I Watched You Making Fresh Coffee Early This Morn

I watched you making fresh coffee early this morn,
thinking you healed me when I was ripped and torn
and from first touch, kiss and bright smiling hello
your eyes said, "come on now and away we shall go"!

How on our first date you told me truth you wanted
not the wealth that other men so vainly flaunted
and with that faithful moral and character stand
how later, we both accepted our wedding bands.

Darling, this about you I know and dearly love
you are gentle but so firm when push comes to shove,
and in your heart rests an angel's sweeter touch
your inner grace and deep beauty I love so much!

Last night, you glowing in that dress of brightest blue,
I know they wondered this, how I ever got you,
with that this truly blessed heart nearly leaped out
and you my wife are all I ever think about!

I watched you making fresh coffee early this morn,
thinking you healed me when I was ripped and torn
and from first touch, kiss and bright smiling hello
your eyes said, "come on now and away we shall go"!

Found again (and finished) this afternoon in an old poetry book.
When A Poet Feels A Break Is Needed

O at the times I swore to drop this pen,
rejoin the multitudes of normal men.
Those sleepless nights, this old writing hand ached,
from sweat and tears, true poet can not fake.
Times when being stalled gave me heaving fits
and dark dream writing came from hellish pits.
O the words I have splashed forth and cursed
the rewrites and sad edits I have nursed.

Why not abandon poet's heavy heart
go back before this addiction did start.
Turn to the light and life begin anew,
hold out for better and receive my due.
Walk into meadows, bright flowered and green
look to the future as a bright eyed teen.
Stare into the heavens on moonlit nights
see and refuse to ink the starry lights.

If my soul can decide to turn away,
renounce this addiction on that fine day.
Race into new life and as wordless man,
give ink and paper an eternal ban.
Learn to live without this deep blessed curse
rest in my solitude and feel no worse.
Should that day come and my mind so abide
I'll forever, my inner thoughts thus hide.

I opened a poetry book found in a nightstand drawer today and thus this poem was born from the poem fragment in that book..
I had no memory of writing it but I saw that I had done so a few weeks after my mother's death.
I felt it was a must that -- I FINISH IT TODAY AND PRESENT IT..-TYR

    Tribute poem, written this morn..-Tyr

Hold Not A Sad Vigil For Me

Hold not a sad vigil for me
Born of flesh and blood, once was free
Where my soul went, a better place
    I ran Life's mysterious race.

Now having taken my last breath
Spirit passed through, cold hands of death
Beg, when I am laid in cold grounds
Earth hears no heartfelt weeping sounds.

In Life's gift, I came to this world
To another realm, soul is hurled
There exists, no more evil lies
Only Light, Sun and gleaming Skies.

Once settled, saying prayers for you
Those that I love, evil ones too
This final message, truth stands clear
I enter smiling, with no fear.

Do not stand at my grave and weep* (1)
Instead pray my soul, the Lord keeps
My grave, merely a marking place
To delay what Time will erase.

Hold not a sad vigil for me
Born flesh and blood, once I was free
Where my soul went, a better place
    I ran Life's mysterious race.

Wading In Soft Waves Of That Distant Shore

When dawn's light broke, her tears had not yet dried
Her sobs came back, echoes in howling winds
Was it a nightmare, had her lover died,
Was this tragedy how their true love ends?

He woke upon a long white sandy shore
His heart heard her pleading words from afar
Deep yearnings, to please, just touch her once more,
Gaze at Heaven and see her shining star.

Night fell, her broken heart did not dare rest
She knew that soon they would be reunited
Beautiful eyes closed, she began her quest,
Leave this world that was now sorrow blighted.

When dawn's light broke, there she was, his new bride
Wading in soft waves of that distant shore
A short trip, now both had taken that ride,
Winds blew, no more did her pleas they implore.

    It Is Truly Time To

Time to bury the past, move on
    sing again in different tone;
    climb another mystery hill*
soothe sooner our love aching bone.

Time to dance a jig, fancy-feet
    with dawns we gloriously meet;
no longer hold sorrows that kill*
allow true love and life to greet.

Time to romance and wed our bliss
    savor forever our first kiss;
fly into skies that hearts now heal*
embrace love, destined not to miss.

Time to stop heartache, truly live
    carry joy in our souls, forgive;
dream more and treasure sweeter thrills*
bear bountiful crops, just to give.

    Climb another mystery hill
    no longer hold sorrows that kill;
fly into skies that hearts now heal
dream more and treasure sweeter thrills.

What Holds More Resplendent Gifts Of The Great And Vast Beyond

Seas of poetry orations, I once took my swims
being strong in spirit, stouter in heart and lithe of limbs
What dread had I of illness or passage of Father Time
when great beauty of verse sang so deep, dancing in its rhyme
Waves of its amber grains, its sandy beach, its great pleasures
stirred heart, pleading soul in immeasurable measures!

If tired, I cast myself upon lands flowing true and fair
seeing magnificence in Earth, Life, Nature- everywhere
Before dawn, before slumber flees this soul's poetry dreams
of paradise shores, poetic thoughts, soft cast golden beams
Winds of change and sublime words to describe and thus to match
castles of hope, beauty's grace and golden eggs- set to hatch!

Fearing not of, high flying fancies and heavenly flights
of lost romantic desires, cast adrift on stormy nights
Or that of abandoned ships left behind in gleaming seas
for poetry gifts its love and blessings of granted pleas
Bountiful harvests of word-seeds so pleasurably sown
are but summer days sending cool winds so gratefully blown!

What holds more resplendent gifts of the great and vast beyond
than poetry, its powers, which poets are so very fond
How its paintings, colors memories one sweetly recalls
of life, living and flames of hot-romance youth often falls
Beyond poetic seas of white-cropped waves and foaming foam
may this old poet's soul, in death, forever gaily roam!

Note- I dedicate this poem to my very good friend Susan Ashley and her wondrously inspiring new poem that inspired me to write this today.
Her new poem titled, The Red Leaf- set me to thinking of its beautiful poetry
and life. I sat down and this flowed right on out, early this morn.
