Yet Pushed, Ever Onward, I Dare Tread

BEHOLD, I wade into darkening mists,
    My journey, clarification of Fate
When I balked, black ghost said, I insist
Hurry destiny cries it is too late,
Strolling deep within, horrific the sounds
So strangely pungent the circling winds
In distant valleys, baying of the hounds-
I fear what that hideous sign portends.
Now so afraid, through weeping years I trod
Yet pushed, ever onward, I dare tread
My shield, simply faith in Light and my God
And bushels of truth, to me, life has fed
I pray for salvation of divine light
Blessed ending of this courageous flight.

    THREE SONNETS --from blog....

Inspiration, Revelation, Adaptation, With Poetic Verse

    Sonnet I

I saw morn's soft hands stretching to touch bright moonlight
Tis but a fleeting blink betwixt man's death and birth
Dark unknowing is why we so oft fear the night
In that abject blindness, fail to see life's true worth
Alas! Such are sorrows of mankind's constant plight
    That feeds malignant swellings of darkness on earth;
Those of ancient times, of distant long-dead yesterdays
Will one day from that deepest of slumbers arise
Long hidden from flown days and nights, deep weeping grays
Reborn with no thoughts of dark cast previous lies.
As Earth spins, sounding its constant evolving beats
We blind to light's truth, continue our foolish acts
Racing onward counting our coins and useless feats
Life came from light's truth, not so-called man-made facts.

    Sonnet II

I that thought to profit, see beyond Earthly veil
Having never measured truest rectitude of life
In my epic quest, the highest of mountains scale
In youth, blind to sad flowing storms of mortal strife
Alas! We that in our darkness refuse to see
Oft face raging storms that seem to forever swirl
Not realizing, Love's blessings are given free
To counter lightning bolts world's malevolence hurls.
I that foolishly thought to defeat that we die
Later learned the truth our vanity denies
We are lost because we believe that blackest lie
That we were once roaming beasts beneath earthen skies
By our own greatness became gods of divine might
Free to do as we please, revel in our delights.

    Sonnet III

In June, when wondering winds our hearts so lighten
I have found eager bubbling brooks streaming along
Summer's morn setting up today gaily brighten
Nature gifting beauty, songbirds gifting sweet song
Across flowering meadows, busy bees flying
Life many treasures so beautifully sharing
Time to live, not sadly ponder mortal dying
For truest of joy depends on our loving caring
There rests much more happiness in sincere kindness
And sweeter breath within Love's soft-touch inspiring
Eyes to then see, welcoming defeat of blindness
Rather than worldly conflicts and daily sparring
To satisfy our fleshly dreams and deep desires
And embrace light's divine truth that never expires.

Note -- This new creation, was composed in three days of
each day my reading of Thomas Gray's magnificent poem,

    published in 1751....

Gift Given Man, An Invisible Treasure

    From above, beyond heavenly skies
Hurdling into earthen realm in measure
Yes, earth's deep morbid darkness it defies
Gift given man, an invisible treasure
Those that its purpose cannot ever see
Sadly are to its dear purpose stone-blind
Help was needed, so true mortal are we
So lost in blackness, hope we could not find.

Amidst deep turmoil of our raging seas
Selflove, inflicted pains of hopeless greed
    Humanity's volume of tearful pleas
Crying out for true depths of mortal need

Fate's blows, born from lies sent from dark abyss.
    Cannot survive, mankind's embracing this.

I Wish, I Wish Upon Shattered Star

My baby, my baby, left scars on me
So deep! So damn deep you can't ever see
A cut, ghastly cut with long rusty knife
Not gonna, not gonna be loving wife.

I wish, I wish on a shattered star
Heaven would tell me where the hell you are
Send me roadmap to your far away door
Please, please, please, forever you I adore
Hold me, hold me tight, love me true tonight
Care not who was wrong, who the hell was right!

Wish I, wish I this, your sweet smile, your kiss
My darling, my darling, your touch I so miss
Darkness, darkness, now deeply covers me
Only, only, your sweet love can save me!

Back To That Beauty, In World's Dear Blue Sky

I exist, despite world's dark, angry scowls
In my dreams as a panther on the prowl
In tune with Nature, hunted by mankind
Living as a beast, of another kind
Absent, the deep darkness once within me
Fearlessly tread path, setting my soul free!

I exist, truth is I do not know why
I see such gleaming beauty in blue sky
And black rage festering within mankind
    Racing into oblivion so blind!

    I exist, world's powers oft I deny
When alone, 'tis true often tears I cry
In future happiness upward I fly
Back to that beauty, in world's dear blue sky!

    Robert J. Lindley, July 5th, 1977

    Note:
A dear poet friend asked me yesterday to post something not so dark.
Maybe write a new more beautiful and optimistic poem.
Well, I tried but my mood would not allow one to come that I felt measured up. So, I searched in my chest of old poems that had never yet seen the light of day and found this one. Present it, hoping that it measures up to meet the request. I was a very young 23 years old when I composed it--" many ages ago it now so seems".. Presented now with no edits.

