Default Discussing ideas for a novel

I have been thinking in writing a novel. A couple ideas of mine:

    1. The Skarlett Shinning: A 16 years old girl is kidnapped by a psychopath. After finding herself completely helpless and chained in a basement, she gains some time by telling her kidnapper she would like to murder a human being before dying, just to know what it's like to have that kind of power. This will lead to the kidnapping of a catholic priest and his ultimate death by the hands of this girl. Her fate would not be disclosed at the end.

    2. The Dragon Sanctuary: A painter and a writer go to a cabain in the wilderness to create the best possible masterpiece ever. A painting and a book, respectively. However, the writer finds himself without ideas and start developing a strong sense of envy and deep hatred toward the painter. His ultimate choice would be to commit murder and burn down the cabain to the ashes, with the corpse and the painting in it, to then write about it, claiming that all that is left from the biggest painting in the world is his description of it in his novel. This way he "steals" the painting by turning it into a narrative.

What do you think of this ideas? Which one would you choose and why? Do you have any other idea or suggestion?

Yes ... it does seem to be a recurring theme.

I'd come up with a far more productive version of 'murder'. I'd think of a plotline of a future Earth, where the world's humanity had finally discarded Socialism, consigning it to the same dustbin of history already true for Hitler's National Socialism.

With Socialism removed from the nations of the world, I'd describe the new golden age that would result. Indeed, various plotlines could be woven around that central premise.

I suspect that the resulting novels could prove highly inspirational ... ?

not my kind of Books... But i had a coworker lunch buddy that read that type of thing all the time.
I suspect she'd like the 1st one. Not sure about the open ended ending unless you did a squeal.

She seemed to be into the one on one serial killer, cat and mouse, detective type thing. high or the mental conflict and moral ambiguity and compromise of the detective. I think she'd be drawn to the victims dilemma and choices.
I don't think the artist envy line would grab her as much.

But um yeah, Augusto any particular reason your story has them killing a priest.. any uh... issues you working out there? Why not kill an atheist

    but i'll go shower now.

I'm a published illustrator and have worked with authors all around the world (whether children's books, sci-fi or Political Cartoons. I've even ghost written survival techniques and illustrated for the articles.

PM me and we can discuss your goals and I may be able to direct you to some folks. Currently, one of my clients is laying down prospects for a feature film.

I have 3 books finished and I'm looking forward to get a publisher. As you might know, it's not an easy task. I even edited the cover of my first novel myself:

As you might notice, my natural language is Spanish and I live in Venezuela.

My "DARK" works (and oddly enough.....with religious connotations).

Having to do with the occult and the bringing in of EVIL. It also has to do with Lazarus being a hero and stomping out this evil. As you recall, he was brought back to life but the Bible never recorded his death (again) that I'm aware of. Interesting series if you care to read them. We have a new one coming out in a year or so (hopefully) and then we plan to start a "walking dead" style graphic novel if the feature film does't pan out this go-around.

I also have some damsels n distress that I've done for an author in the UK.

Below is a few images from one of my children's books with an author next to the Canadian border:

Outstanding! and, yes, I do know how difficult the process of becoming a published author. The REAL hard part is becoming a success!!!! Ha! Before I die, I hope to see a film or TV series which became successful through the author's writing as well as my complimenting his/her work with my illustrations.

    Good luck with your endeavors!!!

The second one. However, it would be better if they both hated each other and were evenly matched leading to suspense about which would survive.

These two ideas sound more like video games than books.

When I was a senior in high school, my literature class required us to formulate an idea for a book project. We worked in pair, so of course I chose my best friend. Who is far more liberal than I am.

Our idea involved a sheltered only child who was home schooled by a single mom. His only outside activities involved the small religious cult that his mother belonged to. By the time he reached 21, he was quite handsome and intelligent. He also had remarkable oratory skills. The young man worked his way into modeling and eventually became TV and movie actor.
At the height of his popularity, he began running for public office. He was elected by large margins in city races and eventually became a state legislator. After a state's senior U.S. senator dies under mysterious circumstances, the man runs for that office and wins.
The National Party has been out of the White House for 12 years and needs a charismatic candidate. Our man is perfect for the job. He has no real opinions or policies and only a vague outline of his plans for the nation. But he is a master of oratory skills and his looks and charms spellbind the nation.
Despite questions about his background and intentions, the man wins a sweeping mandate.
It is only after the election that the nation realizes what a select few have known all along.
They have elected The Antichrist, and now his evil followers are in control.

Well Gabs, I suggest you write that book. Seems like a surefire winner, if the writer can fill in the meat of the story with captivation words, inspiration, suspense and imagination. Go for it... Tyr
