    Default Well....

I haven't been posting much of late. I haven't been feeling too well for one reason or another, and I am usually a pretty healthy and energetic person. Well, this past Monday I found out why I haven't been feeling well.

I am sitting in the local hospital posting at 3:30 in the morning because I had a heart attack. It was a real good one too. The cardiologist called it a "widowmaker" . 100% blockage in 2 arteries. Installed stints to fix the problem but had some pretty severe heart damage. It will take 6 to 8 weeks to determine if the damage is permanent.

At any rate, just wanted you all to know that I am fine now, just have to take it easy for a while. On a side note, the doctor told me I had to quit smoking but I could still have sex. I asked him which I was more likely to get...smokes or sex..... he didn't see the humor there....

Oh I'm so glad you made it through, hope that you have good news in the 6-8 week mark. Prayers your way. No one wants to kiss an ashtray!

Whoa, thank goodness you survived that! Those widowmakers are nasty business from what I'm told.

Glad you're okay, follow that doc's orders!

OMG ... my whole body went into shock just reading your words .. not expecting anything remotely close to this. Glad you're still here with us ... God is not ready for you so buckle up and take care of yourself so I don't have a heart attack worrying about you.

Sending prayers to you and the Mrs.

Thanks folks. I am feeling pretty good right now. Get tired pretty easy and got more needles sticking out of me than a porcupine has quills.

Just in case any of you think you are a tough guy (like I did) I will tell you what one of my sons told me: "there are tough guys, there are stupid tough guys and there are dead stupid tough guys... you get chest pains, get to the damn hospital" he also reminded me that dead tough guys eventually stink the worst....

YEAH, I got lucky. Good thing I am in fairly good shape or it would have been a lot worse ... like bypass surgery, pacemaker kind of worse.

being in good shape wasn't lucky.

    So glad you are ok!

Having just been through this myself, I know how you feel. As for the damage, I was told right away it was permanent. In fact, I did not know it could get better. I'm so glad yours has the potential to do so.

The thing that the doctors don't generally prepare you for is the feeling of mortality (and sadness) that comes with a heart attack. It took me a while to stop thinking about that a lot. I still do; just much less frequently. On the positive side, I truly don't sweat small stuff as much.

Are you on Brilinta? I had to switch off that due to difficult side effects.

If you ever want to talk, just pm me.

I dunno about the whole "mortality" thing...I suspect a few of my past experiences took care of that long ago. Trying Brilinta initially but may have to change it later.