Angel That Has Flown Far Away

Angel that has flown far away
dawn's soft glowing, I bow to pray
for her and yet another kiss
she the Love, her Touch I so Miss

This day, heart sees her smile again
    my beloved, my dearest friend
I yield to these new falling tears
thankful for her, our blessed years

She that wakes me every morn
to help heal soul that is so torn
her soft eyes shining so bright
telling me, it will be alright

Angel that has flown far away
Dawn's soft glowing, I bow to pray

Back to creating and presenting a few new sonnets...--Tyr

    *********

Shall We Recall Gems Reaped From Our Love's Tree

Should small differences tear us apart
    Bringing sorrows, upset our applecart
Will we open our eyes to truly see
How truth and love's growth can still set us free
Surely life should be more than seeking gain
More than just gathering bountiful grain
Shall we yet again, our souls truly search
On higher and higher mountaintops perch
Learn to give and love to the nth degree
Bathe ourselves in love's deep romantic sea
Should such differences rip us apart
Causing those rash actions not very smart

Shall we recall gems reaped from our love's tree
Wonderful bliss, love gifted unto we?

    Robert J. Lindley, 6-13-2022

A New Light, Bright Rays That Are Sent To Heal

New light, brighter rays bequeathed to heal

those deep aching fears, terrors of the night,

those wicked world uses to sweet joy kill

in its evil nature uses to blind.

New sight, a soft-cast wind sent to fill sails

those gifts of hope given and life anew

those sweeter dawns, that dark cannot assail

impregnable, new shield given to you.

New faith, a glory Heaven has thus sent

those pearls of wisdom that defeats dark fears

those words healing what was so torn and rent

wiping away sorrows and falling tears.

New light, new sight, new faith, a true godsend.

To a lost and blinded heart heal and mend.

    Robert J. Lindley, 7-06-2022

    Sonnet

    Note :

Joy Requires Not Treasures, Nor Golden Spoon

Watch the rays glitter and dance a new tune
Joy requires not treasures, nor golden spoon.

Written early morn, as dark ran away
changing of the guard, as sun took the day
beacon to waking world, all is not lost
so rise and smile, summertime has no frost.

Watch the rays glitter and dance a new tune
Joy requires not treasures, nor golden spoon.

Life's hope, morning glories in full bloom
watch as a new future fills empty room
take a deep new breath, world will still yet turn
gone is the darkness, ones' soul rightly spurns.

Watch the rays glitter and dance a new tune
Joy requires not treasures, nor golden spoon.

Reprieve, A Return From Ashes And Dust

When heart dares to life again seek
Hope comes gifting a little peek
Over rainbow and a bit beyond
Out far past shores of ones' small pond
Beyond mountains found in our dreams
Beyond greed and our worldly schemes
A return from ashes and dust
    Finding happiness is a must
For there is no life without joy
    Returning, one must this employ
    Courage to risk falling apart
So hard to repair broken heart
Dawn cries out, rise to love renew
Others have done that, so can you!

    Robert J. Lindley, 7-12-2022
    Sonnet

    Note:
    Riverbank, watching waters flow
Living with aching pains in tow
    Golden moon above shining down
    Heaven above, its glowing gown
I ask, Lord what is left of me
Am I truly this fallen tree
Then heard is a clear booming shout
Open your eyes, look all about
Again strive to see, light is free
You do have a true friend in me.

Emerging Path, Hope And Its Bountiful Harvest

From distant hills, seen the veiled valley below
Rolling landscape, covered in star sprinkled snow
Glowing under ravishing rays of midnight moon
Her heart all a flutter, love's spell that month of June
When she thought, would its most cherished touch arrive
Seeding again, her soul, her dreams, her being alive
Heaven above, with its galaxies adorning
How she prayed for an end to her deep mourning
And with trust, she began to again new love feel
Its radiant warmth, its ravenous piercing steel
Emerging path, hope and its sweet bountiful gifts
That caressing hand, ecstasy that so uplifts.

From distant hills, seen the veiled valley below.
Rolling landscape, covered in star sprinkled snow.

And with trust, she began to again new love feel.
Its radiant warmth, its ravenous piercing steel.

Verses born upon a too soon waking
    Wherein awaits morn's glorious breaking
Into life, its sweet magnificent glow
Birthed from blessings of what true love sows.

I may be older than most. I may say things not everybody will like.
But despite all of that. I will never lower myself to the level of Liars, Haters, Cheats, and Hypocrites.

There Was A Heart, As Large As Ocean Skies

Moonstruck magic, from her large bright blue eyes
There was a heart, as large as ocean skies
And I had met an angel pure and true
Garden romantic roses so soon grew
If only life would show her my love gaze
And set beautiful fires flaming in blaze.

If he, there in that soft fancy new suit
Could see my now-born love had taken root
As a grove of delicious apple trees
Searing eager soul, so ready to please
If only, this morn, romance sets its treat
And therein we both Cupid's arrows meet.

Moonstruck magic, from her large bright blue eyes.
There was a heart, as large as ocean skies.

    Note:
This was born from a first love encounter back in 1973.
And yes love united two into one, but fate and world's
Many dark temptations eventually tore that blessing asunder.
Youth and blindness, worked to destroy what was golden.

Just downright beautiful. The feelings are back too! Great.
