    Default Soldierstone.........................

    what a story. from Colorado:
This Vietnam Memorial was envisioned by Lt Col (ret) Stuart A Beckley when he was dying of cancer, and approved by the Forest Service February 1995, and approved and completed just before he died in November 1995. It is a memorial to all the soldiers who died in Vietnam, where ever they were from. It is a twelve foot high polished stone memorial with quotes from several languages surrounded by a wall built by the tenth special forces from Fort Carson, CO. The wall is meant to resemble a three sided Vietnam SF firebase. Scattered around the site are about eighteen "leaves of stone". Polished stone blocks set in the ground with quotes from different languages. The site is on Sargent Mesa, Saguache County, Colorado. On the Colorado trail. It is about a twenty five mile trip by state highway and county road from the village of Saguache, Colorado.

Then a short walk from the parking area to the monument across the Meadow. Remember to bring coins, challenge coins, and a bullet to leave in the ammo can at the base to honor the fallen heroes.

the object on top is believed to be a mortar. its believed the desolate location was to prevent it from being vandalized

Wow! Thanks namvet. Just Thanks. Can't explain the tears. Six of my friends are on the Wall in D.C.

    Great tribute, sadly.

Four of mine are. I'm just glad my dad's name isn't. I used to play football with them. They lived next door in base housing. Never came home.
