`Woman shot to death at busy San Francisco tourist attraction`

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Kathryn "Kate" Steinle was out for an evening stroll with her father along the San Francisco waterfront when she was killed by a man who police said she didn't know.`

`Police said Thursday they had arrested Francisco Sanchez in the shooting about an hour after it occurred. Authorities said he does not yet have a lawyer.`

The shooting occurred Wednesday evening while still light at Pier 14 — one of the busiest tourist destinations in the city, a place where people gather to take in the views, joggers exercise, and families push strollers at all hours.

Liz Sullivan told the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/1IuWbKw) the killing of her daughter was unbelievable and surreal.

    "I don't think I've totally grasped it," Sullivan said.`

"She just kept saying, 'Dad, help me, help me,'" Sullivan said. Just about the most painful thing you'll ever hear as a dad! Horrible. And the randomness of it.`

    Update....

`Five-time deportee and seven-time convicted felon Francisco Sanchez has been jailed on suspicion of shooting and killing 31-year-old Kathryn Steinle Wednesday evening while taking photos with her father at Pier 14 in San Francisco, California. Sanchez was freed after the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department refused to honor a request by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain him, following a policy adopted in 2014. He was arrested soon after the shooting.`

He was supposed to be turned over to ice but San Francisco didn't do that, they turned him loose. Sanctuary city has blood on it's hands.

    How sad.

I remember I spoke to a cop in Gainesville GA ( called little Mexico ) one night in the wee hours of the morning and he explained it is a waste of time to even deport the criminals any longer, he said half of the ones deported back to Mexico in a weeks time show up in the same police department, for a different crime under a new name, heck any more they just walk right back over.

From The Associated Press 3 July 2015:
    ---------------------------------------------------------
Kice said ICE issued a detainer for Sanchez in March, requesting notification of his release and that he stay in custody until immigration authorities could pick him up. The detainer was not honored, she said. Freya Horne, counsel for the sheriff's office, said Friday that federal detention orders are not a legal basis to hold someone, so Sanchez was released April 15. San Francisco is a sanctuary city, and local money cannot be spent to cooperate with federal immigration law. The city does not turn over people who are in the country illegally unless there's an active warrant for their arrest, she said. Horne said they checked and found none. ICE could have issued an active warrant if they wanted the city to keep him, she said.

"It's not legal to hold someone on a request to detain. This is not just us. This is a widely adopted position," Horne said.

And very pretty, and very young, so sad. I won't even bother looking, does Liberal La La Land out there allow for the death penalty? I doubt it, but hope so.

From The Associated Press 10 June 2015:
    ------------------------------------------------------------
The Mexican government says it regrets Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's decision to sign into law an $800 million border security package that will mean more state troopers, cameras and a spy plane to patrol the U.S. state's 1,200-mile border with Mexico.

One of the provisions will toughen punishments for convicted human traffickers.

Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said Wednesday the new law will "promote division between our societies, and runs contrary to the principles and values governing the U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship."

From The Associated Press 6 July 2015:
    -------------------------------------------------------------
A man arrested in the seemingly random fatal shooting of a woman at a San Francisco pier admitted in a jailhouse interview that he shot her, but said it was an accident. Francisco Sanchez, 45, told KGO-TV Sunday in a mix of Spanish and English that he found a gun wrapped inside a shirt while he was sitting on a bench at the pier and smoking a cigarette.

"So I picked it up and ... it started to fire on its own," Sanchez said, adding that he heard three shots go off.

...Sanchez said he returned to the U.S. after being deported because he found better-paying jobs in the country than in Mexico.
