I Did So Out Of Love, Not Out Of Blinded Blindness

I walked out of pitiful pits of darkest darkness,
I broke down that massive gate just for you.
I did so out of love, not out of blinded blindness
I fought that battle, so to our true romance renew!

You are the depths of mercy in your kindness
You are the beautiful angel that is fair and true.
You are my deliverer from pains and epic sadness
You are the love and blessing that is long overdue!

I walked out of pitiful pits of darkest darkness,
I broke down that massive gate just for you.
I did so out of love, not out of blinded blindness
I fought that battle, so to, our true romance renew!

Those dark valleys and shadows are nightmares gone
For into our blessed paradise, both our souls have flown!

    On Death And Its Mysteries

Weary of life, no lingering death does he ask
As hungry spider says to the struggling fly,
I wait and proudly succeed at my assigned task
And I will soon and gaily eat you by the by.

What of the firm honor he had foolishly lost
Welcoming dawns and her deep love on starlit nights?
Had not secret winds warned him of lying cost,
Flying blind, crashing into angels with no lights?

Darkness invaded, true romance was never found
Now in storm lashing seas, heart and soul both lost,
Weary of life, he sought mercy, refuge underground
And cried out, "Be damned its cold morning frost"!

Death, was it not just another word for being free?
Or mere rotting fruits fallen from an ancient tree?

Having been sick these last few days, has taken me 4 days to write this piece.
Now presented with no edits and may end up getting none..-Tyr

As High Tide Washed In Its Treasures And Roaring Sounds
    (Death and Ghostly Pleas)

I ran into the high tide and its drowning roar
no more shall waking dawns find my waning glow
There was life but I always wanted so much more
not the false glamour or wealth made just for show.

Soon as receding waters remove rotting skin
I shall stride ashore, ghostly and with new heart
No longer a failure among throngs of vain men
where only death can bring another hopeful start?

Will not new moon and hot sun then warm my soul
summer breeze's flow ease this long panting desire
O' spirit! Thank this, in death was paid the great toll
to find her vanished love and relight dying fires.

I moan in anguish, from low hills and distant bays
for this estate is lonely, dark and strangely cold
Doomed to vanish in brilliant light of sunny days
as stories of my death children are often told.

Her soul, I wander and search for each night in vain
it is as she has now vanished from earth and sky
My love, my all, of her nothing here now remains
now I am again lost and ask the reason why.

Bitter and dark, this state I in agony roam
begging help and pity from night skies above
As if dead hero from one of the ancient tomes
sacrificed life and all for she that he truly loves.

Dark has fallen, distant hills, hear a wailing moan
a sad plea from lost lover once far out of bounds
I see her, waiting at shore, standing all alone
as high tide washed in its treasures and roaring sounds.

I Watched You Making Fresh Coffee Early This Morn

I watched you making fresh coffee early this morn,
thinking you healed me when I was ripped and torn
and from first touch, kiss and bright smiling hello
your eyes said, "come on now and away we shall go"!

How on our first date you told me truth you wanted
not the wealth that other men so vainly flaunted
and with that faithful moral and character stand
how later, we both accepted our wedding bands.

Darling, this about you I know and dearly love
you are gentle but so firm when push comes to shove,
and in your heart rests an angel's sweeter touch
your inner grace and deep beauty I love so much!

Last night, you glowing in that dress of brightest blue,
I know they wondered this, how I ever got you,
with that this truly blessed heart nearly leaped out
and you my wife are all I ever think about!

I watched you making fresh coffee early this morn,
thinking you healed me when I was ripped and torn
and from first touch, kiss and bright smiling hello
your eyes said, "come on now and away we shall go"!

While Resting In An Ancient Orchard

While resting in an ancient orchard a branch broke
Down my gaping mouth it began my life to choke
Did not the majestic Hero Achilles too have his heel
Or better be, sympathy for stolen Helen now we feel?

Air so short, my mind saw new streaming lights
About to die, I thought of our wondrous nights
Years that had flown, how your image had faded
Or had just my indifferent darkness me so jaded?

Struggling hard, my last gasps I let out a vicious cry
Why, why on this accursed earth must I now die
And with that blast, a great power came over me
I tore back unwarranted wrath and set myself free!

Safe again, my tired soul asked the sky to shine
I would sing and dance for this newest lifeline
While dancing I tripped on a rock and downward fell
Another sad place I landed but now I refuse to tell.

