And if you think they worry about a unification enabling the US military to establish a presence there, we already did.

We wouldn't need to be there if Korea was unified. Fact is, Korea hasn't been unified in centuries except when Japan occupied it. It was 3 separate countries. I honestly don't know what their cultural issues are. I only know that much from Tang Soo Do. Their issues are political. The difference between a N Korean and a S Korean? The 38th Parallel.

Historically the Russians and Chinese have wanted a buffer between them and capitalism. That's why, as Gunny can tell you better than I can, the Chinese invaded North Korea when we had the war won in 1950.

Exactly, both Russia and China want to be surrounded by countries they can "control" or have similar setups. Which is why the old soviet countries joining the EU is extremely threatening to Russia. North Korea is a similar buffer for China. I've also heard there is speculation that war in North Korea or a liberated North Korea would send millions of migrants to the Chinese border and they don't want to deal with that.

You are partly correct. Your history is a tad bit off though. Russia doesn't want anything to do with the place. It was at FDR's insistence the Russians opened a front in Korea. Contrary to popular belief all commies are not the same commies. The Russians and Chinese don't like each other. They supplied Uncle Ho separately not jointly. Same with N Korea. Russia washed their hands of the place.

It was not so much wanting a buffer zone. It was drawing a line in a war based on ideology. It was them vs us. What the Little Dictator doesn't get is we don't live in that time anymore. He's all alone in his own little world. I got a 4 years old granddaughter that jumps up and down and says "Look at me".

I hear ya. But I still have to think that this loose cannon may pose a bigger threat because of the situations he can put China in by attacking other powers.

Plus, China's massive trade with us is a huge embrace of Capitalism in itself.

And who suffers the most if we freeze China's assets with us? N Korea will be the first place.

One thing I think dough-boy tends to forget is that if he pisses off the Aussies,
the Brits and Canadians are likely to hitch up.

Then maybe the Germans and even the French.

That lad is painting himself into a corner.
I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

Default Okay folks...FOOD FOR THOUGHT here.

You all need to know. As we speak here. The U.S.Navy now has more power with their presence in the Sea of Japan, than all of the Bombs, Ships, Planes, and Manpower used during the SECOND WORLD WAR. With enough left over to take their remaining weapons to the PERSIAN GULF, and make large WALMART parking lots.
Anyone who thinks TRUMP doesn't know that...needs to dig a hole, and hide.

That's the great thing about being a Veteran. We have the experience to back it up.

I just don't know what is and isn't clear to talk about. I retired 17 years ago. My name's not Hitlery. It's STILL classified to me. I know what's there. Little fat boy better get him a room in China. Ain't going to much left but a crater if we hit that gravel pit.

Gunny. Everything is CLEAR to talk about now. The FIRST Amendment hasn't been taken away by the Dems, Hillary, Obama, and all the ignorant Haters yet.
