown on by, memory that still haunts,
midnight echoes into noonday sun, sadly and badly
still this soul, cry out hello, just to hiss and taunt...

As Those Western Blue Skies Up And Roared

Cowboy rode his horse, gentle on the reins
crossing hot prairie, while in lonesome pains
yet rainbow song played in beating heart
for soon he and his love, would never part.

She a beauty with only eyes for he
with an eager love larger than a sea
her gentle touch, her lips gave sweet treasure
she gave hope, in an unequal measure.

From hill crest he soon saw her standing there
in her radiant glow, nothing more fair
spurring faithful mount, to her arms he went
to ravenous angel heaven surely sent!

As those western blue skies up and roared
Cowboy knew Love, he had truly scored!

I guess I've watched a thousand cowboy shows in my log life, but this dream seemed so real.
Delayed writing this but somehow it forced me to sit down and compose, as the pressure to compose just became truly immense.

As Low Midnight Sounds Into Sad Soul Seep

When aching heart pleads deep for break of day
As low midnight sounds into sad soul seep
Lonesome the solitude that has its way
When stabbing sorrows deny peaceful sleep.

Wind outside blows in, gusts of prancing pain
A cold that births chills of darkened dread
Echoes of her kiss, memories remain
As dead dreams float above her empty bed.

Great hard blows hit with chiming of the clock
As visions parade before teary eyes
Head pounds like a sledge hammer breaking rock
When recalling her vows and well spun lies.

Wind outside blows in, gusts of prancing pain.
Echoes of her kiss, memories remain.

In Dreams, She Saw Love's True Faith As Her Goal

With her heart sad she wept, her tears fell deep
his love was bad, his vows he did not keep,
each new morn, she found her bed held no prize
he had crept off, left her with his dark lies

She found her wealth, his heart it did so stir
more so than her charms, he was a true cur,
with words he said, my true love, I love you
as she heard, her heart knew it was not true.

Yet love had ate its sweet bread and its fill
she would fall for his charms and his old spill,
her pals would say, tis true, he is no good
kick him to the curb, you know that you should.

In dreams, she saw love's true faith as her goal.
Yet his dark lies, in the end, took their toll.

I wrote this expressly for this new sonnet new contest.
I thought in a great idea to do the 140 on 140 theme.
A bit tricky using only one syllable words but was able to slam
one on out that was good enough to enter the contest with.-Tyr

As You Have Your Cup Of Joe, Each New Morn

As you have your cup of Joe, each new morn
Think of Life as dawn in glory is born
See those gleaming rays sun cast in its glow
For this world does daily its splendor show.

If you want more try to hear birds singing
For Mother Nature her gift is bringing
Greater joy and beauty that pleases man
As was its call and in God's divine plan.

As day flows forth with its many treasures
Consider Love's gifts, its deepest pleasures
Under soft moon and with her heart so true
Give thanks for sweet kisses as they accrue.

As you have your cup of Joe, each new morn.
Think of Life as dawn in glory is born.

Set I This Poetry Task, This Fine Morn

Set I, task to write about this cruel world's starkness
not so easy, for its true depths are wide and massive
Yet we, view evil world with light cast into the darkness
of poverty, starvation, and reactions far too passive!

SET I, TIME TO BEND MY PEN TO THIS IMPORTANT TASK
lay out a few words of love's enlightened hope
For to learn, to heal, we must first see to dare to ask
why this darkness invades, into every horoscope!

I found, Truth and Love to be the two golden keys
REALITY PROVES ONE MUST EXIST WITH THE OTHER
We may be lost fish swimming in storming black seas
yet always, we may look back to find the Love of Mother!

Set I, clear goal to write a few words as a gift to all
before my waiting soul, hears its final greatest call!

At A Crossroads Poet, Hears That True Call,
(dedicated, to my friend with appreciation)

At a crossroads, poet finds waiting pen
beneath dust that hides wiles of evil men
ink then cast forth on an eager blank page
from heartfelt and pure soul of wizened sage.

At a crossroads truths, one can not deny
nor neglect reigning beauty of night skies
as stars twinkle and moonlight bright parades
through wafting breeze and all Nature hath made.

At a crossroads poet, hears that true call
music that inflames passions in us all
for such inspires deep love and gifted hands
with verse from far above, our earthly lands.

At a crossroads, where sincere life one lives.
Soul rests free within, writes sweet words to give.

Snow White Ground, As She Paid Her Last Respects

Fallen tombstone, snow covered in soft white
sleeping guest, in heavy slumber - no light
once a star, across heavens he did fly
now a memory, with her asking why.

A rascal, a sailor, girl in each port
heart an impregnable shield, a steel fort
sweet honey were those words, love falsely cast
fantasy spun, his death left her aghast.

Alone she had walk to that silent grave
    contemplating promises he had made
limping as she went away, foot so sore
thinking, in dark he rests, he lies no more.

Nobody saw her spinning roundhouse blow.
As down went tombstone, into soft white snow!

