Which President was arrested while in office, for running over a woman with a horse?

Franklin Pierce was the 14th president of the United States, serving from 1853 to 1857. Pierce was arrested while serving as president for running down a woman while on horseback. Pierce was never convicted of a crime connected to the incident, due to what the courts described as insufficient evidence. Franklin Pierce, the youngest man to be elected president to that point, chose to affirm his oath of office on a law book rather than swear it on a Bible, as all his predecessors except John Quincy Adams had done. A Koran would eventually take the place of a law book, because Liberal Democrats HATE the Bible. (see U.S. Representative Keith Ellison, Mn)
