Yep. Because I'm normal. Not putting salt on some fruit is weird. Besides, Missy, look at the thread title. I didn't in-include myself. I doubt many of any of you eat like I do. My daughter thinks I'm weird. I cook for myself. I'd starve eating most of the junk your average person eats.

We've had this discussion about food about a dozen times in the past.. I still maintain that carbs are bad. Protein. Healthy fats. Greens.

Tofu is just gross! I'm for eating healthy, but will not get that desperate. I actually think just eating soybeans or sprouts makes more sense and certainly more tasty with better texture.

That the latest fad? Carps are good if you need them. They are fuel for energy. Now if you're not burning them off I can see that as being problematic. The trick is to learn how many carbs you need. Lso depends on your body type. Carps don't bother me. I have to eat to keep weight ON.

And I have to eat red meat. For one, I came out of the hospital anemic. Two, I can tell the difference in my energy (especially since the last became a factor) if I don't get enough iron for even a day. Fresh veggies and fruit (some with salt because it's normal ).

I rarely eat any sweets or other junk food. I DID have some ice cream once last year though.

    I'll state it again.

    A) The body needs fat to survive- without it, you die. Period.
    B) The body needs protein to survive - without it, you die. Period.
    C) The body does not need carbs to survive - if you never eat another carb in your entire life, absolutely nothing negative happens.

    Go ahead...look it up.

Look what up? I have a couple of college courses from SDSU on nutrition and a LOT of Marine Corps and gym rat OJT. You have to have carbs. Period. You will die without them. They affect your energy level and they affect your ability to think.

Whoever sold you THAT should have sold you a car without a motor instead.

Your college courses are old and outdated. The food pyramid as you know it is being revamped.
Ketogenic diets reverse diabetes and the need for meds. The lack of sugars starves cancer cells.. the list goes on..

Actually, no. What's old and outdated is following the latest greatest BS because so-n-so says so. Potatoes are fattening. Oh wait .. they're good for you. Bread id fattening. Oh wait, it's good for you.

The list goes on. I'll take my I can put on 20 pounds of muscle and from hobbling with a cane to running in 2 months and just suffer with it. I know what works for me, Can't beat experience.

    Have at it, old man.

BTW, a fad is something passing.. this just gets more and more proven daily.

    Like I said .. "fad".

And I AM having at it.

And speaking of quirks (not that it applies to anyone on THIS board ) people who swear you can burn as many calories walking as you can from running are just full of it. Maybe if you want to walk 20 miles a day.

People actually believe you can burn as many calories walking as running? Hmmm

Another favorite ... drink a 12 pack or more Fri and Sat night, hit the gym on Monday and burn it all off on an exercise bike in one shot. Won't be back again until next Mon.

Well... I've been somewhat guilty of that one. Not in my beliefs but my actions. Come out for a couple they said....