Sonnet, ( When One Just Feels A Swift Kick Is Needed )

Note: This was originally written in 1979, as a 24 verse poem.
My muse talked me into editing it down and morphing it into a sonnet.
Yes, folks-- On rare instances, I actually listen to her......
She made a great point-- about "vengeance is best when served cold."
And now after this short, gratifying break, I will return to composing
for my renewed - Poets Tribute Series.
Up next, second poet, Edgar Allen Poe...

Those Rosy Red Lips That Stir These Loins

My sweet lover, let thy long hair glow bright,
upon memories of love and our first night,
as the aura of this morn's gleaming sun,
gifts us a love, that can not be undone.

My sweet lover, beg I passionate kiss,
when sleeping, your soft touch I do so miss,
those rosy red lips that stir these loins,
until dawn's waking, we this world rejoin.

My sweet lover, lets rise to meet this day,
face this world, and in romance thus stay,
together shower in our immense love,
floating on air, upon white clouds above.

My sweet lover, let thy long hair glow bright.
Upon memories of love, our first night.

From back in the day a wild young hell-raiser, often wrote poetry at 2 or 3 am.

perhaps even a bit better poetry when drunk on whiskey/vodka.. -Tyr

Let Truth Burn Away Your Deceptive Cloak, Sonnet Doubles
    Sonnet Doubles:

    First sonnet

Let Truth Burn Away Your Deceptive Cloak

Let truth burn away your deceptive cloak
lower vanity's shield, go have a smoke,
even if, a diamond, in love's gold crown
life shows greater rise, after falling down!

    In vanity's false, self-proclaimed state
live many victims of their own dark hate,
darkness, its power holds so many keys
to locks and chains, stopping those who would flee!

Look inward to devilish chains of hate
beg mercy and tempt not, a darker fate,
seek the moment, to let kindness prevail
cross joyous oceans under, pure white sails!

Black cloud that holds, your happy life at bay
Is but selfish sin, you have given sway!

    2nd sonnet

When Night Comes, Be Not Afraid Of Its Dark

When dawn sends rays of hope into your life
allow its golden glow, to wipe away strife
rise to give deep thanks and bow head to pray
seize its power to keep dark world at bay!

When new day, brings a stormy afternoon
believe brighter times will be coming soon
hitch your horse to wagon and give free reign
to trod to heart's true desire and remain!

When night comes, be not afraid of its dark
although new scenes may be scarily stark
have faith that again com'eth morn's first rays
blessings sent to all who sincerely prays!

Fear apathy that oft birth newfound woes
And world's black lies that cry-- anything goes!

Romanticism, (Rhyme, ( Alas! Horror Of A Love, Youthful Folly Destroyed )
Thus this first poem and another were born that day-from those four inspired verses. Thank you Nina for giving me permission to cite your blog and my first stanza verses it inspired that day, as the inspired source!
Written for the Alexander Pushkin tribute but was lost to me until reminded. I then searched and found it today.God bless...

Thank I, That Purity Of Heart's Deepest Romantic Trills
(Inspired by verses that came to me, inspired by Nina's blog)

Her soliciting eyes, gift promises of hot flaming Love.
As ruby red, sensual lips offer honey from above
She golden, romantic goddess born of heavenly skies
Presents beauty, fantastic ardor that we mortals so prize!

Within passion's might and its majestic resplendent glows.
Cries sweet birth of truest poetry's beauty, that Love shows.

Thank I, that purity of heart's deepest romantic trills
Echoes vibrations that seek to stir our Love that over-spills
Into longings, honey dreams set on tables of bright fruits
As richest feasts, that our mortal desires so deeply suits!

Within passion's might and its majestic resplendent glows.
Cries sweet birth of truest poetry's beauty, that Love shows.

Relive I, songs in night trysts that her kisses did inspire
Delirious and eager burns of her sexual fires
Where we woke to dawn's brilliant and enchanting golden rays
And with united hearts, bowed our grateful heads to pray!

Within passion's might and its majestic resplendent glows.
Cries sweet birth of truest poetry's beauty, that Love shows.

Years have so swiftly flown by, now poetic heart recalls
Yesterdays of Love, its treasures in its great golden halls
Such grandeur, truest of grace in her passionate embrace
Brought eternal longings such as no power can erase!

Within passion's might and its majestic resplendent glows.
Cries sweet birth of truest poetry's beauty, that Love shows.

Words Carried By Art-winds That Poetry Blows

When in a dying poet's last born gasp,
brilliant new verse his sad soul thus sings.
In its truth, those rewarded may this grasp
beauty is its renewed birth, each Spring.

From gentle spirit, happiness is born.
From this savage world, poet's heart is torn.

Death rides a black horse called Fated Time
its galloping hooves, covered in blood red.
Against all of mankind's dark, barbaric crimes
its race victorious when each is dead!

From gentle spirit, happiness is born.
From this savage world, poet's heart is torn.

Words carried by art-winds that poetry blows
    through whispering canyons of paradise.
Their weights beyond what infinity knows
and in hope that life's and love may suffice!

From gentle spirit, happiness is born.
From this savage world, poet's heart is torn.
