Militarische model of society proposed by Robert A. Heinlein
Before to describe one of those models that have theoretical Robert A. Heinlein in a book about a hypothetical future, will acquaint the reader with the author himself. Although... I don't know if I should explain to Western people: "Who is Heinlein?"... however, a small Preface.
Robert Heinlein included in the big three science fiction writers, which also included Isaac Asimov and Charles Clark.
Heinlein was born in 1907, the years of his creativity fell on 1939-1987. Like his eminent colleagues, he has had a monumental impact on the genre, developing science fiction as allegory and satire on the present, not to mention the fact that more than half a century ago, these authors were ahead of their time in describing the technologies of the future, which screened today in modern science fiction. Robert was also ahead of its time anti-racist context, complex political component, being a man separating socialist and liberal views that resulted in their creativity, did his books hotly debated, and he himself is very controversial among the readership, although he was a patriot and anti-Communist.
Having the experience of military service in the officer rank, being a graduate of the prestigious US naval Academy, shared a very militarista views in plan of the company.
And so, in one of his most famous books, "Starship Troopers", which was a turning point when Heinlein decided to move from teen science fiction, to adult... in this book Robert A. Heinlein proposed that in the distant future, the political and civil system of mankind will change radically.
Namely:
1) Full civil rights to only those citizens who have passed the optional biennial military service, or an analogue alternative service in health institutions. Full civil rights involve:
a) the Right to engage in political activities. I.e. right to be elected to government and local authorities.
b) the Right to occupy the bureaucratic and law enforcement posts.
C) the Right to conduct teaching activity (this applies to the disciplines of history, philosophy, and law).
d) the Right to vote.
2) People are not past military service, these do not have the rights.
3) Biennial military service is a right, not a duty. It shall have the right to pass everyone, regardless of health status, gender and age (of course starting in adulthood), exceptions are made only for persons whose state of mental health can't give account of his actions.
4) People serving (no matter year or further in the contract), so do not have full civil rights. Get them only at retirement.
5) to Enter military Universities are entitled to only those people who have been/are an optional two-year service.
6) For misconduct and crimes during the passage of the biennial service, employees can be fired without giving him full citizenship rights and opportunity to serve again.
Motivation to create in the future, such militarische mode of control was the philosophy which explained such an approach is that full civil rights should not be given to man only by right of birth. The person should be willing to sacrifice everything for society, and to prove it individually after a two-year service, thus having been in a de facto deprivation of liberty and of their rights and, if necessary, and to give his life for the sake of society.
This system excluded the possibility of coming into power people who have no experience of the service.
I propose in this thread... to discuss whether the right to life is similar to the state system and how it will be effective?
