Default ISIS Chemical Weapons Against Kurds

ISIS (or extreme islamacism) is a serious and expensive threat to US, much moreso than Cuba:

U.S. investigating 'credible' reports that ISIS used chemical weapons

By Barbara Starr, Jim Sciutto and Elise Labott, CNN

Updated 2:51 AM ET, Fri August 14, 2015

<cite class="el-editorial-source" style="box-sizing: border-box; font-family: CNN, 'Helvetica Neue', Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-weight: 700;">Washington (CNN)</cite>The U.S. is investigating what it believes are "credible" reports that ISIS fighters used mustard agent in an attack against Kurdish Peshmerga this week, causing several of them to fall ill, U.S. officials working in at least three separate parts of the Obama administration said Thursday.

All of them strongly emphasized more intelligence is being gathered on exactly what may have happened near the town of Makhmour in northern Iraq. While there have been accounts posted in social media about the incident, the officials said they have independent information that strongly led them to assess there was a use of chemical weapons. The officials would not tell CNN what evidence led them to this belief.

The officials emphasized the intelligence indicates it was likely a small amount of chemical agent and a low concentration. U.S. officials are concerned, but this is not considered to be a massive attack...
Of course, they couldn't have gotten them from Iraqi stockpiles...

When chem weapons were used in Syria before obama and team blamed Assad trying to turn world against his regime- and justify our helping and arming the terrorist elements there.
I stated then that they used them on there own people as propaganda and a means to allow obama to justify aiding them --his terrorist pals..
Assad had no reason to use the weapons and certainly the damage inflicted would be inconsequential compared to the fall out and world aid that would come to help his enemies!
It was obvious they used them but few people pointed that glaring fact out--I did.. --Tyr

NYT came out last year regarding chemical weapons found in Iraq. There was some indication they'd known for a long time. Seems when Assad used them, they pretty much had to admit to the moves to Syria, though some were likely from other sources. Now ISIS.

No doubt, the ME is not a nice neighborhood. Who really doubts they wouldn't use any weapons they got their hands on?

It amazes me that, even now, so little is known about how information about these weapons was disseminated, back in 2006 !!

And I've referred to this myself before, and repeatedly ..

RICK SANTORUM released news about all of this back in June, 2006. He held a Press conference, releasing the contents of two pages of a newly-declassified portion of an Intelligence report, which said that in excess of 500 WMD's had been captured by your forces, from Iraq.

This is, in large part, why I support Santorum. HE has never been afraid to face and be open about the truth on these matters. It testifies to the disgraceful management exercised by news outlets that they clamped down so effectively on any news of Santorum's Conference leaking outside of the room where it was held.

Nothing in Europe was ever said about it .. AT ALL. Not one word printed, or relayed. Certain limited leakages did reach American outlets, Fox News, for example. But many just didn't cover it. It went too much against the grain of the PREFERRED perception of what was 'true'.

    Observe ....

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/2006/06...d-in-iraq.html

The United States has found 500 chemical weapons in Iraq since 2003, and more weapons of mass destruction are likely to be uncovered, two Republican lawmakers said Wednesday.

"We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons," Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said in a quickly called press conference late Wednesday afternoon.

Reading from a declassified portion of a report by the National Ground Intelligence Center, a Defense Department intelligence unit, Santorum said: "Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq's pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist."

    • Click here to read the declassified portion of the NGIC report.

He added that the report warns about the hazards that the chemical weapons could still pose to coalition troops in Iraq.

"The purity of the agents inside the munitions depends on many factors, including the manufacturing process, potential additives and environmental storage conditions. While agents degrade over time, chemical warfare agents remain hazardous and potentially lethal," Santorum read from the document.

"This says weapons have been discovered, more weapons exist and they state that Iraq was not a WMD-free zone, that there are continuing threats from the materials that are or may still be in Iraq," said Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

The weapons are thought to be manufactured before 1991 so they would not be proof of an ongoing WMD program in the 1990s. But they do show that Saddam Hussein was lying when he said all weapons had been destroyed, and it shows that years of on-again, off-again weapons inspections did not uncover these munitions.

