It's never a great day. Those were different times, and the reality is. You, and I might not be here if History had been different.

If Hitler, and Tojo had succeeded. There probably wouldn't be a USA where you and I had the freedom to speak about it.

Necessary yes but to call it a good day is wrong.

Forcing the surrender of America's enemy is a good day for America. All they had to do is surrender.

The actual bomb was not good apart from the fact it ended the war.

Saving thousands of lives is good. I am usually against war. But once the decision is made to fight, fight to win, with as few casualties on your side as possible. I don't believe in this UN police action horseshit.

    We said surrender. They didn't.

I don't believe the logic of 'the ends justify the means' should be celebrated. If that logic is used then it should just be classed as a terrible thing that had to happen.

Frankly, I really don't give a damn about the enemy. If you're in a war, you fight to win - not wring your hands about being "too hard" on them. You kill them en masse until they lose the will to fight and surrender.

Black Diamond is right - they were 2 of the greatest days in American history. Not our fault the little bastards started a war with us.

You cannot class obliterating whole cities as 'a good day for america' it is a good day for both sides that the war ended because of it but the bombs themselves were not good.

Guess we should all just agree to STOP using the word "Good" so often. That will solve the issue for once.

CB, I totally understand what you are saying. It's like saying it is good that I shot that home burglar. No, it's not really good, it was just the best choice at the time.

I have to disagree and think your example is perfect for my argument as well, if someone decides to come into my house then they decided to be shot, and if you have to shoot do it to kill, if you just wound then he may have a gun and return fire, if we didn't hit them as hard as we did then as previously stated, we may not be typing here at all. If they didn't attack us then we wouldn't of had to fight, if he didn't break in I wouldn't of had to shoot, but always shoot to win. In my eyes both makes ya a winner, and a winning is always good.
