Now Gone, I So Wish I Could Sing A Song

Why did he smile only by few inches
His face contorted and it was askew
By the garden was a flock of finches
Old age, do we forget what we once knew
His arms were skinny, not near as mighty
His head kinda bald and his beard bright white
He said his first wife was mad, too flighty
When loving her body was quite a sight
But he was my beloved dad and proud
    Often complained of failing eyesight
And when he did that it was very loud
Told me when you do something do it right.

My dad, so tough, honest as day is long.
Now gone, I so wish I could sing a song!

    Sonnet,

My father was the most honest man I've ever known.
    And tough as nails too.

You Wake Up Too Early Was All Of It Just Bad Sad Game

When your feet have crushed the grass at the cemetery gate
You forget youthful dreams but for supper do not be late
Hope climbed a mountain just to see the birthing sunrise
You wake on a Saturday morning to your own damn surprise
Your heart skips a beat or two when you see her pretty face
She wearing those pearl earrings and all dressed up in lace
Life stopped being so kind but your dog licked your face
And your own house is a total wreck much to your disgrace
All the world so hates you but your boss gave you a huge raise
And for once your lover actually gave you your due praise.

Dawn arrived early, its glow a soft-cast glimmering light
Your amused watching your old dog and old cat have a fight
All this darken world sits a burning, you add to the flames
You wake up too early, was all of it just bad sad game.

The Solid True Story Of A Young Gunfighter

Back when I fought this world, my sword was razor sharp
Sent that devil fiend to hearing a demon's harp
I am sorry that his blood stained danceroom floor
Then I told his worthless friends, clean up blood and gore
The next day, his uncle came to pay me a call
He spit his vile venom and then he said his all
I gave him the same, he buried just out of town
No problem at all, he too was a smartass clown
I make no wrong claim, that is how it occurred
On that place your money, as that is my sworn word!
I was born a fighter and it is in my blood
My old grandpappy once tamed a raging flood!

These modern days such is said to be just tall tales.
Like when I was minnow fishing, caught a blue whale.

Guy Turn Out To Be Such A Clueless Act

Good ole frank, you know he will let you down
O'yes he is alright for a few drinks
Because not much else to do in this town
Far, far too often acts before he thinks
I know his flaws better than my own hands
His drunken escapades and stupid acts
How got fired stealing from his own band
And other bad things most of them plain facts
He borrows but never ever pays back
His other friend Rick's girl he up and stole
Took her dad's house, nailed her in the sack
Lucky at craps, seven his constant roll.

Good ole Frank, he will stab ya while you're down.
And that is why I ran him out of town.

Note- Guy really was a true clueless act.
Did a few dozen things I did not mention.
I defended him as far as I could, but then I ran him off.
Heard about 5 years later he got shot down in Florida doing an armed robbery of a Liquor store. Spent years in prison. Some people just never learn.

What Music Is That Which Soothes Eager Soul

What music is that cheers the eager heart
Whereas I can find none on any star chart
Nor shadow of which behind resting sun
Waits night and its roaring of battle guns
And prayers uttered by dying men
Pales chasm between sainthood and ones sin
Hold the thought, that human life is much more
Than wasting years and a beggar's last score.

What music is that which soothes eager soul
Where sinners in hellish fires must pay toll
Whilst in anguish they beg for treasures lost
    Thereby forgetting sinners greatest costs.

What music can a sainthood ever bring.
Or wife be without lover's wedding ring.

Like Bald Eagle Soaring Upon The Bluest Sky

The storm crept up so silently did it arrive
The wind slithering in like a rabid panther
Something about that danger makes one feel alive
Maybe death, a possibility, taking that dive
As ones' future seems to fuse into frothy dross
A sly shades of sheer terror creeps into plain view
You mind goes blank and your spirit is at sad loss
The ole world seems topsy turvy, fear still in you
Suddenly in the distance, light brilliantly shines
You feel that life has came back to you to repeat
All this dark vengeful world shall leave, your life is thine
Banquet tis yours and such delicious food to eat!

Your nerves steady and you then know exactly why.
Like bald eagle soaring upon the bluest sky.

Yes, We Survivors Do Live On But How

Many should die, millions or just enow
Yes, war and the fallen lives of war dead
Corpses strewn upon wet blood-soaked ground
In fertile fields, were farmers once did plow.

Many should die, millions or just enow
War the savagery of lost mankind
Death, carnage, loss and misery expands
In fertile fields, were farmers once did plow.

Many should die, millions or just enow
And tears fall like snow from a weeping sky
And mothers, daughters, many wear black dress
In fertile fields, were farmers once did plow.

Many should die, millions or just enow
Yes, we survivors do live on but how?

Just In Time To See My Many Fairy Friends Flee

I heard the gusto from running river current
Walking the big woods, letting my spirit rejoice
White splashed foam and roaring a massive torrent
Speaking with wood fairies in a mythical voice
That language was like mother's sweet applesauce to me
They talked on golden rays dancing in moonbeams
Fairy-dust ships sailing upon all seven sea
And the mellow echoes found in deep fairy dreams
We spoke of the raging beast that roams after midnight
How it slays all woodland creatures it can capture
Talk about its bloody claws and hideous sight
They asked me why such, we mortals enraptures!

Then I woke, I had slept under an old oak tree.
Just in time to see my many fairy friends flee!

A Bright Yellow Golden Moon Floating High Above

A bright yellow golden moon floating high above
Its radiant rays falling softly to our sweet earth
Beauty, flowers, her dancing with me all in love
And my heart happily singing for all its worth.
That epic summer we both swore Fall we would wed
Gleaming sun that day was bright vermillion glowing
She my sweet darling, arising from our soft bed
Our kisses were like a raging river flowing

My lover and I had our rejoicing glows too
Alas! How could we know such ardent love could die
She sent a dear John letter and to Hawaii flew
Left me alone, with a mystery, no damn clue.

I remember my body shook and my mind ran.
She, had thus deserted me for another man.

Up Early Picking Peaches From His Tree

Eyes golden zenith holds mysteries galore
like a blue streak feeds itself doubly blind
in its wakings an old barn without doors
the farm animals simply do not mind.
Nobody saw, for sure nobody cares
The farmer milks the cows so thirsty is he
Digging for gold he does not ever dare
Up early picking peaches from his tree
Wife a lovely maiden, her love she shares
Farm is not much, twenty acres and a mule
Envy no, he thinks they do not compare
Beside he has a pretty daughter so like a jewel

Nothing like rich man's iron gate horse farm
Farmer lives simply does nobody harm.

Took My New Harley For A Morning Spin

I found a treasure chest without a key
It was full of hope, ocean and blue sea
A few gems, some golden coins sprinkled in
Much other loot my head began to spin.
Map inside showing cave full with gold crowns
Just over paradise, miles west of town
Rose early to wander out get that loot
Put on my gear and my old hiking boots.
Found hidden cave and sauntered on in
There lay skeletons of seven dead men
Appears it 'twas a robber's getaway
I took the whole load that fortunate day.

I woke with the bright sun shining right in
Took my new Harley for a morning spin
Might as well as it was but a big dream
Well, I have lottery ticket to dream.

I may be older than most. I may say things not everybody will like.
But despite all of that. I will never lower myself to the level of Liars, Haters, Cheats, and Hypocrites.
