Very well said.
The TRUE meaning of Christmas is this: Whatever somebody wants it to mean.
Setting-aside a day per year to shower our loved-ones with goods or blessings and all that - that's okay. Nothing wrong with it. Nothing wrong with using it as a means to be materialistic either. But to assign-only the recent Christian interpretation is not intellectually honest. Nobody within the church celebrated Christmas until the church of England (if I recall) officially sanctioned it because folks were doing it anyway, but calling it something else. The holiday was created to control behaviours of the congregation - nothing GOOD about that.
However.
Tis LOVELY. Just my favourite of everything happening on ONE day.
“… the greatest detractor from high performance is fear: fear that you are not prepared, fear that you are in over your head, fear that you are not worthy, and ultimately, fear of failure. If you can eliminate that fear—not through arrogance or just wishing difficulties away, but through hard work and preparation—you will put yourself in an incredibly powerful position to take on the challenges you face" - Pete Carroll.