Hoekstra said the report, completed in April but only declassified now, shows that "there is still a lot about Iraq that we don't fully understand."
This is all very old news. However, it has also been HIDDEN news.

Do you see why Santorum is such an asset to America ?

I remember when the Stand Off was happening and Saddam was playing his games with the UN inspectors, they'd be at a facility trying to get in and while they were being delayed, convoys of trucks were taking off out of the back entrance. When the last truck was gone, then the inspectors would be allowed inside.

Then when W told Saddam he had a deadline to leave Iraq or face invasion, there were convoys of trucks sent to Syria. Speculation at the time was those were the Chemical Weapons in question, but the liberals didn't think so.

Then Chem Weapons were found in Iraq, then they were used in Syria, now they're being used in Iraq.

Seems like there's a hell of a lot of Chemical Weapons being used - when liberals will shout loudly that there isn't and never were any.

    !sarcasm alert!

    What!
ISIS is using TONS of VX, Sarin, Mustard gas, the mobile weapons stations are next and our only warning might be a Mushroom cloud?!!

    uh... no?
"The officials emphasized the intelligence indicates it was likely a small amount of chemical agent and a low concentration."

And they need to get some more confirmation about the attack to be sure.

Yes well... it doesn't matter ...this incident just REINFORCES real and good reasons of our INVASION! WMDs were going to kill us all!!!
So the lost of BILLIONS(trillions) of U.S. dollars, the many of dead troops, the many PTSD aldeled men and women and the thousands of disabled U.S. soldiers, millions of dead and disabled Iraqis,
and the creation of current group of former Saddam Bahist military that MAKE UP ISIS being free to run around the country....

All JUSTIFIED by this reported incident.

Rev, I don't think anyone was talking about 'tons.' That is certainly unknown. I heard a retired general last evening, on Fox around 5:30pm. I was nearly asleep-didn't catch his name. He said this attack, based on injuries, were likely from a cache found by ISIS; likely with the help of Iraqi officers now aligned with them.

He said that these caches are all over Iraq, the chemicals degraded but still dangerous. He said more dangerous to those handling than to whom they may want to use them against. A lot of our military spent much of their time trying to find and destroy, but many are buried. It's the way Saddam worked.

There's no sense in refighting the war, it was eventually won by Bush and Patraeus than lost under Obama. Should there have been the war or not? Area of sincere debate.

Rev - of course it's degraded. They have a shelf life; everyone should know that.

I think it's funny that there are still people running around saying there never were any, when there obviously was a lot.

And now it's in the hands of the worst terrorists the world has ever seen, which is one of the main points argued prior to invasion.

Revelarts, Santorum dealt with this back in 2006, when newly-disseminating to the HIGHLY EMBARRASSED media what your own Intelligence services HAD discovered in Iraq. The Report Santorum referred to clearly recognised that degraded WMD's had been found (in large quantities), but that their contents were still potent enough to be dangerous in the wrong hands.

The real issue is whether or not what ISIS is using are far more of those old WMD's, which they've managed to make work for them.

    I'll re-post my link:

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/2006/06...d-in-iraq.html

Question: do you like the thought, Revelarts, of so very many people being suckered by the Press's conspiracy of silence (.. I bet you like that one .. ??) that even now, they rebel against believing the TRUTH ?

    Further quote:

Santorum pointed out that during Wednesday's debate, several Senate Democrats said that no weapons of mass destruction had been found in Iraq, a claim, he said, that the declassified document proves is untrue.

"This is an incredibly — in my mind — significant finding. The idea that, as my colleagues have repeatedly said in this debate on the other side of the aisle, that there are no weapons of mass destruction, is in fact false," he said.
The Left never did like any truths they found inconvenient. In this case, they crushed the very knowledge of it from any likelihood of widespread comprehension and acceptance. 'Better' not to have an inconvenient truth known, if it can be hidden entirely.