While resting in an ancient orchard a branch broke
Down my gaping mouth it began my life to choke
Did not the majestic Hero Achilles too, have his heel
Or better be, sympathy for stolen Helen now we feel?

Before Dawn's Falling Dew Wets Thirsty Earth

Before dawn's falling dew wets thirsty earth
Before morning birds chirp their first sounds
Before the day eats its fill and purges man's soul
A brief moment between waking and harsh light
Exists in dimensions that hide from arrogance of mankind

Sky awaits its orders from Sun's fierce hearth
Clouds parade as if they want to sing and dance
The Winds flow high, low, through and all around
Nature carries on with its massive tasks and utter contempt
Children sleep and dream of the sweets that life may bring

Rivers flow, wind and bend to the earth's heaving chest
Rocks cry out, "Break me , if your heart aches."
Waters beckons to be drank, painted, splashed and sailed
Mountains standing tall, cry, "Man thou art so small"
Nature carries on with its massive tasks and utter contempt

Rain builds and waits its own sweet time
To gift a blessing or in rage destroy man and beasts with floods
Man vainly announces that he alone is the mighty King
While death walks with darkness hand in hand
And Nature begins to tremble at destruction mankind brings

Dew falls silently upon thirsty earth and plants joyously sing
Trees stand regal and accept the dripping gift
Life, walks blindly in man's massive greed and wanton lusts
Future promise weakens as father Time brings old age
Silent voices, wait in dreams yet to ever be found

    To Find Her Again

That summer he was a waste, his heart held ransom
she was, ravishing goddess holding the key knew not.
He never thought of himself as special or handsome
but his heart so truly loved her and that was a lot!

One night she came to him and he knew it was so
for no mere dream could such deep love give.
In his heart of heart he saw her radiance grow
and with that joyful reality he began again to live!

Alas! Such deep bliss was never meant to be
He woke, an undelivered love letter on the table.
Outside he ran, saw her name carved into the tree
and only then recalled, she was the princess in a fable!

Sad and dejected, he went back inside, to his bed
to find her yet again, always in his dreaming head!

Until Gabriel Blows That Sounding Horn

What of long treading years, in a vast wasteland spent,
guilt for shamelessly trekking along on safe trails
Was such the life for decent, true and brave men meant
or vacant treasury of a sad life that fails?
Do such mercenary lusts, placate such lost souls,
where hearts languish in invisible prisons deep
Is it best to live as burrowing blind moles
or best to live our dreams when we are not asleep?

What of sacrifices of those we most admire
their many cuts and bruises fearlessly endured
They that themselves put their own feet to the fire
rather that walk seeking life boringly insured
What of a Bowie, Crockett, Jackson or a Boone
think they had such well known adventures without pain
Life is for living, it is over far too soon
be not those playing along seeking no hard strain!

If not for such brave, hardy souls where would we be
what freedoms and immense futures would we now hold
True freedom demands blood from those who would be free
which is why such great heroes stories are oft told!
Dark world commands that we must for freedom defend
our dear lives, hopes and magnificent dreams thus born
If at such sad costs, to hell we must others send
we should do so til Gabriel blows sounding horn!

If Your Dreams Fail To Fulfill, Dream On, Dream On

If your dreams fail to come, dream on, dream on
If your life bores, seems dumb, dream on, dream on

If Fate is no friend and pain is, dream on
for Hope waits in dreams to give it's rewards
If favorite songs have lost their sweet tone
know bliss may await, in your future cards.

If your dreams fail to come, dream on, dream on

If love denies, that you exist, dream on
oft love is elusive, fickle as Fate
If years feel wasted and forever gone
know life promises, " It is not too late"

If your dreams fail to come, dream on, dream on

    ************************************************** ********************

Presenting , an edited version of the poem shown above , edited by my dear friend, exceptionally talented fellow poet, Lin Lane...

If Your Dreams Fail To Fulfill, Dream On, Dream On

If your dreams fail to come true, dream on, dream on
If your life is a bore or seems dumb, dream on

If Fate is not a friend but pain seems to be, dream on
for Hope waits for us in dreams to give its rewards
If favorite songs have lost the sweetness of tone
know bliss may await in the next turn of cards.

If your dreams fail to come true
there is something you can do
    dream on, always dream on

If love denies your desire, or that you exist, dream on
Too oft love is elusive and as fickle as Fate
If you feel years have been wasted, forever gone
know that life holds promises, " It is never too late."

