    Default Nonstop Microsoft Loading Spinner

For some reason today, the 'loading' spinner is running nonstop on the board here, up in the very top left of this page on the tab.

I disabled AdBlock, reloaded, and the spinner finally stops. Reactivate, reload, and nonstop spinner again.

Is it just me or does everyone else get it too?

When it happens, watch whatever ad is on the page at the time. It's nothing "bad", but sometimes they will either be interactive, or running or whatever, and will kind of just keep "playing" or doing whatever, mine does it too. Welcome to today's world of advertising!! Even worse is places like Yahoo, where the damn adverts start talking to you and auto playing.

Good idea. I disabled, then moused over the ad - was to palmbeachgroup.com so I manually added that to AdBlocker's blacklist, reactivated and bam! No more spinner.

And yeah, I hate the autoplay, especially if it's an ad. IMO, the only time a video should ever play is when I click it.

Just use adblocker for the entire site here, you won't offend me.

I do! It was still interfering, which was perplexing... I'm thinking they've almost figured out a way to get around AdBlocker - it's a constant game of one-upmanship, kind of like the game of Radar Detectors & Cop's Radar.

What REALLY pisses me off? There are sites I have been to that won't load at all, or portions of it (videos you want to play) - and they display a message telling you that these things won't work until you disable your ad blocking software!

Yep, those are getting much more common. At some point, AB is going to have to figure out a way to go stealth so the site doesn't know it's being filtered.

Same with hacking and viruses and similar - like you said, always a back and forth game. The instant that AB would announce that they had a stealth version, the companies will start to pick apart the new program and figure a way around it. The only TRUE way is to stop things via your browser, turning off java and flash and crap like that, but it's too much of a pain for me.

I don't know what kind of cash flow AB generates, as far as I know it's just a guy and he only asks for donations.

He did change things a while back to allow some ads and I had to manually turn those off, so I'm sure there was a payoff somewhere. Still, the R&D costs money.

In the meantime, we'll all eat up our bandwidth downloading updates.
