Default Anyone remember "WHEN HELL WAS IN SESSION?"

    Today in military history
May 2, 1966, Vietnam War prisoner of war (POW) and Navy aviator Jeremiah Denton, spoke on the phone with a Japanese news crew while being held inside a Hanoi prison.
During the interview, then-Commander Denton blinked the word “torture” in Morse code.
For nearly eight years, Denton endured grueling conditions as a POW.
On February 12, 1973, Denton was released in Hanoi by the North Vietnamese along with numerous other American POWs during Operation Homecoming. Stepping off the jet back home in uniform, Denton said:
"We are honored to have had the opportunity to serve our country under difficult circumstances. We are profoundly grateful to our Commander-in-Chief and to our nation for this day.
    God bless America."
After 34 years of service, Denton retired from the Navy on November 1, 1977, as a Rear Admiral.
Denton passed away on March 28, 2014. He was 89 years old.
Thank you for your service, sir.
May you continue to rest in peace.
