We were having this discussion among our group at work. I'm in a good company now, but had to blow through three bad ones here in DFW before finding this one. There is an Information Technology intern that studies and lives in Austin. He says Austin has a "California work culture". Do liberal hipsters avoid hiring older workers? One thing that impressed me with Boston is how militantly age discrimination is thought of and dealt with. Are there any other cities that have the same mindset on this matter? I get the idea that a California liberal thinks the government has a monopoly on giving individuals a break. On the other end of the spectrum, I was impressed how even the gay guys in Cambridge, Mass. don't retaliate against someone for being a Fundamentalist Christian. Massachusetts liberals at least live out their ideology with their own time and money. With some very important exceptions, the work culture in Dallas sucks. Thankfully I found one of those exceptions.
