    Default O o d a

    1. Observe – collect current information from as many sources as practically possible.
    2. Orient – analyze this information, and use it to update your current reality.
    3. Decide – determine a course of action.
    4. Act – follow through on your decision.

This is an excellent video describing the decision-making process an officer goes through and how quickly he must make the decision to shoot or not. I had never thought of it like this.

This is why I could never be a cop.

For me, it would first be to start chewing the bubble gum, my way of multitasking. But as I cruise around, I would be calm and cool. But should an incident arise, and I know someone is a bad guy, then it's shoot and ask questions later!! My ass surely ain't dying tonight!!
