Default Pope says Islam is not terrorism

Pope says Islam is not terrorism

Aboard the papal plane (AFP) - Pope Francis said Sunday that Islam could not be equated with terrorism and warned Europe was pushing its young into the hands of extremists.

"It's not true and it's not correct (to say) Islam is terrorism," he told journalists aboard the papal plane during the return journey from a trip to Poland.

"I don't think it is right to equate Islam with violence".

Francis defended his decision not to name Islam when condemning the brutal jihadist murder of a Catholic priest in France in the latest of a string of recent attacks in Europe claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.

"In almost every religion there is always a small group of fundamentalists. We have them too."

"If I have to talk about Islamic violence I have to talk about Christian violence. Every day in the newspapers I see violence in Italy, someone kills his girlfriend, another kills his mother-in-law, and these are baptised Catholics."

The pontiff was speaking after Muslims attended Catholic mass in churches around France on Sunday in solidarity and sorrow following the murder of the priest, whose throat was slit at the altar of his church.

In an echo of remarks made during his five-day trip to Poland for a Catholic youth festival, Francis said religion was not the driving force behind the violence.

"You can kill with the tongue as well as the knife," he said, in an apparent reference to a rise in populist parties fuelling racism and xenophobia.

He said Europe should look closer to home, saying "terrorism... grows where the God of money is put first" and "where there are no other options".

"How many of our European young have we left empty of ideals, with no work, so they turn to drugs, to alcohol, and sign up with fundamentalist groups?" he asked.

SATAN IS THE AUTHOR OF THE FIRST LIE AND ALL LIES SINCE...
WE SHOULD BE ASKING WHY THIS POPE LIED METHINKS...
And why he equates any murder with terrorism --when the two can not and do not compare in such a way...

"If I have to talk about Islamic violence I have to talk about Christian violence. Every day in the newspapers I see violence in Italy, someone kills his girlfriend, another kills his mother-in-law, and these are baptised Catholics."
Really, so he can not see the difference in intent and how one is religious based (Islamic terrorism) while the other is an individual personal action based upon anger, hate, greed , stupidity, jealousy, etc.= not based upon some religious teaching/promise/command!

Excusing them, is defending them and their evil----- he just did that IMHO..
Sorry but I call it the way I see it regardless of who it may be I criticize... -TYR

I never have gotten the whole "Pope" thing. But, @GravyBoat, for one who defends his own religion so zealously. you might want to think that others are going to defend theirs. It isn't a one-way street.

And just to be clear, I could care less about the Pope or what he has to say. What I WILL point out is unlike the Ayatollah, the Pope is not running around preaching intolerance, hatred, and inciting people to murder others.

Y'all need to grow up. And when you get some blood on you own damned hands, feel free to lecture me.

The pope is wrong? That's a first!
If you also agree that an animals suffering should be avoided rather than encouraged, consider what steps you can take.

This is all just more of the political correctness that rules with an iron fist, in my part of the world ... evidently, even the Pope isn't immune to it.

One swallows the preferred brand of thinking. Or, one is pilloried for it.

Even if Islamic terrorists started attacking with WMD's ... still, the 'PC' voices wouldn't recognise the truth for what it was.

Benedict he is not. Methinks we have a Pope with a liberal agenda.

My wife is Catholic and I make no attack upon the religion but this man should have never been made Pope.

He has a political agenda and concentrates on it instead of his true agenda which is serving God IMHO.

AS ALWAYS I SIMPLY CALL IT AS I SEE IT , WHICH IN THIS CASE HAS ANGERED MY WIFE.

I was raised Catholic, so I know how crazy it is and how crazy it makes people. Catholicism is the most bloodthirsty human creed of the last 2,000 years, far eclipsing all others in terms of body count and misery. Christopher Columbus makes Adolph Hitler look like Leo Buscaglia. These days, the clearly Marxist pope preaches everything but common sense, everything he says smacks of tolerance for overtly sinful behavior and enabling evil.

The Catholic Church spends millions of dollars every year, influencing government not to prosecute all the pedo perverts the Church condones and harbors, and paying off the victims of abuse. Catholics are the Whores of Babylon, I first heard that 30 years ago from a military general; Catholics will always be led to do the bidding of the world's power elite.

That's why I'm so against Muslims in the United States, not because I have any particular distrust of them, but because the United States is already screwed up because of Catholics and other religious goons, those who use government to promote their religious perversions.

And that's just it, I don't have anyone's blood on my hands, I'm not responsible for anything like that.

You say you're against Muslims. Which begs the question .. why are you trying so hard to discredit one of Islam's rival religions, in such a way as to suggest that any perception of Islam's truly bloodthirsty foundations can be disregarded to ANY degree, by comparison ?

To make any case against any Christian denomination (or any Christians, come to that ..) you have to reach right back into history, to an age and to generations long dead, to make any such case supposedly 'stick'. That's to say, you have to choose an historical context which in no way matches, or is relevant to, today's world, today's mindsets to be found in the modern Christian.

But that simple truth doesn't dissuade you from STILL trying to attack an enemy of Islam ... eh ?

    Check this out ...

What that link leads to is the latest (at time of typing) addition to that thread. The thread itself catalogues an enormous account of Islam's savagery, not in ancient history, but IN THE MODERN WORLD.

    Let me quote from it:

    Jihad ReportJul 23, 2016 -
    Jul 29, 2016
    Attacks 48
    Killed 409
    Injured 700
    Suicide Blasts 9
    Countries 13
    Islamic Terrorists...

...killed twice as many people in one month (5000) in November, 2014) than were killed in in 350 years of Inquisition (2000-3000).

...murder more people everyday than the KKK has in the last 70 years (26 since 1945).

...killed more civilians in two hours on September 11th (2977) than in the 26 years of sectarian conflict in Northern Ireland (2236).

...massacred more Iraqis on a single day in June, 2014 (1566) than the number of criminals executed by America in the last 40 years (1423).

...slaughter more people everyday than were killed during the entire Salem Witch Trials (12).
Do you deny the truth of what you're reading ? WHY, if you do ?

That thread has, as of now, 893 posts in it, the vast majority being horrific, bloodthirsty, accounts of Islamist savagery over very limited time-spans per post. And those limited time-spans are all from today's MODERN world, not from hundreds of years ago.
