    Default First household disaster

    Welp had to happen sometime

Went to make the morning tea and feet got wet, never a good sign, looked up to see the ceiling was bulging and water dropping through.

Have cleared away all the junk plaster and ended up finding two sources for slow leaks, a poor Saturday.

Overall I expexted this to be a lot worse than it was, but good 'ol internet with the 'what to do when a pipe bursts' for the win.

What was your first house disaster? How did you cope, pre-internet?
If you also agree that an animals suffering should be avoided rather than encouraged, consider what steps you can take.

    Default disaster

Mine had to be the bees. I was home one day cleaning and wandered into the bedroom to check email and saw a bee on the lampshade. I didn't panic. but when I looked around I saw another one on the curtain. then I saw her friends. All several hundred of them. They had chewed a hole in the plaster above the window and were coming in to say hi. I grabbed the cats, slammed the door and called the maintainance guys at the apartments. This was a weekend. The guy thought I was being hysterical over a few bugs. He changed his mind when he came over and looked. He ran off and got his co worker and a shop vac. They both got stung a few times. Outside they found a hive under the eave that needed to be cleaned out. I told them they had to clear it out or they would be paying for a hotel room for me and V4R since we couldn't sleep there especially as he is allergic to stings. They had to call a specialist exterminator on the weekend to pull the hive out. Then they had to fill in the hole they had chewed.

Well, after all that, wan't even a burst pipe, just a weak seal on the wall connecting the shower to the bath, so the water ran down the wall through the floorboards >,>

Bees sound a lot more concerning than water 0,0
