Trust me, I am not in any clique there nor am I a popular poet that smoozes to garner favor or
special status. In fact, just wrote a big slam there about 5 or 6 days ago! That one cost me 5 poets dropping me as a favorite poet of theirs.
Yet I will speak truth regardless of what it may cost me..
I am just shocked to see 4 of my poems on that list at the same time..
Especially when 32 spots are taken up by Silent One--Tyr

    It's because you are awesome!
If the freedom of speech is taken away
then dumb and silent we may be led,
    like sheep to the slaughter.

I never get that from anybody other than my wife!
And I have her fooled because I plead myself to have been orphaned, beat like a step child
and left for dead by a mad raving band of gypsies on a week long bender.
Methinks she loves my humor, not that big round tumor sitting on my shoulders! lol

But thanks for the thought my talented poetess friend.. You Rock ! -Tyr

Now they added another one--makes it five...
Here are the five chosen in order of ranking-Tyr
    1.

    Dead Men Do Tell Tales

I saw, the rot of sad, deep selfish desires,
    burning endlessly in clever fires
Piles of cash a tall mountain high
stolen by those that cleverly steal and lie
six lying days every week ,
while they race into church pretending
to be ever so mild and meek

The preacher crying all to give so much more
while he lives in a mansion with a golden door
drunks living with no other life
    have sacrificed family and wife
naked women on the the street,
selling their pride and body like meat
hustlers getting rich selling poisonous dope
as they hang themselves with an evil rope

I looked for solace and found there was none
just endless cowards crying on the run
A world teaching wrong is so damn right
blind monkeys never seeing the light
    dancing in fruitless trees,
tree-rats eating with relish their rotting cheese

Looking for Spring to bring life anew
I too am blind and without a damn clue
a fool holding onto a false hope
on a tight leash and even shorter rope

Where is the miracle we each think can come
we see it shining there for some
A treasure glaring in the glimmering Sun
gifted not stolen by guile and a gun
So I finally turned to family for relief
ease my Soul, winter in my long lost belief
that Life must give us all a saving line
other than more food when we sit to dine

Where Now Shines Light and Love

Far, far, far away rejected darkened hate
now banished into its own gloom.
That black fog that did so dictate
the misery in my lonely room!

Pain, pain, pain was its desired fruit
I, a mere vassal to its decrees.
Finally found was its bitter root
hiding down deep as the seas!

Swift, swift, swift came the decision
to rip out one nasty, evil tree.
    With deepest thought and precision
soul ripped the seed from me!

Hope, dearest hope now rests in that hole.
Where now shines love, always a worthy goal!

    Robert J. Lindley, 10-12-2015

Note- A sonnet to remind me, darkness has a
seed that grows from within. Cut out the
seed--light and love comes back in.

    3.
    The Shining Mr Black

Mr. Black, a clever and insidious little man
had a very dark and wicked little Muse.
Deception the primary weapon in his sad plan
aways holding another slick trick to use!

Wearer of such a superb deceiving face mask
he practiced reciting lies two by two.
Always ready with a lie should you dare ask
confident he can always deceive you!

Wrapped in clouds with many halo's to spare
so many admired his falsely laid path.
With absolutely no honor, he hadn't a care
no fear of retribution delivered wrath.

Yet truth, as so often, hits him with fact.
Glaring mistake, such he can never retract!

    Robert J. Lindley, 09-27-2015
Note: Truth has a way of making itself known,
eventually, about such clever little deceivers.

    4.
    Lost And Never Found

Such sudden blackness, as if an overnight pall
Delivered by dark powers that dwell in hell.
An odorous smell, coming down a long, evil hall
fear and loathing and misery, I could tell.

Descended and engulf me into its spiritual fold
An invisible mist, sticky and rotting ripe!
Unspoken curses complete with the power to scold
Splashing blood rich colors in every stripe!

A futility born, no solace from deep desolation
Vaporous wisps, stinging on into my heart.
World now gone, alone in my cutting isolation
This is where my evil insanity had to start.

No rescue came, the darkness rapidly ate away.
No morn ever broke out, into the light of day!

    I Saw Butterflies Drinking Rain

As a kid, I raced to climb a tree
with joyful spring in my steps.
With sweetest youthful life in me
    like wonders from ocean depths.

    Loving sunshine and chasing bees
    bold was my adventurous play.
Mysteries lurking in the tall trees
    new treasure found every day.

    I saw butterflies drinking rain
red hawk flying in the air.
Images stored in my young brain
life was sweet and so fair!

Nature taking me into its fold
sent wildlife to show me how.
To touch wisdom before being old
    start truly loving life now.

    Crossing streams, leaping stones
    such pleasures came my way.
Careful to not break tender bones
    kneel down and softly pray.

Skies of blue gracing my flights
    with cheer in the clouds.
Life was loving these fine sights
    gladly avoiding city crowds!

Home is food and safety for me
    mother and father so true.
    Finding treasure upon open seas
    could never compare to you!

    R.J. Lindley

Well color me shocked and about to fall out of my chair!
Now 6 of my poems have made the top hot one hundred poems there.
    44, 74, 80, 92, 97 and 100.
Chosen by members no less. I haven't even a clue how to choose poems for this list there myself.
Amazed that number 97, " I Saw Butterflies Drinking Rain" made it, although a good poem--I wrote it at age 16!
18 U.S. Code § 2381-Treason Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

Back to having 7 poems on the list. Not bad when they get a few thousand poems every week....
However, in my estimation those are nowhere near my best poems. Two are very good but I have about 100 poems better than the other five they chose. I suspect that when choosing they only look at recent poems.
I have almost 800 poems there now. -- Tyr

I recently took a hard stand there and became quite unpopular for doing so.
And since then my ratings, comments and contests placements have suffered.
Far too many do not remain true to poetry and rate/judge poems by their own quality and merits but instead allow personal(hard) feelings to cloud clear and fair judging.
I knew that would be the case, but I always remain true to my core principles, come Hell or high waters.-Tyr
