I dumped the Dish weeks ago and haven't looked back. I found some bunny ears in my garage and plugged them in the day before the storm hit last week to watch local news. If you're within 5-10 miles of a decent sized city you're going to get good 1080p reception with these. I get something like 9 channels. Nothing worth watching except local news once in awhile though.

there you are. I check into Uverse but they contracted with dish. my community won't allow dish's, outside antennas. so they're out. plus it s 2 year contract. the dish is for TV and Uverse for the internet. bye bye. then I looked into google fiber. only 1 bundled plan 130 a month 2 year contract.

You could get Google fiber? We'll have that option soon. It looks like they have a 0$ internet option after you pay the construction cost ($300); I'm not sure how fast it is though. But we haven't had cable for years but you could go with Fiber (no TV), rabbit ears, and sling TV for $90 a month I think. The only thing we miss without cable or Sling would be sports.

I thought fiber had more options when I looked. But it's not here yet so not sure what it will look like when it does.

For antennas: plug your address in at this site: http://antennaweb.org/

and it will tell you what type of antenna you need. I spent $50 at Radio Shack I think but I know you could have gone cheaper. Especially if you're in a major metro area like KC then I can't imagine you need one that costs to much. And Over the air signals are generally better than cable/uverse because they need to compress the signal. I get more channels than I could ever use with just an antenna. You may miss some things but you just have to wait on Netflix or Hulu or ...

EDIT: placement of the antenna is important, you might have to move it around a bit. Attic is best if you can swing it.

Look at your plan. If it doesn't say unlimited, they'll screw you. I hate the shit. They're like our government.

Maybe at least a splitter of sorts that you can turn on for important times, like the super bowl, or the world series!

Will do! Besides, in such cases, I think the local sheriff would probably be a little understanding, especially if it can be proven that it was only activated for the important stuff, like those title games like I pointed out, and maybe some occasional Seinfeld reruns.