If your dreams fail to come true
Remember gray skies will turn blue
    dream on, keep dreaming on

If bad health and Death have knocked on your door
believe that Faith will guide you to joy it can give
If you keep failing, with God build a better rapport
Don't allow your dreams to die. They deserve to live.

If your dreams fail to come true, dream on, dream on
Don't relinquish your reveries to hither and yon

Broken And All Hope Lost, What Does One Do

I am old, tired and I no longer want to write
the old kettle is broken and tea leaking out
Kitchen is a hot mess and floors are dirty too
the ancient windows are shattered, O' what a sight
just time to pack it in, of that there is no doubt!

Where does eagle fly when its feathers are all gone
into canyon walls crashing into a sad heap
Nature may speak loud and although man may ignore
we all end up buried and cast into white bones
with our destroyed dreams and that eternal deep sleep!

So tell me, what real Hope can you, my friends, now give
that an old dog can chew on that is not crushed rock
Lights are off, this cold hurts so and heat is not on
Fighting for my survival and this life still live
as the trumpet sounds and I hear that old tick tock!

I am old, tired and I no longer want to write
the old kettle is broken and tea leaking out
Kitchen is a hot mess and floors are dirty too
the ancient windows are shattered, O' what a sight
just time to pack it in, of that there is no doubt!

I Beg For Words Of Solace, Both Soothing And Wise

When dying red embers, cast off fast fading glows
night's winds whip up early to send a colder chill
I see in my dreams white tombstones neat in long rows
and know the sorrow that hand of death will instill.

I weep not for myself or my early demise
rather for epic pains, my loved ones shall then know
I beg for words of solace, both soothing and wise
and their renewed happiness to forever grow.

As those fire-red embers slowly fade away
I pray for mercy and relief for those I love
In my sad heart, I long for yet another day
before I pass and soul flies to heaven above.

When sweet fires of life are about to play out
family and that love are what it was all about.

    Robert J. Lindley, 1-19-2018
    Sonnet, (On Love And Family)

Note- My muse has beat on me ever since I presented an old poem this morn.
Cursing me for being lazy and crying about my worrisome back pain.
"Write something, you old lazy dog" , she repeatedly cried
So came this poem, a sonnet, about my thoughts on the future night before I died..
Believe me she is oft a dark and evil taskmaster, devoid of compassion.
Which is yet another burden, that I must with deep foresight and greater wisdom bear....

As I Walk Into Corridors Darkened So

As I walk into corridors darkened so
time is neither enemy, ally nor friend.
Can not see birds but hear calls of the crows
signaling one day, this sad life will truly end.

Hold back my son, your heart now betrays
the black invades body, soul and mind.
Seek the wisdom and the ancient ways
hear spirits from your ancestral kind.

As that black door looms ever more near
look back at a life and past liven.
Cede not your joy into pits of fear
for such acts can not be forgiven.

As I walk into corridors darkened so
time is neither enemy, ally nor friend.
Can not see birds but hear calls of the crows
signaling one day, this sad life will truly end.

Deceiving Beams From False Moons Often Fall

Deceiving beams from false moons often fall
To those sad, lonely and lost love blinded
Aching for tender-sweet renewed love calls
Fall farther being so single minded.

Darkness offers its own glimmering rays
Converted into lights by epic pains
When all seems lost, mere seconds are delays
    Minutes wasted seem unbearable strains.

Where once love thrived, now love is forsaken
Such gashes break armor and soon blood spills
Thus any rope thrown is so soon taken
For relief waited, brings coldest chills.

Pride gone, wandering fires fail to warm.
Then Dark and Blackness wrecks its greatest harm.

NOTE- Written from a message received in a dream last night.
My Muse refused to let me ignore it (beat on me until I relented), thus I sat down and wrote it..
Hope my enjoy and even understand, that such happens in life.

You know, Robert, WHY I adore your poems? - Because you HAVE what to say and are able to deliver it in such a talent form. Thank you, my Friend Robert, for such a great pleasure you constantly are granting to me and mine.

Indifferent alike to praise or blame
Give heed, O Muse, but to the voice Divine
Fearing not injury, nor seeking fame,
    Nor casting pearls to swine.

i thank you my friend. What more can a poet ask for than for his poetry to serve others and bring joy and knowledge that helps others?
A wonderful gift to find it helps your grandchildren!! --tyr
