Eurabia’s Multiculturalists Warn: Muslim Migrants Create ‘Nations Within Nations’
Radical Islam: The liberal former head of Britain’s top multiculturalism agency confesses he “got almost everything wrong” regarding Muslim assimilation and warns the West that Muslims create “nations within nations.” Oh now they tell us.
Muslims have carved out no-go zones across Britain, as they have in France, which has also opened the floodgates to more Muslim immigrants. And now that those same immigrants have established some 85 Islamic courts dispensing shariah “justice” across the U.K., the former head of Britain’s Equalities and Human Rights Commission says perhaps he and other multiculturalists erred in assuming they would blend into western society and adopt our values.
Trevor Phillips says it may have been a mistake to loosen immigration restrictions and roll out the prayer mat for large numbers of Islamists. And he says that he was naive to think the real risk of the arrival of these foreign communities was discrimination against Muslims.
“For a long time, I too thought that Europe’s Muslims would become like previous waves of migrants, gradually abandoning their ancestral ways, wearing their religious and cultural baggage lightly, and gradually blend into Britain’s diverse identity landscape,” he said. “I should have known better.”
Phillips now says followers of Islam, in fact, hold very different values from the rest of society and many want to lead separate lives.
“We’re heading in entirely the wrong direction,” he recently wrote. “So much so that some of them would rather live under a wholly different system.”
But it may be too late. Like much of Eurabia, Londonstan is in a life-and-death struggle for the soul of Western civilization. A new survey of British Muslim attitudes reveals a growing cultural chasm:
One in five U.K. Muslims refuse to enter a non-Muslim house.
Almost 40% say a woman should always obey her husband.
Nearly one-third say a man has the right to have more than one wife.
A majority want to outlaw homosexuality.
Nearly one-fourth want to obey only Islamic laws, not the laws laid down by parliament.
More than a third (35%) say Jews have too much power.
Belgium is also rethinking its multicultural policies, now being blamed for the creation of segregated Muslim enclaves that have become breeding grounds for terrorists.
Belgian Interior Minister Jan Jambon says the tiny nation’s liberal integration policy has caused a “cancer” within Muslim communities, many of whom actually cheered in the streets after the deadly Brussels attacks last month.
“A significant section of the Muslim community danced when the attacks took place,” Jambon revealed in an interview with a Belgian newspaper.
“They threw stones and bottles at police and press during the arrest of (terrorist co-conspirator) Salah Abdeslam,” he added. “That is the real problem. That migrants from the third or fourth generation turn openly against our society and have been willing to use violence or to justify it has to do with our policy.”
Both Jambon and Phillips lamented that European politicians for years ignored the warning signs that Muslims were refusing to assimilate and held contempt for their western values.
American pundits glibly say that this could never happen here, that our Muslim community is different — more westernized, better adjusted — as if America has some magical assimilation machine that Eurabia lacks.
Apparently these same gullible experts have never walked through Paterson, N.J.’s Little Ramallah district. Or Dearbornistan, Mich. Or Little Mogadishu, Minn. Or Northern Virginiastan. Or the countless other Muslim enclaves that will soon resemble Molenbeek and other European no-go zones, as Obama imports 1,500 Syrian refugees a month to the U.S., on top of the average of 1,250 Iraqi and 750 Somali refugees each month.
Europeans have learned the hard way that it’s not just a tiny minority of these immigrants who hold dangerous views. Let’s not make the same mistake.
