    Default The Case for Christ

Saw this last night. Good movie/true story about Lee Sobel, an atheist reporter who sets out to scientifically prove that Christ was not resurrected. (Because he hated that his wife became a believer). At the end of his research, he became a believer, too.
His book of the same name and its successors, have sold more than 14 million worldwide.

I was saddened to see, though, that our theater had mostly older folks in it. Unless there is a Christian revival, we may be a minority once the older generation dies out.

Many of these beliefs come from scientific findings over the last half-century or so. Researchers exploring ancient monasteries and other gathering sites in Egypt have found hand-copied books of the Bible encompassing both the Old and New Testaments dating back to the second century AD.
The Codex Sinaiticus differs, often significantly, from the Bibles that we use today. There are even some chapters that are not included. The story of Jesus' death and resurrection are different. This has caused many skeptics to doubt the entirety of The Bible.
What they miss out on (IMHO, of course) is the fact that the basis of religious faith itself is the belief of Christians in the word of God. There is no way to prove what went on in ancient times to any degree. Whether you believe what is written in The Bible depends how strongly you believe in God. The fact that there have been various omissions, retractions and corrections in the Holy Scriptures does not change the fact that it is the word of God.
