Default `Sam Elliott, a Leading Man Again at 71, No Cowboy Hat Required`

    Always liked this actor!

"MALIBU, Calif. — Not too long ago, the actor Sam Elliott, who has spent much of his 46-year career alternately fighting and embracing habitual typecasting as America’s cowboy, was referred to as a “male ingénue.”
At 71, Mr. Elliott is not young, and anyone who’s witnessed the knowing gleam in his peepers wouldn’t for a second peg him as innocent. But with lauded performances this year in three indie films and guest spots in two acclaimed television series, Mr. Elliott is definitely having a moment."

More: Just a good write up!

A good action movie scene with Sam...

I've always liked Sam Elliot. He's a great actor and his delivery is perfect. His mustache deserves an Oscar just on it's own merits.

Steven Seagal... not so much. I've never liked him. Had to lmao when I read the story about Seagal getting funding from the Mafia to make one of his movies... and then went crying to the Feds for protection when things went sideways.

Every time I read or hear about Elliot I always think about NCIS, and always think he was Mike Franks on that show, for whatever reason. Maybe the raspy voice. But it wasn't him.

I thought this was the post full movie thread. my mistakes I'll post it up over there.

Sam Elliot's a cool actor though.
Tombstone and the Big Laboski stand out for me. and always recognize his voice over in commercials.

Back when I did it it paid cash( usually equal to couple days pay for a few hours work, 5 or 6 hours), free beer and of course added was the girls. They were not part of the payment but came along with the job since many of them liked the wild and tough guys.
Besides when I was young it was great fun.. these days more fun to not do a job like that, older and wiser.
My nephew Micheal did it Memphis , for a couple years back in the early 90's, pay was still cash and quite good.
He certainly had it easier than I did .. I worked some really tough dives. Mostly because I had a , "don't give a damn attitude" back then.-Tyr

I worked in a damned biker bar the Outlaws loved to frequent.

It's not worth it now. They got more liability laws on bouncers nowadays than they have on cops.

All your medical bills were on you. Nobody paid for any of your injuries. Best not to get injured as that vastly increased ones profit.. I got injured and sewed up a few times but always by getting hit blindsided by the second guy. Hell, only worried about scars on my face(three) never anywhere else. Had top of the head stitches 5 times, no biggie to me as my hair covered them up.. Ladies tend to like a handsome face.
Actually small number when compared to the number of fights I was in, sometimes months later at a bar not even the club where I work. Guys I didnt even know tagging me from out of the blue because I had busted up their brother, uncle , friend, nephew , etc.
That shit got old really quick by the time I hit 35 and had my daughter. I stopped at that age but did it free for 7 more years and at my good friend's bar. He was too old(59/66) and needed the help. I hung in there gambling and as his friend I volunteered. He died 7th year from cancer, wife sold the bar. I stopped volunteering.
Would never do that over again..... money was great but wasn't really worth it..-Tyr
