Saw some bright blue ones over in a park in England a little while back, they're pretty much non-existent in Northern Ireland for some reason, but amazing to see flying about in their weird way.
If you also agree that an animals suffering should be avoided rather than encouraged, consider what steps you can take.

Used to see them in NJ all the time growing up. And they would be at the beaches in Florida as well. Bastards are nearly impossible to catch!!

seriously @Gunny when we were kids there was an old abandoned house in our neighborhood and in the summer at dusk the bats would stream out of the attic. We would line up on each side, there were usually 6 of us ,3 on each side. We'd have tennis rackets and those bats would have to run the gauntlet....lol...before cable, internet, cell phones, gaming sites etc...we made our own games in real time...

Bats? Rats with wings? No thanks. We had lightning bugs (fireflies to you yankees). And I ain't ever owned a tennis racket. Those dudes dressed so gay in the 70s that was OUT. I don't even know how I wore some of that crap in the 70s. We all looked like Howard. Tight ass striped bell-bottoms and wide collared shirts. Somebody should have just shot me then.

Dragonflies are awesome creatures. Very friendly and will land on me to take a break and it seems like they're saying 'Hi'.

I have a bunch that zoom around my yard, and it pisses me off that the cat thinks they're fun to kill. Can't train a cat, though.

Anyway, one Dragonfly can kill over 100 mosquitoes in 1 day! That reason in itself makes them my favorite insect of the animal world. When they're zooming around my yard, that's what they're doing - hunting other flying insects.

Plus, the different colors they have are amazing... every one is unique. Brilliant blues and greens... I love checking them out close up.

I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?
