What's the official DP Policy on morgue photos?

Instead of flipping the bird, you flash a morgue photo? Dude, that's just weird. Not even in the cage. I like to watch me some fucked up videos from times to time, and look through some strange photos. Sue me, I'm weird at times too! LOL But not here, this is a politically based site. One such photo sets off another.

And even more seriously, I have been contacted by the company of the one and only ad system used here, previously to remove certain content. They really aren't fond of using ads on pages that display crazy content.

Truth is, there are TONS AND TONS of morgue photos out there. I don't know the laws, privacy issues and such, and don't really want to know, as they won't be here. But I would imagine it's not unlawful all of the time, with so many out there. Maybe they are leaked, who knows.

I once found the makeshift morgue room at JFK Hospiotal in NJ when we were kids. My aunt was in there like forever, with bone cancer. My brother and I used to go with our Dad, and we would go the cafe, and of course never make it there. Wheelchair races, foot races, ringing buzzers... a little harmless mayhem Somewhere a few levels down in an elevator we shouldn't have been on. We couldn't get in there, and we got escorted off of that section. Was still cool though!

I did a job at the Baptist Hospital in San Antonio about ten years ago where we busted off a corner and made it a separate clinic. The 4th floor is where you go when you ain't going back home. Roy Akers Funeral Home is your next stop. And we had to use the elevator that went to the morgue to go up and down. So the elevator stops to pick us up and there's this bodybag on a cart. Ever seen that favorite move where you start to step forward and suddenly reverse course? We were like, we'll wait.

I'm just not seeing the point to posting the pics. Shock value? Or is this just a sideways attack on the rules?

OK we gonna go there. I had a revolving bed in the ICU one night. The second deceased of the day was waiting for me when I got in. It was close to visiting hours so I just closed the curtain after prepping and wrapping the decedent, figuring I would wait till the visitors left to take her downstairs. Halfway through visiting hour I got a call from the admission office that I had to get that body downstairs right away. I wondered aloud what the rush could be. She says the funeral director was coming RIGHT NOW. I had a room full of visitors and no way to slip a morgue stretcher out. Understand the morgue stretcher has a raisable steel bin and a lightweight cover that conceals it. I asked one of my colleagues to come up with a plan. She comes in with the stretcher, a patient gown and a couple of sheets. I almost lost it when she climbed up on the cover, lay down with the gown over her uniform and asked me to wheel her out, all the while smiling and waving and saying how nice all the nurses were. She jumped off at the elevators and we almost choked laughing so hard. we ended up waiting half an hour at the loading dock for the funeral director anyway. Yes I am gonna have to write a book one day.

I guess my point is this: I've seen dead bodies on a battlefield. The ONE thing they don't look like is dead bodies on TV. And THAT is my issue here. The people who want to post these pics probably don't have to deal with the reality of it and probably have never had to. They think it's all clinical and whatnot based on their favorite NCIS/CSI episode.

I have seen the dead in all sorts of conditions. None look like what appears on TV. The majority of people in our society have never and will never see someone deceased unless in a coffin after the mortuary artists are through with them. People seem most interested in the famous or infamous. But there are plenty of places online to look for that so don't see any reason to have that here.
