Default When there's no launch ramp

    You make one!

A man reaches a certain age where he doesn't want any drama.
He doesn't want to fight with anyone, but if he's forced to he will NOT fight fair, he will NOT quit and there are NO weapons he will not use

Best to leave him alone with his coffee, bourbon and cigars. Don't poke the old men, they WILL hurt you.

Is that like 'a rising tide lifts all boats?'

    Wow!

When she went sideways I was gritting my teeth there... the Cap'n was giving her hell but it kept hitting bottom and the waves swung her to the right. Nasty spot to be in, sideways to the rollers like that!

Pretty ballsy going in reverse to the rollers like that, but he didn't have much choice. That stern really took a beating.

Why were they launching there? What's the backstory?

It's a training launch (I think) by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

There are 237 RNLI lifeboat stations around the coasts of Great Britain, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

The RNLI is principally funded by legacies and donations with most lifeboat crew members being unpaid volunteers.
